That thought came to mind today as I pulled in to the empty drive-thru for lunch. Have you ever noticed that if you spot an empty drive-thru that two or three cars pull in ahead of you? As if they were sitting around waiting for you to decide just so they could get in front of you at the place of your choosing? It is uncanny... So, two cars pull in ahead of me and my life flashes before my eyes. I'm gonna be here forever. But the first car stopped at the order station and in seconds pulled forward to the pay window - and the same thing happened with the second car - I didn't even have time to shift into park and turn on the radio! Then, I had no sooner pulled to the speaker than a pleasant, disembodied voice asked me what I would like to have. I told her and she instantly gave me a total and very polite instructions as to my next move - "pull forward to the first window." When I made the turn the first car had already picked up a couple sacks from the second window and was headed for the exit. by the time I paid the second car was departing with food. I got to the pickup window and a smiling lady was standing there with my order as if I'd called ahead. I asked for a condiment and she turned and asked another worker for the product. I listened and it sounded like everyone working inside behind the counter were saying, 'yes, ma'am, yes, sir,' to EACH OTHER, not just the customers. What? Isn't it 2018, the age of apathy and laziness? It was like I'd gone back in time to when people were proud of their work, their workplace and their product. Impressed? That would be an understatement. This was not only the fastest trip through a drive-thru I can remember, it was also the most pleasant, by far. Hat's off to Wendy's, Campbellsville and whoever was setting the pace for quality customer service today. Lastly, you may have noticed I only gave four stars.
