You don't want to be let down with mediocre or sub mediocrity in terms of food. This place really hit the mark. Like a total home run! Firstly it's a cracking good bakery with fresh artisanal bread. Secondly they do very high quality coffee. Thirdly they have sandwiches, soup and other great lunch items. My lunch I selected a seafood soup. It was rich, not salty and deliciously home made. Also as my ancestors must have come from the sea I had a Gaspesian smoked mackerel sandwich. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had in quite some time. Like blew my mind how good it was. It was tiny morsels of smoked fresh fish, thin apple slices. Shredded cabbage and a very nice light dressing. Holy macaroni it was amazing. I'd never think I'd have a smoked mackerel sandwich but I may try to replicate it at home. To round off the meal I ordered a capucinno and it was totally on point. Creamy. Piping hot and strong yet not bitter. To bring back to the grand ville I brought back two loaves of bread. Crispy, crunchy and soft in the centre. You would think a cafe like this would be in the Mille end Montreal or on Ave McGuire in QC or in SOHO in NYC but it's wonderfully amazing! When I Think of the options of coming here or eating at a place like St Hubert it's clear in my mind where I'd rather spend my money!

Don't Let the Display Case Fool You! My daughter had told me…read morethe cupcakes were beautiful here. We knew the baked items to be good. With that we ordered 25 pastel colored, decorated, cupcakes for a baby shower. We received nothing like the display cupcakes. They were very thinly frosted, with zero piping or decoration and the pastel coloring difficult to detect. They looked like a kid's first attempt. My daughter had to frost and decorate them all, in a hurry. As far as flavor, pretty standard. We had clearly communicated what we wanted and paid for. They were not cheap! Really disappointing.

Coffee shop looked super promising but Came up short on a few ways. Firstly coffee or cappuccino is…read morenice when it's piping hot. Here it was a shade more than lukewarm. Secondly usually a cappuccino is a double shot of espresso w thick creamy foam. Here it appeared to be a single shot and thus underwhelming and under strength. It could have been that the young girl serving us was a bit inexperienced however for the price being a bit more expensive it was not the best. I really can't believe I'm saying this but Mccafe is a good standard for a basic cappuccino (Tim Hortons to me is brown river water) and this was lesser than Mcdo which actually isn't even a coffee house. I still contend that brewing a good cup of coffee isn't rocket science that many places simply just don't understand. Maybe I'm being harsh but $8 for two small caps and we both felt the same shouldn't be a fluke.
