each ordered a bowl of soup and a tea. the "bowl" was a cup and was $7.19! came with 2 small tortilla chips and a few broken pieces. I asked about my order saying I didn't order a cup of soup I ordered a bowl! was told that was the bowl now, a little smaller! HA! We definitely will not be back!! read more

I am upset. This rating is for the food only. The food was so far below what I'm used to from this restaurant (which is normally a favorite). What we got: New Yorker on jalapeño bread 3/10 Tomato "bisque" 2/10 Black Angus spud 2/10 Broccoli soup 5.5/10 Sugar cookies 7/10 Banana butterscotch pie 6/10 Let's talk about why each item got it's rating. The NY was a half sandwich, which we weren't told. Flavors were mute & dull, very lacking. Tomato "bisque" should not be called that, it was offensively acidic/bitter. I honestly can't imagine how it went wrong in so many ways. The BAS upset me the most by far. It was an unseasoned, unloved, meat slab spud. No flavor, tough meat and no condiments to be found. I couldn't even tuck in because of the effort it took to cut into pieces. Broccoli soup was subpar, not seasoned and lacking but the best thing I ate in this meal. Why are the cookies sooooooo thin? But the taste was expected. Lastly the pie.... if it weren't for the absolutely soaked crust it would've been great. The filing was smooth and yummy but the crust was inedible. **Now normally I don't go so deep on a review but I was really caught off guard. read more

Decent sit down deli that has some good sandwich, baked potato, soup, and salad options. Price is on par with Panera but the lines here are shorter and the customer service is much friendlier. You can get good lunch deals by picking two from the salad, sandwich, soups, or potato options. They bake their cookies daily. We tried their baked potato with cheese (can't really mess up a baked potato) an herb chicken sandwich on croissant (wish the chicken was a single piece vs tiny chunks of chicken that fell out of the sandwich), and chowder soup (decent and hearty). Food was good and made to order but nothing spectacular. They do have plenty of seating and can accommodate large groups. The staff also cleans up the table afterwards which is really nice. read more

Services was fast which was good! Customer service wasn't as impressive. When I walked into this almost empty restaurant, I gasped and said " oh, the carrot cake looks so good!" But the lady taking my order didn't comment or smile so i figured she didn't hear me. I gave her my order for THE NEW YORKER. she asked questions regarding the order which is good but she didn't smile at all. Then I said to my son who was with me, "should I get the carrot cake? It looks so delicious". I was hoping the lady would have said something or at least try to sell me on the idea but she didn't. So I didn't order it. Maybe she knew something that I didn't. Idk. The restaurant was clean and in order. Quiet. Not busy at this time of day (3pm). Would I go here again? I don't know. If my husband enjoys his sandwich, then yes read more

Service not amazing staff is self absorbed not much cleanliness around the restaurant or restroom need better management.

The food is the reason it didn't get two stars! Ordered online. Confirmation said it would be ready at ten til...got there at ten til and they had not even started it. Don't offer online ordering if you aren't prepared for online ordering! Especially don't send a pick up time if you aren't even checking tickets! Food is great here, but we did not have the time for this. My last trip until new management! What a shame...! read more

The worst customer service I've experienced in quite some time. While placing my order, the woman at the register voiced her complaints (unsolicited) at people that put in web orders. Then I was rushed to finish my food by closing time - twice. In the middle of eating, I was asked to give up the hard plates I was eating from, and was only left to eat out of the paper cups my sides were in. About 3 minutes later, we were told that we couldn't be in the restaurant even 1 minute past closing time. I had been served my food about 20 minutes before closing, so I was close to finishing my meal anyway. So I hurriedly wrapped up, and we left. This was a stop on a road trip for work, and I still had to book my hotel for the night, so I sat in my car and did that after leaving. I noticed that the staff didn't leave until about 15 minutes after close anyway - which would have been plenty of time for me to finish without being rushed. A friend that lives in Champaign who met me there was shocked, and said she won't be going back herself. After scanning these reviews, I noticed I'm not the only one who had a poor experience. I've stopped here for take out several times while coming through town on my way to Chicago and had had decent food, but I'll be avoiding it in the future. read more

Awful customer service. We went in this evening and placed a $40 order and they messed it up by giving us the completely wrong sandwich and we ended up having to drive back. Ordered lemonade and they didn't tell us they were out until after we had already paid. Ordered chips they didn't give us the chips so we went back in and they told us they didn't have the specific kind we ordered which is fine but tell us instead of not giving us any! Please get it together. read more

VERY similar to Paneras except VERY LONG WAIT TIMES regardless of number of people ahead of you.

