I truly cannot even begin to express how grateful I am for the level of care I received at AdventHealth Winter Garden Innovation Tower. From the very beginning to the very end, I was treated with so much love, compassion, and genuine attention. The entire experience felt like God placed this team together just for me. From the moment I arrived, I was surrounded by kindness. Every single person I encountered played a role in making me feel safe, seen, and cared for. From the cafeteria staff, to room service, to transportation every interaction mattered. I want to start by thanking Stella from housekeeping, Lilly the puppy , Tashi from the cafeteria, and Carlee from transportation you all made such a difference in my experience. It wasn't just medical care; it was the small, thoughtful moments that truly meant everything. To my nurses Natasha, Yvette, Nicolas, Keila, Jency, Mamta, Cady, and Mideline thank you for your patience, your attentiveness, and your constant check-ins. I will list names, although I may not remember every exact role, but I absolutely remember how each of you made me feel. I especially want to give a heartfelt and EXTRA special thank you to my two daytime nurses the beautiful Black nurse and the lovely, spirited Spanish nurse. You both went above and beyond for me. You constantly checked on me, made sure I was comfortable, and showed genuine concern for my well-being. There was one moment that truly stood out to me my Spanish nurse noticed that my pain medication orders only covered mild pain, and I didn't have anything for moderate pain. I was in pain and honestly couldn't advocate for myself at that moment, but she did it for me. She personally called the doctor to request proper nausea and pain medication to make sure I was taken care of. That level of attention, advocacy, and care meant everything to me. To Angela Krebs, PA-C, thank you so much. When I felt nervous and unsure about what I was experiencing, you didn't dismiss me you listened. You reassured me, but still took the time to check and rule things out just to give me peace of mind. That level of care and respect truly touched my heart. And to add the icing on the cake you all even provided me with a loaner walker to help me regain my balance. That level of thoughtfulness and attention to detail did not go unnoticed. I also want to give a special thank you to the anesthesia team. I was definitely a little extra sleepy afterward , but that just shows I was in good hands. My pain level during the procedure was at a complete zero it wasn't until afterward that I required any medication. I truly appreciate the quality of care and attention to my comfort. Now, the biggest and most heartfelt thank you goes to Dr. Stephen McCarus, and his wife, Dr. Tamberly McCarus! Dr. McCarus is truly one of a kind. Not only did he perform my surgery with excellence, but he took the time to truly care for me as a person. Before my procedure, he prayed with me and that meant everything because I was so scared. That moment alone brought me so much peace. He listened to every single concern I had, especially regarding my keloid skin and scarring, and made sure to minimize my scars as much as possible. I truly felt heard, respected, and cared for. What touched me even more was that he came back later that night around 10 PM just to personally check on me. He made sure I was comfortable, advocated for my care, suggested ice, repositioning, and pain management; everything. That level of dedication is rare and meant more to me than words can explain. I was facing something major something that could have been terrifying but the way I was cared for made me feel so peaceful and safe that I didn't even fully realize the magnitude of what I went through until afterward. This doctoral be good for standard endometriosis surgery but anything complex he is not the surgeon for it. I would have rather him be honest and up front that my case was too complex for his surgical "expertise" if that's what you call it. He is more of a glorified salesman than an actual surgeon. He is all for the money and does not actually care about you the person (although he puts a fake smile and give false reassurance). It took me years to finally write this review but he made me worse than better. My biggest regret was letting him fool me that he actually understood endometriosis, which is sad because women who suffer from endometriosis already go through years of gaslight and misdiagnosis and not to mention botched up surgeries from surgeons such as Dr McCarruse who claim he is a endometriosis specialist. I am now seeing another surgeon for surgery number 3 and I pray she can fix the damage that he did. Oh and if he was such a great surgeon the least he can do is offer his patients undergoing surgery more than 10 days off work to recover!!! I had to beg for those days that should've been the red flag but when you're desperate you ignore these things. All I can say is good luck to anyone who thinks he will help their endometriosis pain. There are so many other surgeons out there please do your research before choosing this doctor! Dr. McCarus is the best! I was diagnosed with Endometriosis at 17 years old after a surgical diagnosis. One year later the pain returned and my current GYN sent me to a psychiatrist. Two months later I found Dr. Steven McCarus simply by googling specialists near me. I drove 2 hours once a month to see him, that's how great he was and still is! After examining me, he concluded my appendix was being effected by the Endo, so he scheduled me for surgery as soon as possible. He felt it was serious enough to schedule me the day after Thanksgiving, and removed my appendix which was infected with Endo. He continued to monitor me monthly with B.C. pills. If I didn't move to Chicago, I would still be seeing him! read more

