Downtown Crossing is a T Stop on the Orange line. A very convenient stop for many downtown locations like Boston Common, Public Garden, a short walk to Chinatown. It is old and not the cleanest station. But it is convenient, easy to find your way and subways arrive fast (comparing to LA), so it's efficient. read more

On my last trip out to Boston to be a spectator at the Boston Marathon, this was one of the MBTA stations that I took. It allowed access to both the orange line and the red line. I took the red line headed out to Braintree to get back to my hotel in Quincy. read more

MBTA - Downtown Crossing Station - Train Stations Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

This subway terminal is in an ideal location if you find yourself at Quincy market, the government center or in the heart of the freedom Trail path downtown. It is very well organized, very affordable and clean. It only cost us $2.50 per adult to get from downtown to the airport (blue line). You can take the subway for a 15 minute ride and then hop on a free bus transfer to the airport. All in all, the process takes about 30 minutes. It was seamless for our family! Couldn't recommend more. read more

An MBTA station is at Downtown Crossing. It may not always be clean but the location is close to many things to do around here. Once it was much worse. Crowded because this is a main point for riders. There's lots of trains coming through and it's a popular place for making a transfer. It certainly is one of the busier stations and gets busy and crowded. It serves the Orange and Red Lines. The location is the best thing. Close to Boston Common. There's lots of great restaurants and shops. It's between the Chinatown and Park Street stations, two popular destinations. The other good thing about it is that it's underground. Protection from the cold and heat. That makes up for the somewhat bad smells. Busy station with lots of commuters. It often has artists and musicians. They add some fun while waiting for trains. read more

MBTA - Downtown Crossing Station - Station - Train Stations Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Just commenting on the Red Line only... For all the years I have been a rider there have been numerous incidents and delays and I could go on and on. Everyone has experienced this line and all the others in the City of Boston is the oldest subway in the county that needs to address its issues and even though they seem to be, it's still not enough to keep our riders safe and in time. I just have to say I was on the new Red Line Cars today and I was impressed how clean and its signage easily displayed and the announcements were clear! I think they need to do a lot of house cleaning of its MBTA EMPLOYEES and have lots of staff visually around the station and platforms I did not see anyone near the Charlie Card Kiosk for those who need assistance or anyone on the platform even though the were cameras. Still I am ver hard pressed to give the new Management a good report card, especially when the latest high management Resigned. I can only comment on my trips on the Red Line, being alone at times on platforms for awhile and entering the cars itself. SAFETY FIRST SHOULD BE MBTA's NEW PROGRAM AND BE MINDFUL OF ALL THOSE RIDERS THAT DEPEND ON YOU ON A DAILY BASIS. read more

I have been using the T through out college 10+ years ago and exclusively during the past 3 years working in downtown crossing. I've seen this train station hasn't changed much: busy, crowded, diverse with a huge population of homeless and drug addicts. I know it is a public issue for homeless and drug addicts. However, when human waste stinks the air that thousands of people inhale on a daily basic, it is a public health issue that needs to be addressed!! Not only have I seen homeless and drug addicts walking around, I have seen many areas within the train station with human waste - EVERYDAY!! This is a shame when Boston is a center of tourism! Maybe a portion of the budget should be going back to cleaning the station if homelessness is a national issue! read more

Let me start by saying I love the T, take it nearly every day, and think public transit is so important. This station, however, is one of my least favorite. The two stars are for it being inside (and thus protected from the elements), being wheelchair accessible, and it being a transfer station, having both the red and the orange lines available. It's also a convenient location, right in downtown. However, it's set up terribly, in that you can't get from one side of the tracks to the other without reentering and paying again, so make sure you know which direction you're going before you go into an entrance from the street. More than once I've had to pay twice because this isn't made clear when you enter. Also, it's not super clean. read more

Another stinky station. I saw some liquid which smelled urine near the entrance. Convenient location, dirty station. I find these almost all T stations. read more

Compared to other stations, Downtown Crossing could use a few bulldozers and or even a power wash. Cracked concrete, uneven steps, narrow platform. But the trains come through here and they do stop. That's why it's "I've experienced better" rather than "Methinks not." There is plenty of room for improvement here. Get to it, MBTA. read more