I gave this place a 5 star review 3 years ago. Been back dozens of times since without any problems. Today must of been a bad day. We all have them. As soon as the wife & I sat down, we noticed no napkins in the dispenser on our table. No napkins any at the tables near us. Stood up to get napkins from the counter only to notice many empty napkin dispensers sitting to the right of the registers. Had to ask for napkins is a bad sign. Getting only 5 cheap store bought napkins another bad sign. Almost like someone forgot to order napkins, for a restaurant, no less. Another bad sign was that my wife got the wrong sandwich and side even though they match the table sign with the number on the order. Her sandwich that was weirdly cut with 2 big pieces and 2 really small pieces. See pics of sandwich and empty napkin dispensers. Today must have been a bad day but my wife & I will be back. read more

I ate here out of connivence which I don't plan on doing again. The sandwich was very average.

Remembering the days when I would get McAlister's over in Texas when I used to live there. I got the sweet tea and the McAlister's club. It came with baked chips and a pickle. Yum! The pickle was fresh and this club was so yummy. The ingredients tasted really fresh and I love the honey mustard. Its sweetness complemented the sandwich very well. The staff were also so friendly! read more

McAlister's Deli - Turkey Club. So yummy! - Delis Near Me - Champaign, Illinois

After driving since midnight, I stopped here at 11a for lunch. I ordered tomato bisque and half a spud to go. I asked for no sour cream with the spud. Not only did they not give me any butter for my potato, they also didn't give me a freaking spoon for my soup. I didn't check my bag before leaving the restaurant, as I normally only have to do that at McDonald's. So, because I don't keep spare spoons in my car, I had to pour my bisque on top of my potato in order to eat it. I also stopped in the restroom on my way out, and there was zero toilet paper in the stall I used. The restaurant opened 30 minutes before I arrived, so I'm guessing someone just didn't feel like checking the restrooms before the restaurant opened. I could understand if it was after the lunch rush or in the evening, but this was 30 minutes after opening. Thanks for killing my uber excitement to eat here. read more

We stopped into this restaurant while on a road trip with our 5 family members. There was an unfortunate incident with an employee with a lot of yelling as well as the employee throwing things, swearing, etc . The cops were called by the manager while we were ordering our food. It was pretty chaotic. The sweet, professional young girl taking our order did everything to keep the line going and read back our order to make sure nothing was missed in the chaos. She was so very good at her job. She deserves some sort of reward for her ability to handle the situation. read more

It makes me sad Bc you can tell they are behind in staff and need more. I love Mcalister's but the staff looks like they hate people (I get it I work food service), but still... I tip them to Everytime because I get it, but damn they need to not be so emotionally distant. The managers are fine from when I've been in, but some of the girls there got some attitude. I get it though, but I hope it doesn't rub other ppl the wrong way. But I do love y'all's food. Shit smacks. I hope I see improvement. It's one of my fav places. read more

Great food. Friendly and efficient service. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that the food preparers were wearing their masks below their noses. We chose this place because it was in walking distance of our motel, and we are glad we did. Because of the pandemic, there is only takeout service, no eat in dining. read more

The meat on my french dip.was almost jerky where it had been under the broiler. I'm not sure what kind of meat is being used but slice it a tad thicker. The flavor was good overall but I found it hard to get through. My husband had a turkey pepper Jack sandwich that he said was food but had way too much honey mustard. They really need more help or all employees need to be trained on expediting food because there was a ton of food waiting and nobody seemed to know what to do with any of it. Three sets of people walked out during this debacle while two people stood there looking at each other but not sending anything out. read more

The food is worth four stars, the price is worth two, the service is worth two and the cleanliness is worth three or four. I ordered a chicken Cesar salad. When it came, the dressing was on the side. The menu specifically says that all dressings come on the side EXCEPT the Cesar salad. Anyone who enjoys this kind of salad knows the dressing is tossed into it. I asked the waitress why it was on the side and she said they all come on the side. I told her not on the Cesar salad. She asked the manager and the manager backed her. I told them then they need to change it on their menu. I just don't understand how they can't know their own menu. That alone wouldn't be that bad, but I've been here a handful of times and something always seems to be wrong with my order. read more

