We received our dog, Echo, from Robert last summer. I cannot say enough about Robert and his beautiful dogs. First, Robert was wonderful to work with. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional! He was so responsive to questions and always willing to listen and offer guidance and tips. Second, he provides families with exceptional dogs. Echo is an absolute joy. He is smart, calm, loyal and super affectionate. He is protective of me, my husband and my kids - but that quality is in balance with the others. We live on a fairly busy corner, with a good amount of traffic and lots of pedestrians. Echo is beloved by all of our passersby. He sits outside with interest and actively greets those who pass by. They now call him "the mayor" - people come up to us when we are walking him in the neighborhood and say - "Oh we love your dog! We come to see him every day!" Echo and I hike 3-4 miles about 5 times per week. He is focused the entire time and very attentive to my direction. He greets other dogs calmly and will actually lay down for the little ones. We routinely take him with us for an outdoor dinner in town and he sits by us watching people and just hanging out. I cannot say enough about his temperament. He adores my kids and they have hug fests every night. I have also learned how important it is to use a qualified trainer that understands dog psychology. It is a huge responsibility to have a dog and there are very important things to be aware of - particularly in the early months. For example, they need time to adjust to your family and home in those first couple of weeks. Then they need to be exposed to the world regularly and in a supported way (e.g., teach others how to approach your dog respectfully and teach your dog how to receive a new person). Robert provides beautiful dogs with so much potential and it is our job to nurture that potential. I consulted with a few trainers when Echo was a pup and was stunned by the poor advice some gave. Some trainers also give premature and ill-informed assessments of pups as anxious, aggressive, submissive and so on. I was also saddened when I would see other owners expecting their dogs to "behave properly" and yet put no effort into training. Thankfully, I did my research, kept looking and found a great trainer. Love your pup, learn about the stages of its development (e.g., what is reasonable to expect and key things to be teaching at that stage), and take the time to train it properly. You, your family and your dog will reap the benefits! Robert, thank you so much for the work you do. I have never posted a review online, but Robert Bennett is a breeder that must be publicly praised. My boyfriend and I wanted to get a puppy that would be loyal, protective, confident, and loving. After extensive research, we determined a shepadoodle would be the perfect fit. From our initial outreach, Robert was attentive, dependable, and BEYOND knowledgeable on the breed. It was obvious that Robert has an overwhelming love for his dogs. His confidence and pride in his work were undeniable and confirmed to us that we found the perfect match. We were so determined to get one of these puppies that I (with a mild case of hypochondria) chose to fly across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic to bring our beautiful boy home. When I first saw Ranger, I instantly fell in love. He was an adorable ball of blonde fluff, very clean, and healthy. Ranger and I bonded within 15 minutes of meeting. I've never met a calmer or sweeter dog in my life, let alone an 8-week-old puppy! His intelligence was instantly recognizable. Once Ranger was comfortable, Robert quietly left. As a first-time dog owner, I was terrified that Ranger would whine, cry, and try to find his way back to Robert. To my surprise, he pranced around the room before curling up in my lap for the evening. 12 hours later, we were on our way to the airport. It took less than 5 minutes for Ranger to comfortably settle in his new carrier. While I've never experienced air travel with an 8-week-old puppy, I surely did not expect an easy journey of two flights, one layover and a two hour car ride. I was quickly proven wrong, as Ranger was an absolute angel the entire way! The compliments on my well-behaved boy came flooding in, reassuring me that I had made the perfect choice. Ranger came home on his 8-week birthday. Within 72 hours, he mastered staircases, name recognition and his first command (sit). His herding instincts are apparent and has a strong sense of pack. While I am new to ownership, I have been around dogs for years and can attest that this is a superior breed! The work that Robert has put into designing this dog to have the best traits of both the German Shepherd and Poodle is outstanding. Robert has put his life into his work, and it really shows. Ranger had his first training session at 9 weeks, and within an hour mastered "sit, down, place, and come". He has excelled in house breaking and now sleeps peacefully in his crate through the night. His intelligence and desire to