I hate driving around in downtown Boston so I am at this station quite a bit. I like that it's so close to all of the stores I go to especially Macy's which is pretty much right there. There is a store in this station that sells MBTA subway cards so you can get them there if you need them. There are also machines in the station that will allow you to load money onto your card if you are like me and don't buy a monthly card and prefer to use the prepaid subway cards that last for years as long as you still have money on it. But there have been several times that the machines weren't working properly and I ended up having to walk the short distance to Park Street Station to load money onto the card. It is a pretty safe station during the day but I notice later at night I tend to see a lot more shady people in there. It is kept fairly clean for a station that has thousands of people going through it everyday. read more

I use this station a few times a week to get to my job so I have a lot of experience here. First of all the station design is ok it's pretty accessible and kind of simple, I guess. Since I don't get of or on at downtown crossing I only switch lines , I cant tell you about the outside seen . Every time I have entered here I usually see a couple of homeless people on the stairs or outside of the station , which is very unpleasant. Throughout my 6 year of using this station I've never experienced anything bad except for a few people yelling at each other. So overall the station is ok. read more

Yelpers- Red line. Outbound platform. I'm there most days. I'd say that makes me qualified to write this Yelp review. I'm here a lot. For longer than I like usually. No matter. It's out of my control. We Schrutes are farmers. Patience runs through our veins. That along with Mother's homemade measles vaccine. Maybe I would complain about this place, if not for the phenomenal snack bar downstairs. I don't mind that the owner doesn't charge me tax. I won't alert the authorities... for now. I remember i had a monthly pass + additional funds on my Charlie Card. When passing thru the pay gates, everybody was rushing....the lady in front of me was trying to pass but had issue with her card, she ended up going thru because I already swiped my card (using monthly pass) since i was right behind her. I made it thru before the gate close. Then some lovely #/@! from MBTA flagged me down and told me to go thru the gates again. Thankfully i have the extra side funds on my Charliecard aside from the monthly pass. Otherwise i have to wait how many minutes til the monthly pass to reactivate. I ended up losing the $ for the single trip because someone else got a free ride off of me and this MBTA person gets to feel good about herself for a job horribly done. MBTA need to stop hiring incompetent, corrupt imbeciles if they want to provide better service to people. Also another time some MBTA worker coughed in my face without covering their mouth, i ended being sick and working sick for couple weeks. That was fun. read more

Smells like diarrhea and is delayed all the time. But it does go where you want to go and is not to shabby for a train station. But it's a train station. They're all the same. Stop looking at reviews and just get on it, it's a train. read more

This is the nexus of the red, orange & somewhat the green line on the MBTA's vast transit system. There is a network of underground tunnels that keep commuters away from the elements & there are few shops that line the walls. Plus there is access to some of the larger businesses in the Downtown Crossing area. Since the area has been going through a vast renovation the station has suffered. The passage to Oak Grove has a large piece of equipment blocking a majority of the path. There tends to be puddle left every where when the weather does get bad. The station is showing its age & the platforms tend to be narrow especially during rush hour. One of the saving graces here tends to be the talented musicians that fill the air with music. There should be more desginated areas where they can play & showcase their talents. It makes a cramp area down right dangerous. We all know the MBTA is strapped for cash but its well used vital stations like this that need a modern renovation to keep it moving forward. read more

I know Downtown Crossing is in the heart of the city, but man is it dirty....It smells bad, water is always leaking from somewhere, and the orange line is constantly 8-10 min away. At night there are a lot of drunk people, and you don't see security doing anything about it. It's in the center of the city, but I hope one day it's cleaner here. read more

430 on a Friday afternoon and there are cars on the train that aren't opened to passengers?! Are the people that run the mbta aware of the mass of people that commute into Boston? This joke of an administration is demanding more money?! How about providing dependable service to the people that pay for said dependable service. You DON'T provide it. I'll be willing to bet that the transit service in Boston rates up there with the worst in the nation. What a joke. And this self empowered bitch they have at South station! The bus drivers that just drive however they want on city streets! All Trash! read more

I am on the last train trying to head home and we are stopped at this station well past the expected leave time. No announcements have been made. This train is a schedule for a reason and people rely upon it. The administration should be courteous to other people's time. read more