in my personal opinion dr mccarus is an incompetent, inept physician. referred to him by my gyn for a thickened endometrium. he performed a d&c and hysteroscopy. 2 months later i went back to him with similar symptoms, pain and discomfort and asked for further testing. he told me, there were no other tests to be done. i had a ct scan, ultrasound and his two procedures. he felt it was my "fat belly" causing the problems and i should return to my primary doctor for treatment. I did and after 2 more months of unnecessary tests my primary sent me for another ct scan. he then referred me to a competent gyn./oncologist who sent me for another ultrasound. based on that he performed another d&c and hysteroscopy. he found a cancerous polyp. he then perfomed a total hysterectomy. either dr mccarus missed the cancer with his surgery or he missed it in his failure to perform more testing. i feel he let his ego get in the way of putting his patient and their welfare first. he felt he knew it all, saw it all and did it all and his patient no longer needed his services. he was wrong. this is just my personal opinion based on the treatment, or lack of, that i received. it could have had very serious consequences if i had not been my own advocate and continued to find good physicians who offered me the help, expertise and care i needed. i found none of this with dr mccarus. read more

"Doctor" McCarus spent less than 5 minutes with me, did a 2 second exam, did not listen to my full history or concerns. He wrote me off as being overweight. His bedside manner is absolutely horrendous, and he does not care about his patients. I got a second opinion. That doctor sat with me, listened to my history and concerns, and then stated I needed surgery. She found quite a few things wrong while she was doing the surgery. Do not go to Dr. McCarus, he is the worst. read more

I went to his office originally for burning sensation in my vagina and pain in my lower abdomen especially after sex. I got in to see Judy extremely fast and got medication for yeast infection and PID. The staff sat there talking to eachother for 5 minutes before addressing me at the window. They werent talking about patients or work....but their home lives. The person who input my files did not put in the right pharmacy for me at all. No I'm not talking about accidently sending it to a pharmacy close by. I asked for public and they sent it to Wal-Mart 30 minutes away from my address no where near my home or their office. I politely asked them to change the location since they sent it to saint cloud and I live in Kissimmee and so is their office. The girl who picked up complained about transferring my meds because on her screen it was only a few streets down...talk about rude! They then told me they updated the information in their systems for future medications. Judy was the first gyn to take my concerns seriously in 3 years and got me to see Dr Mccarus in a week. They were both concerned I might have endodemitriousis and scheduled me for surgery the week after that. I'm so grateful that they did. But again the office secretaries were ignorant. They were supposed to send in my meds the day before my surgery, but they did not. Dr Mccarus had to call them in the middle of talking to me before my surgery because they did not send it. They assured him they would send it in....come 5 pm when I finally get home from my surgery, I called my pharmacy and they have no record of my meds. None of the publix did. Of course I call Wal-Mart in saint cloud thinking maybe they just didn't change it, but Wal-Mart had no record of medication for me that was filled ever! I spent hours calling every pharmacy chain to no avail. They did not send in my meds. At this point it had been 6-7 hours since I had pain medication and the pain was terrible. It was literally crippling pain to where I couldn't get up. I called the physician on call after hours to explain my situation and horrible pain that was making me tear up and unable to get up out of bed. THIS IS A SYMPTOM TO CALL THE EMERGENY PHYSICAN ACCPRDING TO MY DISCHARGE PACKET!! I say this because the girl on the other end told me not to call this number unless it's a real emergency. I had had it. I calmly but assertively told her about how my pain was uncontrollable and I had no way to bring the pain level down, But yet I have to wait for the office to open the next up to get relief. That is ridiculous and that I don't want to get up to use the restroom the pain was that bad...how does this not constitute an emergency when it even states to call this number if they pain was unbearable. Only after repeating my situation in this way did she finally call Dr Mccarus to get this straightened out. She was extremely rude and agitated that I insist on talking to the doctor about my pain levels! Dr Mccarus was able to talk to be on the phone about controlling my pain levels for now with different forms of medication that did not need prescription to help ease the pain until I could call back the next morning to get my medication figured out. Beware of young staff! I'm in my early 20s so this isn't just some older lady complaining about the youth. I'm telling you if you go in be prepared to speak with very young secretary staff who are rude, inconsiderate, and do not do their jobs the right way. read more
