The wife and I were staying at the Holiday Inn Express near the airport on the last night of our trip, and the options for food nearby were limited and seemed more overpriced than usual. McDonald's it was, then!
The first thing we noticed when walking in was a large touchscreen where we could order and pay. One step closer to autonomous food delivery! Another screen overhead shows whether your order is ready or is being processed.
I also noticed a row of four seats equipped with a tablet that has nutrition info, games, news sites and more. Too bad more of the tables in the restaurant didn't have these.
Despite signage asking patrons to clear their tables, most of the people dining around us left their trash at the table when leaving. I'm not sure what kind of service they expected from the workers here, but that service was definitely not provided. Tables were left dirty, the floor was a bit dirty, and even the tablet I was using had some ketchup smears on it. Cleanliness is apparently not a big thing here.
The food was fine, though portions were smaller and prices were higher compared to back in the US. Dorothy said it best: there's no place like home! read more
