I had the misfortune of Rachel representing me for a child abandonment case in Fulton Co. She is so…read morerude and unprofessional on every level. She requested I call her and when I did she talked over and refused to allow me to answer the question she'd asked me. I asked that she stop interrupting me several times before she HUNG UP ON ME. She then told the judge, I was difficult to talk to and that I wanted to represent myself. My case was dismissed due to lack and poor legal representation. And to add insult to injury accordingly to the Dekalb Lawyers Association, she has a niche in Father's Rights which in my opinion is a complete conflict of interest and explains why she was so hostile to me for no apparent reason. This wasn't my first encounter with her, I took the same action back In 2018. She was rude then and told the Non custodial parents they could pay $1, the bare minimum and that would suffice. I was shocked and outraged that she'd state this in open court when she was representing Custodial parents fighting for financial support for their children. I'm not sure if she took her meds during both of my unpleasant experiences with her but she definitely has some mental health issues that she should definitely seek help for. Read her responses to other people's reviews. Not the response of a professional. Perhaps since she doesn't have children of her own, it makes her insensitive and Unempathetic to these kinds of matters. If you have a complaint against her or witnessed her unethical behavior, I'd implore you to make a formal complaint with State Bar of GA, The Consumer Assistance Program, GA DEPARTMENT OF LAW'S CONSUMER PROTECTION, and OFFICE OF THE NSW LEGAL SERVICES COMMISSIONER OF GA to avoid anyone else from having this kind of encounter with her. I was referred to Atlanta Legal Aid by the small claims court division. At the time of referral, I…read morewas not made aware of the income requirements and proceeded to call the office. I waited on hold for 51 minutes and had my call answered by an employee last name Hughes. The call was assumingly routine, beginning with income. I was calling on behalf of my father and was unsure of the income and wanted to confirm. I asked Ms. Hughes to give me one minute to confirm and she said I'm placing you on hold. Placing on hold was another 5 minutes. When she returned on the line, she had an aggressive annoyed tone and I asked her "why did she place me on hold when I asked for one minute after being on hold for 51 minutes" she didn't answer my question and asked me for the income. I then asked her for her name which she refused to first only providing me with her last name stating "she was the only Hughes in the office and if I would like to speak with the managing attorney" which she then transferred me to, assuming fully aware that I would reach the voicemail. In the beginning of the call it states that there will be a lengthy wait time, so the employees have to be aware that potential clients calling in are on hold for long period of time. Whats the point of being obnoxious? How can Dekalb county trust you to represent if you are unable to assist with a level of decency?!?

I was assigned to a lawyer and was told I would be contacted in two days. After making multiple attempts to reach out and contact the lawyer myself an "intern" called me a week after I was supposed to be contacted. I gave her all of my information regarding the case and emailed over all of the documents pertaining to it as well. She told me that she would review the information with the lawyer and give me a call back. Needless to say I never got a call back. I even went down to the office a week later to meet in person. The receptionist said that neither one of them were in yet but were scheduled to be there that day. I waited for an hour and half for them to arrive and they never did. I was told no one else could talk to me so I left. I still have yet to receive any contact from them. I understand that it's a free service, HOWEVER, someone should have had the decency to contact me and at least let me know if they could help me or not. You shouldn't be receiving grants to help people if you are never going to actually help them!