please is overwhelming, so much so that my boyfriend and I have already decided that our next puppy will undoubtedly come from McCumberhaus. If you want an intelligent, family/service dog that is respectful and well-mannered dog then look no further. Each dog will have its own energy level, but hands down Robert breeds phenomenal dogs! We are very experienced dog owners and I am very serious about the dog and breeder (I flew to Norway for a Giant Schnauzer 10 years ago because I couldn't find a breeder here in the USA that was proactively testing for health problem the breed known for). We specifically picked this crossbreed, because of key traits the Poodle and GSD have. Intelligence wasn't a question with either breed... but we wanted more strength and calmness than the average St. Poodle and a more inquisitive-bounce than the average GSD with no shedding. I contacted Robert with specific questions about his pups and his older dogs. He spent over an hour on the phone with me the first time. We emailed several times and talked again. I told him I had to see the dogs in person, because its energy level was critical to us. I saw the poor review on Yelp, so I contacted one of the other reviewers who had recently been to his place. After talking with that reviewer I decided that I wasn't going to let one bad review stop me from possibly getting a great dog/pup. We rented an RV and drove out from Denver. Everyone is going to have their own opinion. Does Robert keep his place as clean as we keep ours... no, but he's not a hoarder. Robert doesn't have a fancy home or kennel, but the dogs were in great shape and were well taken care of with fresh water and food. He isn't running a puppy mill which was one of the things I needed to see. We picked a 4-month-old, black, F1 female - that we named Zuzu. She road all the way back to Denver in a small RV which is a crazy situation. She learned to walk on a leash in less than 10 minutes (I am not kidding). I take her downtown Denver twice a week to work and nothing phases her. I have never had a dog that I get so many compliments on (her coat and her behavior) ... people can't believe she's only 7 months old, because she is so well behaved. They love her at Starbucks. Robert emails and text me each day on the way home and has continued to check in... there is no question that he cares about his dogs and the breed. PS - If you get one of Robert's dogs you are getting a great package, but you still have to put time and effort in (exercise, structure and then affection). Robert Bennet (the breeder) is incredibly dedicated to his breeding program, and gave my girlfriend and I a wonderful experience. He put up with all our doubts, uncertainties, and requests about our dog (of which there were many, as this is her first dog). I originally contacted him about his dogs in winter 2019, at which time he was unsure when exactly he was going to have a litter of the dog we wanted (an F1 shepadoodle). He kept us posted and was clear and honest about when we might expect a puppy. Engage Robert in a conversation about his dogs and you're sure to be impressed. He has good reason to be proud. The puppy we picked up was everything he promised and more. Gentle, calm, fearless, and a total people-pleaser. Ranger is wonderful. He's a big, healthy, robust puppy who picks up on commands and cues very easily. He is gregarious with our other two dogs, and is completely submissive. I have no doubt that this dog will be the perfect hiking companion for me, and he is already inseparable from my girlfriend. Quick to potty train, and gentle with his mouth. If you're looking for a good pet or therapy dog with low to no shedding (ours still has his puppy coat so we shall see about that), look no further. Be forewarned, however, that an F1 Shepadoodle is a large dog. About 16 lbs at 8 weeks. If you're looking for a medium-sized dog with a curlier poodle-like coat, ask about his F1b Shapadoodles. I have had 5 dogs over the years, and "out of the box" this puppy is head and shoulders above the rest. With the F1, expect a shepherd with poodle fur and floppy ears (see attached photos of Ranger). They are long in the body, with a slight slope at the back, and a working shepherd conformation. Robert was very accommodating about our travel needs, and let us know ahead of time about the size of our puppy, so we could come pick him up before he got too big to take on a plane (mid-pandemic no less). Dear Robert, Gracie, our new shepadoodle, has been with us for only a couple of weeks and we're all just smitten with her. She's such a joy. It was quite a process for us to decide what dog would make a good addition to a bustling family of 3 boys, but we couldn't be more delighted with her temperament and high-lovability factor. She's just the sweetest who loves to be held, tickled and of course petted. And while the boys have loads of fun playing chase and practicing clicker training with her, I think I'm the one who has been completely taken back with her. As someone who grew up with hunting dogs, I