My oldest went through Big Kids and is now in Keyboard 1. I also love that it's so much more than just singing songs...they're learning about pitch, tone, patterns, instruments, etc. And all of the music is original! They actually create and record their own songs for the program, rather than just using the same kids' songs you hear everywhere else. We've taken classes in both East Roswell and Dunwoody and have loved all of the teachers. So many of them have been there for 20+ years, which I think says a lot! We've just had such a great experience and highly recommend to anyone looking for an activity to do together with your child!

We've had classes with Brian (who has an amazing singing voice), and Talissa and Rachel (who are great too). You'll see some long hairs on the floor, but I blame the moms who don't tie their hair back (not the staff as they swifter between classes). The classes have some structure along with free play time with suggestions based on the theme of the week (like obstacles, or tactile play etc). They repeat some of the songs and themes weekly which is nice as my son has started to recognize them and sings and claps along. I recommend learning the weekly songs and singing them at home. For example, I bought a mini Gymbo clown and every morning I sing "Gymbo the clown goes up and down...clap clap clap....waves bye bye" and my son loves it an then is really excited when they sing it in class and jumps up and down and claps with Gumbo (now that he's 1). It's a nice place to meet other moms and expose your child to other kids if they are an only child like mine. Even though I'm from the US, I find the American moms to be less friendly than the international people I've met. Not sure why (maybe they are more eager to meet new people), but I have some great friends with children my sons age from really neat places.

At issue was a song with lyrics that I felt were innapropriate for young children. We asked if they would change the music or refund our money. We were told that the parents liked the popular music and that toddlers couldn't understand the lyrics anyway. I disagree, but very well, I will take my refund and go away. They offered to not charge me for the second month, but refused to give back my money for the first month even though we only attended one class. If you care about the music that your toddlers listen to, please ask ahead of time before you commit to the payment. They do screen the popular music for bad lyrics, but they did not inform me during the free class that popular music was going to be played. The free class had children's music. I am sure my standards are going to be viewed as too strict, but I didn't like the lyrics to "I'm just a girl". I don't think it's healthy to tell little girls who are still forming their precious personalities that they are just girls, and that is all we will let them be. Even worse, I don't want my son growing up with that view of women. If you care about the music your child listens too, be sure to ask about the songs they will play before giving them your money.

Classes are monthly or yearly, and are 40-45 minutes long. They're usually some learning, about colors but its definitely more activity based, learning about rolls and jumps. My kid enjoys it because it's like going to the playground but with more obstacles and things to learn.

We had two different instructors - each wonderful - and were able to participate 2:1 kids to adults which was a plus. We also had our daughter's first birthday party there and it was a wonderful experience. Don and Kate are so helpful. The space is wonderful and we were able to decorate to the party theme. We had access to the kids' art table for food and cake and another attached room for adults as well. There is a bathroom with a changing table right next door. The Studios equipment and toys were so fun all the kids who attended - for ages newborn to 6. Parking and access was also a breeze. Definitely a great, nice, fun and afforable option we'd recommend.

This time I decided to make a gift for the boy instead of a little treasure for myself. So I searched for a place that's close to my suburban home and found Splatters. I made my way over there all ready to paint a mug for the cute boy's bday. The service was ok, but there was a new girl who didn't seem to know what she was doing. I didn't care much, though, because I was distracted by the like 8 bazillion little girls that came in for a birthday party at the exact same time. Shoot. Me. Now. I considered leaving, but needed the gift. I set out to find my mug and was thoroughly disappointed by their selection. They only had a dainty teacup-like mug you'd make for your grandmother, a big ol' soup-sized mug that would be great for some of my famous French Onion, but not good for a gift for the boy, and then like 10 "normal" mugs....except they all said MOM on them. Really!? I actually considered getting out my nail file and sanding it down, but instead decided to make him an ice cream bowl. Bleh. Whatevs. Other than the annoyance of 80 million children shrieking in the back room while I was concentrating on re-creating the Kenyan flag in paint (hard as hell, man!!), the rest of the experience was ok. I think I'd drive a little further to go to All Fired Up next time. Or even The Painted Potter, if it's still around. The selection was just piss poor and that's kinda the meat of this type of experience.
