When you pay your bill to have you already taken down they include a piece of paper asking you when you want your awnings put back up. I have been a customer for 2 years and the best advice I can tell anyone who either needs an awning made or installed is to NOT even think about using McBride. Based on my experience, they just don't give a crap about their customers. They were months late in completing our awning. They were late last year in installing and removing our awning. They can't be bothered to proactively tell you when they are not going to keep an appointment. If you don't call and hound them, you would never know what the status is with anything. We were planning on looking for another company after this year's installation anyway, but they accelerated that decision. We were scheduled for the installers the first week of May. As expected, they did not show and did not bother to call us. I called them Monday May 11th and was told they were sorry, but they had no idea when they were going to be able to install the awning. They literally told me they will get to it when they can, but had no idea when that would be. I placed a call to Jersey Shore Awning (JSA) and they told me if I can get the awning from McBride out of storage, they would install it by the next week. JSA returned my phone call and email same day. They installed the awning as promised. I can't quite figure McBride out. They make a decent product and their installers are good, but they just don't have the customer in mind and not worth the aggravation. They act like they are doing you a favor and are pretty rude and condescending when you can actually get them to answer their phone. read more

I can't even say one good thing about this company. I called in the middle of February 2020 and asked for them to bring our outdoor deck awning back and put it up for the season. I was assured on the phone that we were "on the list". I asked what that meant, and he said as soon as they were in Toms River, they would put it up. April 5 comes and still no awning. I called again. This time, he gave me a date of May 12th, 2020. I called on May 11th to confirm my appointment and left two unanswered messages. Today, the delivery date, I called at noon to ask when I should expect someone, to ensure someone was home. They told me it was 'too windy' and they would not be here today. I explained that I was sitting outside and there was no wind at all, to which the man on the phone replied, 'oh, well then, we are in Monmouth today, so we cant come." He refused to reschedule a date and said he would "get there when he can." I explained that this is a terrible business model, and that we paid for a service and would like that service performed. There was a second man in the background repeating very loudly, "end it". His next excuse was that Toms River is too far, and it's hard to get there. Mind you, their business is in Point Pleasant, which is just down the road. It is a 17 minute drive. The man on the phone then told me, as rudely as possible, "you have two choices, come get it yourself, or just wait. Those are your only options." I had my FIL go right over and pick up the awning. When he got there, he could barely walk through the store because it was a mess with awnings and fabric everywhere. The two men were even ruder to him, and barked that it would take 15 minutes for them to go get it out of storage. My FIL questioned this, as it should have been pulled already because we were scheduled to have it put up today. So basically, their business model is to lie. I absolutely understand that times are hard right now, and there is a lack of help, but there was such a blatant lack of customer service and to not be honest is just terrible. McBride's overall product is 100% top notch. They however, only get three stars for service. Every season they schedule a date and time for us and it never sticks. This year, our appt to get the back patio awning on was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon; here it is Friday and we still have no awning on. When I called Friday to remind them they were 4 days late, the jackass that answered phone berated me. McBride needs to close its doors. Worst run company I have ever dealt with. Every year they are 3-4 weeks (and longer this year so far) in meeting their commitment to the date you give them the previous Fall to install awnings for the summer. Rarely answer phone and when they do, you are on hold for 10-15 minutes. When they finally come back to you on the phone, they have no excuse and offer no time commitment. Often when they finally install your awnings, the work is sloppy, inferior and they need to come back to your house (eventually) to make it right. However, they send bills very promptly (within 2 days of service) and expect payment immediately! Bunch of hypocrites. Send them a message - don't use them. Put them out of business. McBride came to my home as scheduled, looked at the site and made some good recommendations. The cost was competitive and we were told it would take 4-6 weeks before installation. Right on time at 6 weeks they came and installed my 13' awning. The installation was flawless and they made sure everything was working correctly before leaving. Wish I could give this awful company less than one star. This is a terrible company. First of all, the sales person who came to give me an estimate on June 9th looked like a washed up pro wrestler, but I tried not to judge. After selecting an awning we were told it would be done in 6 to 8 weeks (which would have been 8/4 at the LATEST). When my wife called last week to inquire about the expected delivery date she heard someone in the office tell the woman who answered the phone "it won't be ready anytime soon" as he laughed. My wife called again today to ask and was told "I know it said 6 to 8 weeks but we are very backed up. We will call when it's ready". When told I would come by to cancel our order and pick up the deposit refund ($640) she was told "There is a cancellation fee, a restocking fee, etc." Looks like we will be taking this extremely unethical company to small claims court for treble damages (awarded for consumer fraud). Have been a long time customer and I have seen this company decline over last few years. Sister-in-law and neighbor feel the same way and we are not using them anymore. Last year waited 2 months for spring rehang despite scheduling prior fall. This year more than 1 month overdue and still not hung. Multiple empty promises and missed dates. Missed 2 family parties where we needed awning. Damaged furniture on deck when removing awning last fall. Rude owner. Abruptly places you on hold when you ask for a hard date instead of accepting their 'we will try to get there this week' after already missing multiple promised dates, and then you will be disconnected. Try to call back and it goes to their 1990's answering machine. I get you can have a bad work day but there is a pattern here. Management seems to be getting tired of business and it shows. I have been calling Mc bride awning since mid April to have my awning rehung. It is now June 1st this weekend and still no awning. I have used Mc Bride for years and always pay the minute I receive the bill. If I was a delinquent customer I would understand the delay. They tell me that they are delayed and or course do not work on a Saturday. What seasonal business does not work on Saturday ? They have had the entire winter off and should pick up the pace. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS. I set up this yelp account for this purpose only and I will probably never use it again. As most of the reviews indicate here, McBride's terrible reputation is well earned through years of hard work at being the worst. This kind of incompetence doesn't come easy. My boiling point was today, frustration is at a level that is hard to explain. After calling in late March and scheduling the installation of my awning for April 21st, they still have not showed up or reached out. I followed up when they were a week late and they asked me to leave the awning outside and they would install soon. Today they informed me that the decided last week not to install for customers who stored their own awning over the winter. 7 weeks after they scheduled to install for me, they made this decision. They also made a decision not to notify me of their decision to leave me hanging. Then when I vented for them not notifying me, he mocked me and pretended he couldn't hear me. These guys are and have been the worst in terms of customer service, but I have stuck with them for 12 years in spite of it. I've dealt with the rudeness, missed appointments, terrible customer service year after year. I foolishly replaced my original awning through McBride last spring for $1700. Loyalty means nothing, and then they are just not nice and tough to deal with. If you need an awning for shade, use someone else, or plant a tree. The tree will grow before these guys show up. Was referred by family who has more than once given them business -- So unfortunate to say one worker so poorly represented this company and I would never again recommend attempting business with McBride Awning . One specific gentlemen was highly unprofessional and was verbally abusive over the phone yelling and making statements such as , "g*d damnit do you want your awning?? If so stop asking so many questions" before abruptly hanging up. I was tempted to send in a phone recording but the better half of me decided not to drop to that level.
