Ladies, especially, do NOT go to McCarthy Chevrolet in Overland Park. On the test drive, we heard a noise. The salesperson, Will, said service told him it was a tire problem and when we got new tires, it would be gone. The same noise is still there. They have had my car all day and are not going to fix the problem. In fact the service inspection says I need a front wheel alignment that they claimed they did when I purchased it a month ago. I'm supposed to "fix soon" my brake pads and rotors and they were new less than a month ago. Did they lie and not really put these items on my car when I purchased or are they lying now to get me to over fix my car. Do NOT go here!!! No manager has returned any of my calls! I scheduled an appointment the day before and upon arrival the sales person was with another customer and told me I would have to wait and then said the car I wanted to see was in the back lot. Even though they had 24 hours, it was not brought upfront for me. I was then assigned a different sales person and went on a test drive and asked for the Carfax. I wanted to buy the car and then I was told it was not for sale that it was already sold for wholesale. I then test drove a Ford Explorer and asked for the Carfax, which took 15 minutes to get. I could write a book on this new vehicle purchase. Let's just say from the get go it was a complete disaster. Throughout the process was lied to several times or if u wanna call it as the general manager said "over promised and under delivered". Basically they get u to sign paperwork and then on to next customer. Some things were out of there control but feel like the things that were could've been handled better. Took 2 weeks to finally get possession of the vehicle (it was at an out of state dealership). I have purchased 2 other vehicles there in past couple years and tried to purchase a 3rd one but got no response back after after a couple weeks so went elsewhere. We came here during Black Friday to purchase my SUV here. Eric Fish met with us after we found the car that I'd been looking for offered at a great deal. He was kind to meet with us since it was just an hour before closing time. The only hiccup was that when my husband asked to see if the car they had available was a "All Wheel Drive," I believe my husband may have said "Four-Wheel Drive" and Eric mistook that for "Front Wheel Drive," which the car ended up being, which is fine. The SUV has a feature that you can adjust for snowy conditions, and the finance guy also convinced me that here in K.C. we hardly ever use All-Wheel. He was right. My last Trailblazer was All-Wheel, and I never used it to take off-road and we haven't had heavy drifts of snow that I needed to drive through. Regardless, Eric was very polite and not pushy when he took us out for a test drive. Additionally, Eric had more important things on his mind as he had a family emergency and needed to leave town as soon as we wrapped up. They told me that the keys wouldn't work because the thickened of the keys are off (went home and confirmed that they aren't). My son bought a Hyundai there FOUR DAYS AGO to take back to California where he is working. He left KC for California yesterday, but only made it EIGHT HOURS and is currently stranded in Texas because the engine stopped on the highway. He had it towed to a mechanic, and the mechanic says the engine is blown. HE HAS DRIVEN THE CAR A TOTAL OF EIGHT HOURS OFF THE LOT. We keep calling McCarthy Chevrolet, and they keep making "gray area" promises...then say they have to double check and will call back.....change their mind after calling back an hour later. First, MCCARTHY said they were going to "honor the contract" because, as Frank from Chevrolet said, "we need to make good. You expect a car to last more than 8 hours." My son is on DAY 2 of being stranded in Texas, because they can't make up their minds. Currently, someone named Hank said that he "thinks" they will have it towed (I am sure this is because they want to rip us off and not replace the broken engine). My son does not know if they are going to tow it to KC or just do nothing....no one called him back...my son keeps waiting for the call back....both of us calling and calling. Please do not buy from them!!! OUR $15,000 car lasted 8 HOURS!!! The car he was driving prior to this was a 2007 Honda Civic with 300 thousand plus miles, and I guarantee it would have made it back to California. I am posting this everywhere I can because I am hoping no one else will be treated so horribly from a dealer. Awful people! read more

Don't ever buy from here, stay far away from this place. I bought used truck 4 weeks ago and had nothing but issues. Tires started leaking air found out my rim was cracked, they did fix it but very hesitant. A week later engine light turns on, called and said bring it in a few days so we go drop it off, well they said I'm not fixing it not covered under warranty. They said it was o2 sensors and warranty does not cover even know they said everything bumper to bumper would be covered. Lie!!!!! well I took to ford dealership and said sparks plugs bad and Cadillac converter needs replaced!! Watch your finance paperwork as well said the truck was $22,000 and when I got to the DMV to register the vehicle noticed it was $25,000 and they didn't give me as much for my trade as they said they would. I needed to have my car looked at and saw I could make a same-day appointment online for here, as opposed to a couple-day wait at the other Chevrolet dealership in the nearby metro area. As it turned out, the other dealership is simply honest, letting you know when they really will work on our car, and McCarthy-Morse lies about available times just to get as many people booked as possible, but then do not give you any idea when they will get to your car. This is embarrassing to admit, but my issue was that I thought my headlights would not shut off when I turned off the car, but it turned out I had them turned on. At McCarthy-Morse, they had my car for 3 hours before I decided to take it back, and they never looked at it. When I went to CD, they immediately came to help, looked at my car, graciously pointed out my error, then sent me on my way. It is not clear to me why McCarthy-Morse chooses to be deceptive, particularly being a dealership where potential future car buyers will avoid them based on their dishonest service center practices. read more

