This is a small business that seems to have no interest in doing any business. I pass this place…read moreon my way to work every day, so I called when I had a vintage chair I wanted re-upholstered. I had to call numerous times over several weeks, with no answer. Not even an answering machine. That should have been my warning... I finally reached a lady who said she was the owner. I said I thought it really unfortunate that she had no answering machine, because she might be missing out on a lot of business. Her only response was "I'm my own boss, and I guess I'm not a very good boss, hehehe." So I described my chair and gave approximate measurements. We discussed whether I could go with fabrics she had, or if I should buy my own at a fabric store, etc. I asked for an approximate price, and she asked if I could take pictures. I offered to e-mail her some, but she had no e-mail (of course!) So I agreed to take pictures and drop them off in her mailbox. I took like 6 full-color pictures, printed them out, and added a cover letter, reminding her of our phone call, what I was interested in, and asking her to contact me to give me an estimate. I gave my home address, my home phone, my work phone, and my cell phone. This was almost exactly one year ago, and I never heard from her. She's not dead or anything; I do see her in there once in a while when I drive by. So, sudden death being the only excuse I can think of for not calling me, I wonder, why would a small business owner NOT want business? She honestly can't be that busy. And if she WERE really busy, all she had to say was "I have a lot of jobs right now, but if you come back next month, I'll be happy to do this." But zip-zero-nada. I'm so tempted to just go in there some day when she's there and ask if she even cares about customers, or if her business is just a tax write-off. I really try to support local businesses, and I'll always try to patronize a local business before going to a big chain store. But this is another example of why the small local business is a dying breed.

She either orders fabric you pick out when you meet her, or she tells you where you can order it if you don't see what you'd like. Jeanne has an extensive collection of fabrics and we picked ours from her. She then comes to your home and pins the fabric on the item she will be covering. She then meticulously makes the slip covers! I cannot rave enough about the final result! Our couch was in great condition, but the fabric was dated, and we wanted to lighten up the room. Jeanne's Slipcovers were, without a single doubt, the way to go! The photos show our couch before and after. I have to say our friends thought we purchased a new couch! Jeanne made the covers for the pillows as well! Jeanne is friendly and easy to talk with. She is very reasonable...she does beautiful work!
