The initial repair person who came to see what caused the flood was the one who told me that the overflow preventer install caused the flood yet Appolo refused to reimburse me for the insurance deductible. Two years later another (different) company came for routine maintenance and showed me that the original ductwork was poorly designed because there is a rule that there should be 24 inches between secondary ducts and the end of each main line; it is clear on most online descriptions that this is ideal for maximum air flow through the system. When Appoly did the original install I had them come back because the air flow felt insufficient and they told me it was by design because the goal is to run the unit for a long time at a lower air flow for consistent temperature!!

I looked around for some repair services online and the best I could get was a week away, from Hogans. Then somehow Dick's Appliances popped up on my screen and I gave him a call. As he looked through his schedule I was thinking, oh man, I hope this guy doesn't make me wait a week also, then he said, "I can be there around 3:00 today, "Awesome I responded." Not having a fridge really sucks. Then he called back to say he could be over at 11:00 AM. "Great." I had the fridge pulled out and the bottom cover off. He immediately noticed that something down there wasn't even plugged in. When he plugged it I think we both expected the fridge to start humming, but we got nothing. Then he said, "your fridge must be in defrost mode." He pulled out a straight edge screwdriver, and under the cover, in the middle of the top of the fridge section, he turned a screw about 1/4 turn and, "Hmmmmm! Music to my ears. It was a simple fix and my worries of having to buy a new fridge melted away. His name is actually Dave and he was in and out in 10 minutes. Fantastic. He was kind enough to offer it to be done on Monday so we didn't have to pay two guys weekend hour rate since it wasn't quite dead yet. He even offered to bring over space heaters in case it died before Monday. The crew of young guys came Monday on time and were so kind and just as knowledgeable as Pat. My BF was at work and I had the day off so I was there with them and they didn't treat me any different than my BF just because I am an old lady lol. I had to leave for an appointment before they finished and had no worries leaving them my garage door opener to close up when they left. They even swept up when they were done! I told my mom to call Auchinauchie because of their ratings to get a second opinion. We ended up going with Auchinauchie because their people were so much more knowledgeable and helpful. They were awesome to deal with and did fantastic work. My mom sent me pictures when they were done and it was a clean installation and done correctly. The reason I know the work is good is I own a plumbing and heating business in Kansas. They weren't inexpensive but they were excellent. Would definitely recommend.