I cannot say how disappointed I am in this restaurant. They are always understaffed and their employees are condescending and rude. They clearly see you as an imposition and treat you in this way. I will not go back read more

Thought I would give them another shot after a few bad experiences years ago. I can't figure out why they are still in business! The prices are too damn high considering the quality and size of the food items with the exception of the 1 gallon cups they use. Tried a choose 2 with a bacon & cheese potato and a French Dip. I asked if the potato would melted shredded cheese or liquid cheese and she said liquid. It was definitely a very skimpy portion of melted and re-hardened shredded cheese. I included a photo of it for your opinion. Should've taken a photo of the tiny sandwich too. It was about 4 inches and had a small pile of beef in the very center of the bread. I paid $7 for this sad little meal. Wendy's bacon & Cheese potato is the same size or larger with actual melted liquid cheese and twice as much bacon for $1.99. Throw in a Jr. cheeseburger and you would get a much better meal at half the price. Writing this place off for good now! read more

The equivalent of a Panera Bread, Au Pain or Atlanta Bread Company. Nothing particularly great or awful. They herd you in and out. The food is filling in a high-carb kind of way but not fulfilling in a savory way. It's basically a fast-food deli. It is NOT an authentic deli IMHO by any stretch of the imagination. read more

Never eaten the food but their tea game...on point! People are always really nice and helpful. Still think it's a 'hood version of Panera(which I don't care for, too bougie). One day I'll try the food! I am a member of the tea gang! Got me a cup to prove it!lol read more

We stopped for lunch today and there was a new guy at the register. I repeated the food order for both of us twice. We ordered our food and drinks and sat down. My wife's food came out and I told her to go ahead and eat. She ate her sandwich and I still didn't have my food. I went up to the counter to see what the hold up was and they asked me again what I ordered. The newbie that took my order came to the table a few minutes later and told me that he didn't input or charge me for my sandwich and potato. Mind you, the bill was $20 for two drinks and one half sandwich and salad. Then one of the other servers came to the table with my food and said "well, if you didn't pay for it, you can't have it" very rudely. So we walked out. We didn't even mention to them that there was a human hair on my wife's plate. What a crappy experience. They weren't even willing to comp us anything for waiting so long. Negative five stars if I could for this franchise. read more

This place gets 3.5 stars from me. So I went to McAlister's Deli pretty excited because the word deli was involved... well... I would hardly call it a deli. Deli's are so much more than just a place that has sandwiches! I ended up ordering the baked potato with veggie chili and some pepperjack cheese with jalapenos on top. It must have been two baked potatoes opened up because this thing took up the whole to go box that it was in. I must say, it was pretty good... nothing I couldn't make at home but hey.. we all get lazy sometimes. At first I was thinking...wow... that's a lot for a baked potato... but this thing was so huge that it was totally worth it. I would suggest this place... but if you're expecting some amazing pastrami sandwich with the most delicious pickles ever... you will be disappointed. read more

I read the previous reviews, but love good sweet tea, so went here anyway. Glad we did! Our food and service was really good. We had the nachos and the club sandwich, both were nice hearty servings and tasted good. Since many of the negative reviews were more about the bathroom than their food, I thought I would check that out as well. The faucet is in bad shape, but they did have toilet paper in both stalls.... Yes I did look since it was mentioned in several reviews. They are hiring for all shifts, so I wonder if they cleaned house and now have better employees?? Sweet Tea Rules!! :) read more

I have eaten at this location twice and so far, so good. Both times I've gotten a Roast Beef Melt, which I highly recommend! In all honesty, I normally eat at Subway, but when I really want a good hearty sandwich, I'll eat here. For my sandwich, drink (Which is HUGE), and chips, the total came to about $10.50. So it's about $3-4 more than the fast food chain, but to me, it's worth it. The staff has been friendly and informative and very accommodating to what I asked for. I usually take out, but the eating area inside has always been clean and there are tables that have loads of extra condiments and utensils. I wish I could eat here a lot more, but at 10 a pop, it's more of a rare treat than anything. read more