I do not recommend McCarthy-Morse Chevrolet. I brought my car there & asked for a new battery. I could jump start it and drive it for an hour or two, but car would be dead again the next day. They said the battery tested fine but the alternator didn't & I should replace for $750. So I called a trusted garage I know. they said I wouldn't have been able to drive it for an hour without it dying if the alternator was bad. The honest garage tested everything again and guess what? Alternator is fine. They replaced the battery and it is working just fine. McCarthy charged me $106 for their bad diagnosis. don't waste your time or money there. read more

The service department at this location is horrible. They might do good work but at this point I have no idea. I made two "appointments" to have a diagnostic on my car done with the person taking the reservation saying it would take a few hours. The first time I had to leave after three hours and it hadn't even been taken back yet. Same thing happened today except they had access to it all day. Still has not been looked at. No help with rental/Uber assistance, no estimate on when it might be even looked at. Again, I made an appointment both times and go screwed. Beware. read more

Service center review; their online appointment process is super simple and the service once your there is good. They keep you informed on your progress and if you OnStar, it sends you a notification when your service is complete. This is especially helpful if you have to leave your vehicle there to run errands, go to work, etc. Bill is the service center has me multiple times and is always friendly. Not only did I have a great experience purchasing my truck from them in late 2016, they haven't let the service oriented, friendly environment slip at all after they earned me as a customer. We went to Morse McCarthy to look at a used car they had listed on Auto Trader. They tried to add a line item of almost $2000 that was for two oil changes and a coating for the paint and leather interior. When we said we did not want that, we were given a song and dance about welcoming us to their family and they would waive that fee. The next day we went in to sign to buy the car, and I looked on their website and they had the car listed $2000 less than they quoted us. I immediately called and said we want that price. I was told that was just a mistake. They would not budge on the price. We knew we were not getting hurt with our original price, but what a horrible business practice. We talked to the finance manager about an extended warranty as the car was 7 years old. Were quoted approximately $4700.00. When we went in to pay for the car we told then we did not want the extended warranty. They asked why, and we told them we got $2000.00 less from the insurance company then we had expected. But guess what they were having a sale on extended warranties with $1800.00 off. Really, two days later the warranty dropped $1800.00? We were not stupid enough to fall for that. We decided to get the extended warranty from Volvo. Next was the 182 point inspection. The only thing they found on a7 year car was one wheel was out of align and needed a new cabin filter. After we picked up the car we immediately took the car to the Volvo dealership for an oil change. The Volvo shop found the back brakes were at 2-3 millimeters not the 6 millimeters that Morse McCarthy reported. At 3 millimeter, it would not have passed inspection and would have had to been replaced. Also, Morse McCarthy said the anti-freeze was fine. Volvo checked it and said it would not last during the winter, yet another item Morse McCarthy did not want to report, as that would not pass inspection. We ended up spending $1400.00 to correct items Morse McCarthy did not report as defective. We will never go back to Morse McCarty, as in our opinion you cannot trust sales or service. read more

Absolute Amateurs! I sat in the waiting room for almost three hours waiting for an oil change that didn't come. The service staff didn't listen to what I actually said when I brought my vehicle in, they just went ahead and did what THEY wanted without double-checking or confirming with me. Apparently I ended up on the list for people who would come back later. When I gave them my info, I started telling them I would come back, but, IN THE SAME SENTENCE I told them 'I have time, I'll stick around, where is the waiting room?', I then sat down in the waiting room! I even got up and walked back into the service advisors area to stretch my legs after an hour or so. When my patience ran out in the waiting room, I went and talked to the service advisor and asked how long it would take to finish an oil change, I was told 1 to 1 1/2 hrs, I said I been there almost 3. I asked them if my car had even be started on, when I was told "No", I said I would just leave with my vehicle. They told me my vehicle would be brought around for me to leave. After standing in the bay area waiting for my car for several minutes and talking with an advisor about why I was waiting so long, he told me the woman with my keys was looking for me. It turns out, while I was waiting for my car to come around, the woman who supposedly had my keys had no idea that she or anybody else was supposed to bring my car around or even where my keys were. It took a few more moments for them to find my keys and bring the car around. I talked to the supervisor Craig over the phone later who proceeded to berate and blame me for his people not listening to what I actually said and did. He also told me how short staffed and backed up he was, but while I was waiting for my car to be brought around, I watched one of his technicians standing around the bay area simply playing on his cell phone! Update: I emailed the general manager of the dealership several days ago regarding this encounter. He doesn't even have the professionalism or regard for customer service to even respond to my email. read more