guess the only dog that I've known were ones that were incredibly high-energy so I'm just delighted to have a dog that likes to cuddle, be close to my feet and who isn't running through the house like it's grand central station. Gracie has taken well to crate training and she now even wonders in her crate during the day to have a little quiet time. She's adapted to being in the car with no more car sickness and loves to look at the window from her crate. She's had her next round of shots and has her first trip to the groomer on Friday -- oh boy! She enjoys the weekdays as she'll rest by Bryan's feet while he works from home and then maybe head out for a walk or a quick car ride. The weekends are busier for her. Saturday we had a triple header baseball game. She's now the unofficial mascot for all three of the boys' teams. I'm amazed at how she just hangs out by my feet lounging in the grass with a few walk-abouts during a game. Lots of petting by fellow team mates, parents and children. I'm not sure if all of your pups are amazingly mild-mannered, loving and smart as Gracie, but if they are you really have a great thing going. I've lived with three Shepadoodles. All have been wonderful dogs. The first was an"accident" between a poodle who leaped a high fence and a Shepard on the other side. The second, bought from an out of state breeder​, died early of congenital problems. Broken hearted I researched breeders and found McCumberhaus. From my first correspondence I felt I had found the right breeder. Robert was in constant touch with me about my puppy's mother's pregnancy and about the litter that was born. In spite of my picky requirements about exactly the kind of puppy I wanted ---and changing those requirements on a regular basis --- Robert patiently talked to me on the phone, e-mailed me, met me halfway between his kennel and my home to show me puppies he brought with him, and invited me to his kennel to see every puppy he had. Robert found me the perfect puppy --- although​ I suspect all of McCumberhaus's puppies are perfect. Robert continues to keep in touch to see how my puppy is doing and offering training strategies that work well. My puppy is beautiful and healthy. And, true to his breed, is intelligent, rambunctious, loving, anxious to please, happy and endlessly entertaining. My puppy is like this because McCumberhaus breeds puppies like this. Robert is a consummate breeder. If a puppy wasn't perfect, Robert wouldn't sell it. Robert is so much more than a breeder to my husband and I. He is a friend who brought another friend into our lives --- a four legged friend named Jesse James. I rarely recommend anything without reservation, but I recommend McCumberhaus without reservation. Best Dog Ever!!!! I found McCumberhaus online after weeks of searching for what I considered to be the best dog breed for my family. I contacted this breeder and immediately felt that I was dealing with an honest, trustworthy, individual who clearly had a very deep knowledge of this breed and a true passion for his dogs. We spoke several times and exchanged emails before receiving my puppy, to ensure that we choose the right puppy to fit my family. The breeder shared with me the contact information of a person who lived near me, who purchased one of his dogs previously. I had the pleasure of visiting with this person who showered Robert and his dogs with praises. I made the decision to buy a puppy and have it flown to me in New Orleans, LA, without seeing the dog in person. I made this decision trusting that Robert was an honest person. Bear(my puppy) is soooo much more than we imagined he would be. He has been with us for 7 months, and immediately became a member of our family. This animal is amazing! If anything Robert does not brag enough about the truly uniqueness of his breed. We constantly receive compliments on Bear's beauty but more importantly on his disposition. Friends and family can't believe he is just a puppy, yet is so intelligent and well behaved. My only regret is that I did not buy two puppies, from Robert. Since receiving Bear, Robert has contacted me on several occasions, simply to follow up on our experience with his dog. He truly cares about his dogs and his reputation as a breeder. Robert is great to work with and a true dog lover. He cares about his dogs and takes amazing care of them. My husband and I were thoroughly impressed with his honesty and integrity; he explained to us what to look for in a quality breeder even if we decided to get a dog elsewhere. When deciding to have a Shepadoodle as part of our family, we searched much for a competent breeder. We discovered that Robert was the very BEST! He has studied, is knowledgeable, breeding the best of the best in this breed. We met Robert March 4th, 2019 and we were very pleased with our experience and the choice of our puppy. This is a top notch breeder! I did a lot of research on shepadoodle breeders before choosing McCumberhaus. Without reservation, I can say I'm thrilled with the dog, and appreciate the thoughtful process