I dance daily and Dr. Tyler is very efficient and resetting and unwinding all the strains I put my body thru. When he's done with a spot, it doesn't come back. He identifies, explains and solves issues. You'll feel great and come away really informed about where your body is at.

I didn't mean that as a brag, but to emphasize my belief that Dr. Gatteau is one of the most positive influences on my running career. His adjustments were huge for a temporary issue, but he helped me develop a process to approaching my sport from a recovery & wellness perspective that actually helped all areas of my life. I came in the summer of 2013 before my senior year of High school with issues with pretty substantial pain, inflammation, and tightness. He made some pretty important adjustments for the time. But he also taught me how to stretch properly, and to relax and naturally drop into a stretch. Using your parasympathetic nervous system vs. forcing into a stretch (sympathetic). This was all in 3 appointments, in one week when I was on vacation, with a huge impact on my career. Before meeting him, I was "injury prone", and at the time I was stressed, and worrying if I'd be able to complete my last Cross Country season in one piece. Instead I was All-State in Illinois Cross Country, ran a 4:15 mile in Track, and got a Division I scholarship. As I reflect on some of my happiest experiences as an athlete, I'm thankful that Dr. Gatteau helped me develop the relaxation process that allowed me to perform at peak levels.

It was based on my experience with him that I signed up for their monthly deals. He takes the time to recommend exercises. He truly wants you to get better. I will confess that I haven't taken the time to follow through on the exercises, but I will definitely be more committed going forward. Both chiropractors are great but I have my preference. Check in is quick when you scan you card. Waiting room is basic and certainly no frills. If you want water, you'd need to ask. Couches are comfy. I've had more comfortable wait areas at other locations in another state: teas, hot and cold water, mints, magazines, even adult coloring books. But functionally, I'd highly recommend.

This is the second doctor I have gone to on a regular basis at the Joint on Taft who has left unexpectedly and suddenly with no explanation. Dr. Justin also was just gone with no notice or explanation. A third doctor I was seeing regularly, Dr. Matt, went to Lafayette to start a Joint there, but there was plenty of notice when he left. I'm not a "one size fits all" kind of person though I understand that the Joint model assumes that all chiropractors and all clients are created equal. Dr. Caleb's work with me grew as he got to know me better. He always asked good questions that led him to help me more specifically over time. I'm really disappointed as I was just hitting my stride again with Dr. Caleb. It's not a good business model to have such frequent turnover and clients at the Taft office have declined as a result.

To avoid spending a few hundred dollars and waiting in the ER for hours only to receive minimal relief in the form of a few pain killers, I decided to bite the bullet and try to make it through the night. This morning, I spoke with a relative for advice, and they referred me to Elevate Sport and Spine Center based on their experiences with Dr. John Kuruc. Despite initial skepticism because of my poor experiences with a different chiropractor earlier in the week, I decided to call Elevate. Dr. John and Dr. Jessi were extremely friendly and made accommodations to get me into the office within an hour of my call. I spoke with Dr. John one-on-one, uninterrupted for 30-45 minutes as he took the time to really inspect my back and explain to me his thought process on my injury and recommendations for treatment. He was very engaging and was sure to listen and answer any questions that I had regarding my injury and what I could do to expedite my recovery. He didn't just give me an x-ray, adjust my back, and tell me to come back 3x per week for the next 3 months as many chiropractors would do. He spent the time required to understand and treat my pain, and as a result, I feel so much better from a physical standpoint. I firmly believe that Dr. John knows what is wrong with my back and plans on treating me in the most optimal way for MY health, not for his financial benefit. Dr. John and Dr. Jessi are not the chiropractors who put you on an extended 6-month treatment plan so they can collect your payments. Their dedication to their patients' short-term, and more specifically long-term, health and comfort is unrivaled. I plan on referring Dr. John and Dr. Jessi to anyone who I know who suffers from acute or chronic lower back pain.
