Tangled necklace

Called in advance to see if McCarty's Jewelry could help untangle some necklaces of mine. They were so helpful, and got the job done in minutes! Such great service. I've been struggling trying to untangle this myself for months. Thank you so much again!

It just keeps on ticking!! Thank you!!

Incredibly special experience was created by McCarty's Jewlers. Here's the story: My ex-husband suddenly passed away last year, leaving a very distraught daughter. She was not able to say goodbye to him but wanted a few things of his to remember him by. It took a while to get his things back, but in a little box I retrieved, was a pair of cufflinks I had purchased decades ago. (story within a story) My ex-husband was a history buff and fan of the book "Mutiny on the Bounty". He had always wanted to take a trip to the Cook Islands and Pitcairn, where the ship, "The Bounty", ended its travels. We could never afford a trip to the tropical islands, but I did another thing for his birthday and got him a pair of cufflinks made with Cook Island coins. Of course, they weren't expensive, but they were special to him. Once I found the cufflinks, I began looking for some way of setting one into a necklace. I took it to a few places, and no one was interested in helping, or didn't have the equipment needed. I mean, there wasn't much special about the 5 cent coin itself, just sentimental value. I'm sure it wasn't worth anyone's time. Then, a friend recommended I try McCarty's Jewelry. Remember that sweet scene in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" where Holly and Paul had Tiffany's engrave a Cracker Jack ring? Well, that's what Shelly did for me. I shared the story and Shelly worked diligently to find a setting that could hold the particularly weird size of coin, and it took a few tries to get it to work! She was in contact with me, letting me know they were working on a solution. Finally, she found a beautiful setting that would hold the coin and a lovely chain to match. So much hard work for a little 5 cent coin. Last weekend, I gave the very special gift to my step-daughter. She held back the tears as she put the necklace on. She absolutely loved it. I couldn't ask for a more special moment than that one. Thanks so much to Shelly and McCarty's Jewelry for taking care of my bonus-daughter. It meant more than you know.

Sized to fit! Took out about 4 links I believe cost $15

Thank you MCCarty's Jewelry for resizing my Citizens Watch. Everyone was very polite, respectful and welcoming. They even threw in a free ring cleaning.

I gave McCarty's a call last week to learn more about the time pieces they carry and was invited to come in and visit the store any time. I planned on doing so during the week - but as I was riding my bike nearby, I noticed that they were open on Saturday. I don't like to go into jewelers "under dressed", but since I was already there I figured I would stop in. I cannot express in words enough how welcome I felt when Michele greeted me and showed me their collection. She was very attentive to the specific items I was interested in and gave me good advise on which ones suited me well too. A+ customer service. Before leaving, Michele even introduced me to the entire team who seemed more like a family than coworkers. I HIGHLY recommend doing business with McCarty's - and hope to work with them for many years to come.

Thanks for fixing my dad's heirloom vintage watch at a more than fair price and in a timely, pun intended, way. I'm grateful.

A beautiful and very well run jewelry business. Each time I…read morevisit, it is as professional, kind, and leaving me feel like I made the right decision about purchasing from them. 5 stars in a row!

