I've been going to McCalla Eyecare for years--probably about a decade. My kids are seen here now, and I've only had great experiences. We love it here. I've since moved to Homewood and am still returning to McCalla for our eye care. read more

I moved to this side of Birmingham area recently and had to find heath providers closer to home and work. I called for an appt, they got me in the same week. Staff is friendly, small waiting area but they are moving into a larger office in the same plaza. I'd been having a little trouble after hours and hours of computer work so wanted to get some glasses to to ease the strain. I've had lasik eye surgery about 11 years ago so finding someone who is knowledgeable and able to get the rx right can be a challenge. Dr Pickrell took a lot of time trying various combinations until we found what was a good option for me. Most may have gave up after a short try. They have parking in front and side of the building. Wait time is pretty short compared to most medical offices. read more

My wife and I have been going there once a year for about 5 years and today was the 3rd time they canceled my appointment at the last minute. I work 8 to 5 weekdays and weekends are the only time I can come in. Many people I have spoke to say this has happened to them as well. I will never return to them again and I don't recommend them at all. Very unprofessional for a doctors office. read more

I had an eye exam…read moreand ordered glasses all in the past week or so The one girl sitting at a desk was much more interested in chit chatting. She finally acknowledged my arrival after I stood around at the counter. For my eye exam, it was sit there - go In here- do this - do that. No please, no thanks. No explanation of what was going on. No politeness. It is pretty much self serve and figure it out. When I picked out frames and was measured, the girl said they should be in on Monday. Today is Wednesday. No one called and no word so I came in. Again, no greeting until I stood here awhile. When another couple came in, then there was a greeting. A clerk said I think these just came in. Oh. I thought they would be here Monday. Anyway. I am sure I saved a few bucks, but the service is kind of crappy.
