We were traveling in through Cashel on our way to Cork in a day's time and wanted to see the castle…read more(trust me, it is totally worth a stop - you are free to explore and walk where you please in peace and quiet). We were trying to remember the name of this restaurant and finally remembered the name!!! The service and the atmosphere was like your mother/grandmother serving you in their own home - very warm and cozy and traditional. We believe the owner (ryan's daughter i'm assuming if i'm not dumb?) took and served our order and she was extremely friendly. I had the lamb stew and my fiance had soup as well, both with some great brown bread. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone wanting traditional Irish home cooking where all of the locals seem to stop in. Eat at a true Irish restaurant!

I meannnn, it's a McDonald's but for a McDonald's this location is great. We went around 8:15 am…read moreand it was super empty and quiet which was nice. There were wireless chargers on each table, a major plus, and the employees were all super friendly when we picked up our food. We ordered from the self serve kiosks in front then ate in. We got one breakfast roll with ketchup (good - like a combination of a egg McMuffin and a burger), one with brown sauce (pretty good, sauce was kind of a weird savory-sweet mix though), an egg McMuffin (always solid), a ham and cheese toastie (basically an aggressively average ham and cheese quesadilla), and some oatmeal (pretty bland, but really perfect for someone with an upset stomach). We also got a latte (decent) and a cappuccino (great)! The hash browns were good, could be crispier though. Overall, a very solid McDonald's experience with good fast food.
Okay, stop shaking your head. I know what you are thinking...1) this boy is reviewing McDonalds?…read moreand 2) he gave it 4 stars? I am not suffering from a case of H1N1 after my recent trip to Ireland. Let me explain. First, here's the problem - you are thinking of McDonalds in 2009 America. Erase that. Think back to McDonalds 1978 back when it was a good establishment to get a meal. In March I visited England, Scotland and Wales and there were McDonalds, which I happened to stop at a couple. The menu was completely different than what we see in the US. They had the McLegend and other sandwhiches I didn't know. The portions were small, the "large" drink was our small and you didn't get ice. I had the same expectations in Ireland, but I was hungry and this Galway location was just down from my hotel, so I stopped. The first surprise I found was the number of customers. The parking lot was full. I went inside and there was a long line. Lots of kids in the restaurant, some of them running about (no PlayLand over there), The menu was basically the same we have, although somewhat scaled down. There was a new sandwich called the M, which I almost tried, but it looked like a slider on flatbread. I stuck with the standards. I ordered the sausage McMuffin with egg in the morning and a coffee. The sandwich was larger than what we get today in the US (probably in an effort to promote the US recession by keeping the price the same and giving a smaller product) and the quality was good. It was actually fresh and tasted like real egg and sausage. Yummy. Another day I stopped in the afternoon and took part in their mint chocolate chip McFlurry. The sign mentioned the excitement of "tasting the bubbles", which referred to these chocolate saucer pieces added. They didn't really do much for me, but overall it was good. I won't write another McDonalds review about a different location, but I will just mention that I stopped in one outside of Belfast in Northern Ireland and it was just as good. Again with a line to the door and crowds of people dining in. These locations in Ireland made me remember what made McDonalds an icon in the older days and I think they have gotten away from the in US. And really what says "road trip" like a stop at McDonalds? If you want a break from the black pudding or white pudding while dining on Full Irish Breakfasts in Ireland, give ole' McDonalds a try. You will be surprised!

As my partner asked when he first saw this place: is this the smallest McDonalds ever?…read more Perhaps and on this occasion I am sure they would have wish they'd built a bigger one. The place literally had a queue out the door. We were lucky to get parking in fact. Summer time and people were on the road going on to or from their holidays on the M7. But to be fair the staff played a blinder and the food was served up lickety split and the queue moved quick. Sitting outside the food, well its McDonalds... it was hot which can be a plus. Leaving we decided to use the drive through as the entrance was block with people leaving and people arriving. BTW when you see the "McDonalds: 3 mins" sign on the motorway, it is more than 3 mins away. Perhaps they meant the exit for this McDonalds was 3 mins away... oh well, first world problems. All in all, it was good. But the size (on this occasion), the parking and the misleading signposting from the motorway = A-OK.