Robert (the owner) has in place to guide you through the selection process. I spoke to Robert over the phone and he gave me some references I could contact in my area. After choosing my puppy from the photos Robert sent, I asked about her personality and he said she's a very respectful, sweet little girl. He was exactly right! She is such a respectful dog. She is playful, clever, energetic and athletic. Above all else she is respectful. I have two other small dogs and my Shepadoodle watches over them. She is always gentle and loving. She is extremely smart. From the reference Robert gave me I was able to find a trainer. The trainer commented on how easy it was for my dog to learn commands. McCumberhaus (Robert) breeds and raises high quality dogs. We got our pup Rocky the day after Christmas 2020. Rocky is loving, energetic and extremely intelligent... More so than any dog we've owned. He is 8 months old, healthy, well proportioned and we are always complimented on what a good looking dog he is. Rocky always wants to be at our side and is a wonderful companion. Regarding the business, I do believe you will get a quality dog from Robert. He does have a no-nonsense approach (don't let that worry you like some of the other yelpsters), and is very serious about his dogs; he does check in on previous litters and will require that you keep him updated on the health of your dog. This benefits all of us as well as the whole breeding process. I drove out to Robert's place with the intent of going home with a new companion. Problem was, they were all so cute and playful, I couldn't decide. Robert sat with me for 4 hours chatting, while we watched the puppies play and I struggled to decide. In that time, his love and extensive knowledge of the Shepadoodle breed became very evident and I'm thankful I found McCumberhaus. Since I picked up my Charlee girl, Robert has checked in with me several times and is quick to respond to my questions with solid advice. Everyone who meets Charlee, even timid children, absolutely love her gentle demeanor and marvel at how calm she is for being a puppy. We found Robert online. We contacted him and put down a deposit. My daughter and I drove from Utah to pick up her dog. Moose is an apricot F1b. I was so impressed with him. I called Robert again and put down a deposit for another one of his dogs. We visited again and picked up Willy a black F1. He is a great dog. I cannot say enough about the breed. They are healthy, intelligent, gentle dogs. They love people and are great with kids of all ages. Also good with other dogs. These dogs just want to please. Robert took the time to answer all of our questions. He knows the breed and he knows and loves his dogs. If I am ever in the situation to get another dog I will go to Robert. read more

I would rate this breeder very high and thanks to him I have the best dog I've had the pleasure to have ever. My Luna is now ~6 months old and is smart as can be and just goofy enough to be the star of the show around the house. Disposition could not be better and she puts up with our 3 year old grand kids just mauling her. She also gets along great with our 7 year old German Shepard. The Shepdoodle concept is great and produces some really smart dogs with great temperament. I have to comment on one of the reviews regarding AKC registration. Like golden doodles the AKC does not recognize this breed so papers obviously aren't possible. I'd say they are behind the times! read more

Coco, our F1 Shepadoodle has been with us since April. Shes great. Very mild mannered great disposition for our family. She is very patient and loving with our two girls (2&4 yrs) who constantly play with her and dress her in hats/costumes etc. Coco seems very happy to be a family pet: she follows us everywhere and just wants to be near us. When we take her to our place in the country we don't even fence or leash her, she just sticks around. We had Robert hold onto her for a few extra months and when she arrived she was house trained, and understood basic commands. Overall a very positive experience. We received our F1 Shepadoodle from Robert in February 2018. He is now 9 months old. We had a wonderful, easy experience dealing with the breeder. He sent pictures and updates throughout the waiting time. Everything he promised, he delivered. We have a healthy, happy puppy! This breed is very special. Learns very quick and is wonderful to train. He is so smart and eager to please. The shedding is very minimal. If you bathe and brush frequent enough, you barely ever find hair around the house. Matilda arrived just over one week ago and she is a complete joy. A bit skittish after her flight to the east coast, she has quickly shown herself to be a confident, smart and gentle puppy. She does well with other dogs, is adjusting to life in the city, is heeling well on a leash and is potty trained. Our 2 and 4 year old grandsons love her and she is so gentle and non-aggressive or afraid of them or the chaos they bring. She is healthy, no diarrhea since she has been here.