My wife showed up at the scheduled time, Lucas, the service rep insulted her for booking online. then my wife had to wait with our 7yr old daughter for 3.5 hours just for an oil change. I have went here several times for an oil change on my fleet vehicle, never had any issues. My wife tries to help me out this time and it was absurd. They have my fleet info saved every time, but apparently this time, they told her they don't save any of that information before even looking up our account. Why wouldn't you keep those notes? Also, when you first pull up, no one ever greets you and they all expect you to know what's going on, where to park, where to wait... might as well take down the "Service" sign, because there is no customer service here at all! Where do I start..... 1st off the prices listed on their website are a bait and switch. Once you arrive at the lot to get the car of dreams for that dream price they inform you that the prices are different and the price online is contingent on you trading in a vehicle 2011 or newer..... My daughter went there to look at cars and on top of the pricing being different, once they wrote up the contract (after taking her back on her own) the sales price was an additional $2,000 on top of the additional $2,000 that the in person vs online price was. My 2nd red flag should have been when they suggested she come back to discuss on her own without me present. They then added all of this extra BS to come up with a price totaling a whopping $10,000 more than the supposed price of the car. They are fast talking shysters and I wouldn't recommend anyone go there to purchase a vehicle. Oh and on top of that, told her to just toss her paperwork (A FLASH DRIVE) in her glove box so that she would be none the wiser of how much she got screwed!!!! and now that she is trying to return it - they speak of a $2,500 restocking fee..... I had my 2017 Bolt taken to McCarthy to repair the wheel assembly. They originally told me they would have it back in a few days. A few days turned into a few more, then a week, and, as of writing this review, they still have it after over 3 weeks. They claim the biggest setback was receiving a part for the Volt instead of a Bolt, which they were quick to blame on their vendor. It took another week for the correct part to get in and several more days for the car to actually be worked on. After being told it would be ready yet again, they found an issue with the wheel itself and told me it would also need replaced (which they had already told me had been done, but evidently not). When I mentioned these issues and setbacks to the rep, he became defensive and refused to take any responsibility. My experience has been awful and I will never be using McCarthy for collision repair again. read more

They wanted to give me 1,000 less then what kbb says is the low end trade value of my car and to top it off they wanted to sell me the car for 16,500. They said it was because my trade didn't qualify for the trade in allowance! What?! If you list your vehicle for a certain price and then decide to tack on an extra 2,000 during negotiation you can go f*ck yourself. If this is how they do all their deals I'm surprised they're still in business. This is the kind of dealership that gives used car salesmen a bad name. Ken Kistner, the service manager, kept me appraised via email while I was overseas and we had it fixed so that the day after I got home, I simply got a ride over and picked up my car. This dealership's service department is unbelievably horrible. I guess I didn't learn when they had my Tahoe for 3 months for a minor coolant issue last summer. I stupidly took it in back to them Jan 16, 2023 for a back up camera problem and they still have it and it is not fixed. They come up with every excuse in the book and now it seems to a fuse box. You'd think that a competent trained service dept would be able to figure that out right away. But it is going on a month now and this clown show is still fiddling around while I pay for a rental car every day to go to work. I am beyond frustrated and they could care less. Could. Care. Less. Got my oil changed here on my Silverado. The next day there is a small puddle of oil in my garage. I get under my truck to discover the oil filter was loose. Took my wife's Equinox here to diagnose a jerky shifting of the transmission. We told them that the problem occurs on large hills. They took the vehicle around dealership for a spin on relatively flat roads and said they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle. The waiting area is very clean and the guys I've spoken to to make appointments and lady receiving payments at the window were always courteous. read more

I bought my wife's 2015 Acadia in 2018 here. That vehicle has gone to this dealership for absolutely every oil change and all required service intervals. Took the Acadia in for an oil change this past Saturday 3/18/23. At the end of the oil change, I was told that the bolt for the oil pan was "Completely stripped" and that It would cost just under 3K to fix. I sent an email to the service manager explaining that every single service has been done by them and how was this missed? Why am I jist hearing about this? I brought it in on 3/20 and was told that there was no way they could see this coming, but then told me that they could see metal shavings in the oil pan. That should be a sign. Then they offered me a $100 dollar discount. You voice your concerns and they don't answer...just look at you and nod "yea...yea' I'll get this fixed at another dealership. My car needed a new fuse for the fuel pump. I had my car towed in and an appointment set, they managed to lose my car for over a day and no one could locate it or even find my appointment. The scheduling department was unbelievably rude and just kept transferring my call or just hang up. Someone in the service department finally located my car and now it's even more damaged than before I brought it in. The battery has now died and somehow the key is stuck in the ignition, my battery was not dead and the key has never been stuck in the ignition. I was told they can't do anything for me until I replace my ignition and get a new battery so they can actually fix the original issue. I was told management would call and speak with me and no one has called. Very disappointed in the lack of communication and the lack of respect for others property, how do you lose someone's car!! read more