We specifically chose Mark Schneider because of its reputation as a fine jewelry establishment and…read moreexperience with custom jewelry. We were looking for someone we could trust to resize my custom engagement ring shortly before our wedding. Unfortunately, our experience made us leave almost immediately and take our ring elsewhere, I'd make sure you do not trust them with your custom jewelry. We initially called and were greeted very warmly over the phone and told to come in so they could take a look at the ring. The woman who greeted and assisted us in person was friendly, but once the other woman came in, I don't even think she introduced herself...we started discussing the actual resize, the experience became concerning. My engagement ring has two diamonds set inside the band at the 6 o'clock position. Preserving those diamonds and their placement was one of our biggest concerns, and we explained that. There was essentially no discussion about how the resize would affect them or how they would be protected. She simply took the ring and began making notes. Then came the sizing. I know approximately what size I wear, but the "6.5" sizer I was given was so tight that I actually started questioning whether I had been wrong about my own ring size( she did not give me the correct 6.5 sizer) . She also measured my existing engagement ring and confidently told us it was a 7.25. We knew that was not correct and have the original GIA/documentation for the ring. At that point, we became extremely uncomfortable leaving such an important piece of jewelry there. We were also eventually told that the jeweler who would actually perform the work would not even be in until Tuesday. Yet we were discussing leaving my engagement ring there and being given a Saturday completion date without having spoken to the person doing the work, without a clear explanation of how the custom diamonds would be handled, and with both my finger and existing ring apparently being sized incorrectly. My fiancé asked, can she try on a ring to see, she simply mumbled we don't CARRY RINGS OF HER SIZE. A fine jeweler doesn't carry any 6.5? Even an estate ring? Once we asked? So are we just leaving it here she said, yes? I immediately took my ring back. We were also asked outright how much my engagement ring was worth, which felt surprisingly inappropriate and uncomfortable. especially standing there with my fiancé. If there was a legitimate insurance or liability reason for asking, none was explained. The jeweler we ultimately trusted with the ring never needed to ask us that question; they evaluated the ring itself, reviewed the relevant documentation, discussed the custom work with us, and focused on the actual resize. When we left and went elsewhere. The difference was immediate. An actual jeweler correctly measured my ring ( very different size than at mark Schneider) helped me determine the best finished size and fit, discussed the two interior diamonds and confirmed how their placement would be preserved, reviewed the ring documentation with us, and gave us a clear completion date. That is the level of care and confidence we expected when handing over an engagement ring. Resizing a custom engagement ring requires PRECISION and TRUST. When an establishment presents itself as fine jewelry, I expect the person accepting a client's jewelry to either have the knowledge to properly assess it or simply say, "Our jeweler isn't here today; please come back when they can personally evaluate your ring." We came in wanting to give a local business our business. Instead, we left feeling relieved that we trusted our instincts and did not leave my ring behind. Based on our experience, I would not entrust an important or custom piece of jewelry here for repair or resizing or at all. What makes the experience even more disappointing is that the resize wasn't necessarily going to be our only business with Mark Schneider. We were also interested in discussing a custom men's wedding band. We specifically sought out a fine jeweler with custom experience because we wanted a relationship with someone we could trust with important pieces. After this interaction, there was simply no chance we felt comfortable moving forward with either.

We recently had an…read moreissue with the sizing of a client's ring, and with their wedding quickly approaching, we were in a bit of a panic trying to find a jeweler who could handle the work properly and on short notice in their area. Claydon Jewelers stepped up and helped my client out with flying colors. They were professional, accommodating, and, most importantly, took great care of the ring and the customer. As a jeweler with 45 years of experience, I truly appreciate the integrity and craftsmanship of jewelers who remain committed to their art and take pride in doing things the right way. I HIGHLY recommend Claydon Jewelers to anyone in the Redondo Beach CA area who truly cares about the quality, craftsmanship, and care that goes into the jewelry they own or purchase. It was a pleasure to work with them, and I'm grateful they were there when we needed them.

I brought my wedding band in for a repair after one diamond fell out (which I was fortunate enough…read moreto find). I was quoted a little over $200 for the diamond replacement and a very minor resize of ¼ size down. When I went to pick up the ring, I was informed--after the work was already completed--that additional prongs had been replaced on both sides of the ring and that I now owed an extra $240. I was never contacted, informed, or asked for approval before this additional work was done. The explanation given was that some of the prong work was necessary due to resizing. However, after waiting over 40 minutes at pickup because the ring was "in billing," I was then told the resize had actually been forgotten entirely and had to be done on the spot. This made the justification for the unapproved prong work even more concerning. After calling twice and initially being brushed off by sales associates, I finally spoke with the owner, who acknowledged that I had not consented to the extra work and agreed to waive the additional charge. While I appreciate the owner ultimately correcting the billing, the situation itself should never have occurred. Jewelry--especially a wedding band--is deeply personal. Any additional work, design changes, or charges should never be performed without explicit customer approval. Between the unapproved services, forgotten resize, and billing delay, the experience felt disorganized and stressful. I would urge future customers to proceed with caution, insist on written estimates, and require approval before any additional work is done.
