I've been here twice and they seem to know what they're doing with their espresso. However, they need to start using the thermometer for steaming milk. The first time the milk was not hot enough (I'd say 150 degrees or so) and the latte was lukewarm before I and my friend were halfway through. The second time it was far too hot, tongue scaldingly hot. They have Melinda's Biscotti from Sidney, my favourite, I recommend the Cranberry White-Chocolate (yes I know, I don't normally like white chocolate or cranberries either, but trust me). BTW: Amanda, the coment in your review about the skids and hippies is hilarious.

So, on my visit home, I was excited to stop by Coffee On the Moon and catch some of the relaxing vibe that I miss so much. I didnt order a London Fog this last time, but tried something different and I tried the hot apple cider and the rice crispie. I wasnt a huge fan of the rice crispie, it was huge and overpriced but I still love Coffee On the Moon. :) Staff are great too.

Not a bad little place to stop at if you happen to be in downtown Duncan. I had a turkey spinach…read moresandwich and a cup of their medium roast coffee. The service was great, both girls were quite friendly and attentive. They heated up the sandwich for me on a panini press and it was tasty, it also came with tortilla chips on the side. The coffee they use is organic and fair trade and the brand is called, Spirit Bear. I believe that it is a local coffee roaster. The coffee was good but definitely nothing to write home about. Would I go back? Sure, if I happened to be in the area again killing time. At a friends house later on they brewed me a cup of coffee using beans from Drumroaster Coffee (another local coffee shop/roaster) and that was some of the best coffee I've ever had in my life. So maybe if you're in the area hit up Drumroaster instead.

We LOVE Hanks!!!…read more When we arrived just a little before 9am on a Saturday morning, there were about 10 people ahead of us and about another 5 waiting for their order. The place is truly a bakery haven! They have so much stuff, from croissants, quiches, pies, sandwiches, sausage rolls, cookies, breads, danishes, scones, cakes, etc! We found it so difficult to choose but went with their sausage rolls, quiche and latte. The staff were so friendly and wearing their beautiful warm smiles. We drove out to Mill Bay and had our breakfast by the water, it was magical with the sunshine. LOVED the sausage roll; so moist and flavourful. The pastry was so flaky and I'm not even kidding when I say I wanna go back again tomorrow!!! The quiche was also delicious. It had lots of potatoes and was very filling. Again, the pastry was delicious. The latte was also nutty and velvety! Such a beautiful experience! Parking was tight but we found one shortly after we arrived. Hanks have parking stalls reserved for its customers, so be sure to check and park at the right spot. It is free.

It is always worth a wander in downtown Duncan for the Farmers' Market. As even in the winter…read moremonths, there's a considerable amount of vendors outside ranging from baked goods to handmade items. My more recent stop during the long weekend was with my friend & we enjoyed lunch (she grabbed a smokie & I grabbed an empanada) at one of the benches throughout the market area between our random shopping adventure. If you can't find a bench right in the market area, continue down the street (that isn't closed off to traffic with booths) & you'll find an urban park with cement & wooden benches. It seemed like there was a lot of families stopping there to enjoy their fresh finds & quick snacks. By the time I walked out of the market, I had found honey, frozen empanadas, coffee beans, bread, saskatoon scones & cinnamon buns. I also chatted with the vendor that makes corded flint items & a few other vendors. My friend had her shopping bag equally filled up with various goodness to enjoy during the week. As the sun was out, the market was hopping at noon with families, couples, & friends gathering, plus dog walkers. It definitely feels like the community supports the market very well here & I am always impressed to see so many devoted farmers' market shoppers out when it's raining. One challenge with the farmers' market is finding parking close by. If you're lucky you can grab a spot along the tracks. otherwise you have to search for street parking (some of it is paid parking too) or go all the way to the edge of downtown where there's a bigger lot (not sure if that's also 2 hr free parking like along the tracks). I'm looking forward to further wanders through the market as more vendors return for Spring.
