There are also walking trails that wind throughout the park and along the river! One of my favorite things about the play areas is that towards the back of the park there is a playground specifically designed for younger children ages 2-5 years old! Although with supervision a one year old could easily play on this as well. This is great because a lot of typical playgrounds can be unsafe for younger children and more likely for an accident to happen. Next to this particular playground there is one designed for older children ages 5-12, so for anyone with multiple children they can play on the appropriate set and not get bored. Another great thing I noticed about the playgrounds, they have padded artificial grass underneath and around them versus the typical wood chips or rocks!

The park also has newly installed picnic tables. It just really is a nice place to have near by. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there is no dog park.

I saw someone in running gear from behind the restaurant area on about 13th / 14th Street and Peoria. Peaked my interest. I decided to see where it lead - what a journey!!! This park is located on the path of that trail (Midland Valley Trail). Nice, cozy, quaint park. Perfect place for me to catch a second wind :) This park has plenty of space to play / run around. Felt like a good place to take your shoes / socks off and walk around in the grass. This park is connected to Midland Valley Trail - which runs through The Gathering Place - ultimately reaching Riverside Parks. What a great walk!

(I have carried around a wiffle ball bat and ball in my trunk since high school for when I find places like this... really. Please still like me.) This park is hardly every crowded when I'm there and Olof enjoys the fact he can freely use the facilities since there are doggie pickup bags available to cleanup after himself. The Midland Valley Trails will provide a good walk and spit you out there if you choose to head towards downtown. Let's start a wiffle ball league of Maple Park!

They also have swing sets and a pavilion. There's restrooms and most of all, it's clean! There's plenty of shade and parking. It's fun for everyone and I appreciate places like these where families can take their children for a fun day -- wet or dry! Such a super cool place, would return and recommend highly!
