Having elderly parents or being in charge of your grandparents is a hard task but even more so,…read morewhen they have Alzheimer's or Dementia. Let's not even talk about the resources and the system the Island of Puerto Rico has. With this being said, I want everyone who comes across my review to keep an open mind before making the choice of putting their loved ones in a nursing home, any nursing home I want to point out. First and foremost, it's hard to care for them while you need to work and have minors, because they need to be under constant supervision 24/7. This is something you cannot do while living in Puerto Rico in order to work 8-10hrs, pay bills and raising your children without suffering for the lack of electricity and water supply. (This is something that needs to be considered, before judging specially when there is no help.) The system in Puerto Rico does not work. The only way it works in somewhat cases is if you know people in the right places, if someone owes you a favor, if you can get the attention of people on social platforms and even on the news. Let's not forget about your political views, who you rally/campaign for... (This is the truth.) When I mean the system I mean: "Departamento de la familia, Oficina del Procurador de Personas de Edad Avanzada (OPPEA), Administración Auxiliar de Protección Social "Emergencia sociales" etc... Between calling, emailing, everything bounces over to the next person, and transfers to the next extension. Let's not even talk about lines being busy, phones off the hook or not attending you in person because they are understaffed. My grandfather ended up in hands of the government of Puerto Rico because I couldn't take care of him nor move him out of the country because I work 5 days a week, have two minors and an elderly (his wife) who also need my care, attention and assistance. With my grandfathers diagnoses, it was very hard to have him under my care and before he even reached that point I tried all I could with the different agency and I mentioned previously and NO HELP WAS GIVEN WHATSOEVER. I saved every name, email, call etc... (No one ever cared or held any department or agency accountable.) His first nursing home was: "The Angel's Residence" located in Bayamon, (Administrator at the time was: Daniel Rodriguez) where he was physically abused, you could literally see the marks on his body. He was even tied down because you were able to see the marks on his arms and legs. He went in that home walking and came out in a bed where we thought he was going die. No nursing home, nurse etc... has the right to restrain an elderly. It was their job to get him evaluated, medicated properly. They were not trained properly to deal with elderly who have Alzheimer's/Dementia. Sadly no one investigated them. In Puerto Rico, it is known for elderly to be put in homes from the department for a type of money incentive it's all a scam and business. He ended up in the hospital, Doctor's Center Hospital, located in Bayamon in which also the social worker working at that time had no knowledge either of what she was doing and how to help an elderly who came in and clearly had signs of being abused. It's like they are afraid of opening the "pandora box" because of all the paper work and the outcome. They prefer to just give an immediate service. After he was stabilized but home bound, he was moved and recommended to this specific nursing home from the social worker in the hospital to the Departamento de la familia social worker. Bottom line is... I do not recommend nursing homes in the Island of Puerto Rico. Especially, The Angel's Residence located in Bayamon, PR and Hogar Dulce Sueños located in Villa Josco Toa Alta, PR 00953.

Puerto Rico has the worst medical care in all of the United States and this place in particular has…read morethe worst nursing care the worst Doctor care and by far the absolute bitchest nurses I have ever seen in my life. If you have a medical emergency in Puerto Rico and need a hospital I highly suggest San Juan for the major hospital there but I would not go to anything in fahardo or anywhere near fajarcolorado because all their emergency rooms are or a giant parking lot for people and gurneys. The nurses don't do s*** they sit around and just talk to each other about Nothing and refuse to help and will tell you consistently time and time again that your medication is coming in a few minutes and an hour and a half 22 and a half hours can go by before you get anything and it typically is in anything that you need or want.

NOT GOOD.. My mom has been in a nursing home here in Puerto Rico in Fajardo for the past 16 years…read morewith out any sickness or problems. Mom I 90 years old. On Thursday January 2,2025 the director from the nursing home noticed my mom was acting strangely and was in need to be taken to the emergency room. so she call an ambulance, and the area hospital that mom was taken to was Caribbean Medical Center ER. The director then notified me. I live in South Carolina and my travel to PR is an ordeal. two planes flight later I arrived to my mom's side. on Saturday January 4, 2025 straight to Caribbean ER to find my mom there in the worst condition a human being let alone and elderly person should have gone through. The look, setting of the ER was from a third world countr. I was beside myself. it was absolutely a nightmare to experience something like that. I had to ask "We are in Puerto Rico, yes" Puerto Rico part the unit stat yes. How can a hospital be run so terribly. l paid for around the clock care, I pulled ladies from my mom's nursing home to care, and accompanied mom til I arrive. The care there for my mom was so poor. staff there didn't want deal with the nursing home staff, they need an family member present. so they kept my mom three day in the ER and NO private room were available. once I arrived I had to fight for them to bring her up to a private room. I had to get boisterous for them to mover mom. in 10 minutes a private room was available. once upstairs it was much bette. But unfortunately the care of the nurses to patient, it was every disregard. if you find yourselves or a family member in this hospital make sure you have a friend or family that would stay with you the whole time watching out for you. This nurses are under paid and they don't want to be there. the doctor make their rounds and don't introduce themselves They just keep moving. it's so frustrating when you know this is not normal. I don't know how this place has been allow to run this way for so long. The only angel of God came was Dr. Santiago he is one of the general Doctor and on the fifth day he came it check in on mom. I never met him. He checked mom and said " she is doing fin, her test results are negative she can go home". so for no rhyme or reason they ke her so long. But hallelujah she was released that afternoon. Back to the nursing home were the care for my mom is excellent. unfortunately something happened that effect mom that she stop eating that night and the next morning. so of course we were worried and I prayed to God that we could NOT take her back to this terrible horrible. gave it another day and we were relief that she started eating again and back to her happy self again. what a nightmare I have been through all because of a poorly run hospital. it should be shut down. I was born here. But i don't live here. But if I did reside here with a lot of time on my hands. Oh I would've the Puerto Rico News all over this place. Please don't let it happen to you. we have rights. Ty for reading this. Marisela Sierra my mom Maria Herrera Moises
