WOW! That's how I felt when I arrived to pick up my wingback chair…read more I was stunned and saw that Guy and Janelle had exceeded my vision and expectations in this restoration. They had taken a old antique family chair and brought it to life again beautifully. I had chosen a heavy velvet fabric and was unsure of how it would work and was readying myself for disappointment in case it didn't, but that was not the case. The original historic fit was perfect and the craftsmanship was evident. Great job! Thank you so much for bringing tears of joy to me and having this treasured piece back again in my home for generations of use to come! Highly recommend!

(See large photo below for the finished project). Permit this post to provide a brief backstory. In summer 2019, we "rescued" this vintage Dorothy Draper "Viennese" bench from Maryland. The bench was in unloved condition: Poorly reupholstered, shabby, and painted in gray latex paint (over the original lacquer and gold leaf). (See first small photo below). We began the rehab process last summer. This spring, my husband beautifully re-lacquered the bench, and he applied gold-leaf paint to the rosettes and other decorative elements. (See second small photo). At long last, on June 10, we delivered the bench to an upholsterer with whom we had previously worked. A week later, she provided a labor and materials estimate that was unequivocally outrageous. When gently pressed, she could not explain her numbers; she instead petulantly insisted that the numbers were appropriate for a small business. On June 20, we rescued the bench for a second time. On June 21, we delivered the bench to Feasterville Upholstery (also a small business) which had provided a firm estimate that was 40% of the first one. Here's the astonishing plot twist in the Dorothy Draper bench "dramedy": Feasterville Upholstery completed the project less than three hours after the bench's drop off (see third small photo, which Feasterville texted from the shop). The bench is home, and we could not be more thrilled with the result despite the unnecessary drama created by an unscrupulous contractor and the ensuing bench rescue from Chester County.

I needed restoration of five mid-century pieces that originally belonged to my mother. I had high…read morehopes due to the sentimental nature of the furniture and I was not disappointed! The pieces - coffee and end table, two small chests and a matching desk - were in terrible shape with cosmetic as well as structural damage. The top of the end table was beginning to crack. John understood the importance of the furniture and after cleaning and repair were done he worked with me to find colors and finishes like those I remembered. The result is perfect. The pieces still have character of time but look like they were taken care of carefully all of these years.

If everyone we did business with was as terrific as Paul life would we SO MUCH EASIER! To begin,…read morehis work itself was excellent. My husband and I had six Lane danish modern dining chairs from the '60s that needed new cane backs. The danish modern style weave needed to be ordered specially. Paul already had a relationship with a supplier of this uncommon product. The sheet caning and splines also needed to be dyed to match the coloring of the wood frames. He color-matched it all perfectly. And the caning work itself is really handsome. The chairs have gotten rave compliments for very design savvy friends. Paul is clearly very enthusiastic about the work he does. While my chairs only required sheet caning, he also does the traditional and much more skill-intensive hand weaving He showed me beautiful hand caned work he did as well as rawhide repair and other types of seat weaving. I almost wish I needed some of this work done! Lastly, but also very important is what a pleasant and conscientious person he is. He is remarkably polite and easy to talk to. His prices were very reasonable and he had the work done within the timeframe he originally proposed.
