Custom Concepts Performance Coatings - The lower cabinets are the best indicator of the work done, though the uppers had the powder coating inside as well.

Did I post this on another review page and now I'm posting the same thing here? Absolutely, but…read morehere's why: 1. It's not plagiarism because I wrote it myself :) 2. Every word of it is absolutely true 3. I'm really that happy with the work. Seriously, take a look at pictures 4. If I can help another small business succeed and perhaps help someone else find a solution to their niche project (refinishing metal cabinets), then I can save them some time and effort. Okay. Thanks for bearing with my preamble. We could not be happier with our experience refinishing our steel cabinets with Curt. Our kitchen has original St. Charles Kitchen cabinets. These are highly sought after, and we knew we wanted to keep them in the new version of our kitchen, but in a different color. A friend suggested powder coating and I got to work doing my research. Curt is the main choice in Detroit for having items powder coated. His website showed work he'd done big and small for cars and motorcycles... And one set of steel cabinets. I knew he was the guy for the job. He's down to earth and honest. It was always nice to chitchat a bit as we came and went from the shop. His stories of his escape artist dog never failed to get a laugh. The work itself was impeccable. Curt was upfront with us about the possibility of flaws in the paint depending on the surface he was working with, minor imperfections, you know. But nearly every piece came out looking as if it had always been the grey we had picked. We were blown away. We highly recommend Custom Concepts.

I dropped them off and got them back a week later! My under hood temps on my 63 corvette have never been better.

So I had my banister sand blasted after I attempted to remove 5 layers of paint. It was supposed to…read moreonly take 10 business days but they had it for 2 months. They claim they couldn't email me or call me because they lost my number some how ( which was in the email). When I finally got it back I saw they broke my wood rail in the process. They offered to take a substantial amount of money off the price and to drop off the piece they broke because they forgot it. A week later and I still don't have the damn piece. These folks have the nerve to say they are too busy to drop the piece off and want ME to come get it. Don't ever use these guys Michigan Sandblasting, Inc.

My experience started out positive. They cleaned up a second piece without charge after I had…read moreasked what the cost would be and what it would look like. The piece that was actually getting sandblasted and powder coated was another story. Quoted $80 for the piece + $20 rush charge. I don't know how much this stuff usually costs, but it seemed ok. (Now that I read the review from Kevin G, and see what he got done for $120, I'd say my small piece was over priced.) They called the next day to say it was done, when the rush meant it wouldn't be done for another 2 days. (Was the extra $20 rush charge actually necessary if it could be done so soon?) I went to pick up the item later that day and it was beyond TERRIBLE. Like a child had done it, but worse. I can't really explain other than to say it looked like it was dipped in very thick powder coating then laid on its side to dry. There were thick drips and clumps all over. Some of it was already chipping and flaking off. (I didn't think powder coating should be able to do that.) I know, I should have taken pictures. I told them it was awful and needed to be redone, thanked them for wasting my time, and I left. In less than 1 hour, I get another call from them saying it was completed and ready for pick up. Ok, let me ask again, if the total job took less than 1 hour, was the extra $20 rush charge actually necessary? On the voicemail left, they still quoted the same price of $100. Seriously, you think I'm going to pay the $100 after the crappy job, wasting my time and gas, and an unnecessary $20 rush charge? Anyway, when I went to pick it up the second time, it was much better, still not as good as I would have expected, but much better. I don't know who took my payment, as no one through this whole ordeal bothered to give their name, but I told him what I was willing to pay for the piece due to the issues mentioned above. He agreed and took my payment.

Discovered a leak on my car and was frustrated. The leak seemed to be coming from the connection…read morebetween the hose and radiator. I wasn't sure if it was the actual hose or radiator because I didn't have the tools to pressure check etc. I called local shops and immediately most said my radiator was bad, average cost $450-$600 from most shops. Brand new OEM radiator cost $200 so I said I'll do myself if need be. I took the radiator off and decided to have it tested. I took it to a local shop who "specializes" in radiators and they told me I needed a new one. I wanted a 2nd opinion so took it to Rays. He told me leave it and it will take them a couple hours to get to and test it etc. Got a call about an hour later and was told radiator is in great condition, works fine! Picked up the radiator paid about $30+ and bought a new hose (the problem) and car is fine no leaks! So instead of buying parts I didn't need even when I was told that was the issue I'm glad Rays did the proper testing and didn't lie to me to try to gain business! Overall I recommend them, owner is definitely honest, willing to do the proper testings instead of just guessing or claiming what you need! With so many businesses out there just trying to get you in the door and take your money, it's great to meet an honest business! Thank You Rays!

I dropped some parts that needed straightening and a hole welded and was told it would be about a week. Well a MONTH later I came to pick up my parts and NOTHING had been done even after numerous phone calls I even talked to him the week before and he said they could be picked up the next day. When I did come to pick up my parts he had his guy scramble and try to do the job I waited a month for, while I stood in his lobby for an hour and a half. BUSH LEAGUE!!! On top of that he quoted me $30 to powdercoat some rimes and when I picked them up charged me $60. BOTTOM LINE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
