We have signed over the weekend and here it is Monday and we are very impressed. The platform is on point, intuitive, UX and UI and clean and robust. I have talked to 3 different reps. I was assigned 3 reps and even talked to my accountant, So far I cannot even imagine having the issues many of the reviews mentioned here. This is however 2022 so maybe they have had a restructure of offerings and a new perspective of providing excellent services. This company was supposed to keep track of my expenses and file my taxes, but did not file any taxes for my business even though I sent all the information requested. At this point, I don't even want them to do it anymore. I just want all my information and books sent my way so I can have a real tax professional get it done. Also, I have tried to call multiple times and the people working there just hang up on you or do not answer at all. Horrible customer service after paying for your subscription for a year. Consultations also take months in advance to plan, so it is incredibly inconvenient. And God forbid you don't answer the phone, then it will be your fault for not making the meeting. read more

Horrible experience. Started at $90 a month in October 2020 then changed to $180 a month because I have a loan account they have to "track". What's to track on a loan account? I'm not making purchases, just paying off a balance. I questioned them about it and got no responses. Regardless, I stayed with them to make sure my taxes for my first year in business got filed correctly but they didn't file them! Mazuma filed for an extension until October 15th! I couldn't keep paying $180 a month when they provided me with nothing but frustration, so I asked Mazuma to: 1) finish my 2020 taxes 2) refund me all charges for 2021, since no services were provided, which was $1,170! 3) cancel my account All they did was refund my $180 payment for August 2021 and cancel my account. I emailed back..."Did my 2020 taxes get filed? Can I talk to an actual person?" NO RESPONSE AGAIN. I expected to learn about my business and any tax advantages that might be available to me but seriously nothing but frustration. I lost a year of learning and over $1000 and got nothing in return. Terrible. Total waste of my money. I paid 5 months ($95/month) and they did nothing. Every time I asked for an ETA they told me I just had to wait. Before I signed up I was told I would get unlimited access to their tax experts, but they don't tell you their "experts" are useless. Whenever you ask them something specific they tell you to make an appointment with the accountant, which takes weeks/months! I feel stupid for having stayed with them so long. They failed on their promises when they signed me up. They were not willing to handle basic things like tax returns, tried sneaking charges and getting an accountant to schedule something with you seems impossible. This was all during the first 30 days of me signing up to business premium. Their set up process was horrible and after realizing their mistake, they didn't want to fix it. Terrible. They were fine the first year I used them but this second year has been absolutely terrible. My books are a mess and I have had to correct so many mistakes. If I wouldn't have spoken up, my taxes would have been filed incorrectly and it would have cost me a lot of money. Also, because of all of their errors, I'm having to file my business taxes late and therefore my personal taxes are going to be late. There were several occasions when I needed to access my financial records, but the system was down, which meant I had to delay my work. Furthermore, the accountant assigned to my account was consistently late with their bookings, which caused me unnecessary stress. I had to follow up multiple times to ensure that my taxes were being filed on time. In the end, my taxes were completed only three days before the deadline, which resulted in significant owed taxes to the IRS. All in all, my experience with Mazuma was extremely frustrating and disappointing. I would not recommend their services to anyone seeking reliable and trustworthy tax and accounting services. I have received a partial refund from them, after a call with Nikole, she even realized that the accountant did indeed mess up in the communication. RUN!!! Don't fall for these guys. Hiring a bookkeeping/tax agency is supposed to remove the daunting headache of accounting and tax filing that comes with running a business, but these guys will add more headaches to you. I used them for 2 years and in the entirety of those 2 years, I could never depend on their bookkeeping services. I still maintained my excel sheet. Their bookkeepers have zero experience or are just lazy. They don't take the time to review your transactions to ensure their software is properly categorizing them. They instead pass it down to you to do yourself. When it comes time to file taxes, you will be begging them to file your taxes on time. Since February, I have been following up with these guys day after day, week after week to file my taxes and to date (May) they still haven't filed it. I have even escalated to their CEO and copy him on all emails, yet they are still dragging their feet and taking weeks/months to respond to messages and still make no progress. Here is the worst of it all, their website/portal is always buggy. It will keep forcing you to reset your password every time, relink your bank every time, resubmit documents over and over, and buttons not working. This company needs an operation and customer service overhaul. Complete waste of money and time and will bring more headache to you that you are trying to run away from. I will recommend you use QuickBooks. If you are not familiar with it or dread starting it up and setting it up the right way, you can hire a freelancer from Upwork or Fiverr to do the initial setup and all. You can then easily maintain it yourself. The come tax season, find you a reputable agency to file your taxes using your bookkeeping on QuickBooks. Wish there could be zero star rating. Have been chasing this company for months about the status of our company's filing. We are repeatedly told that they have expedited the process with bookkeeping to no avail. Furthermore, we are repeatedly asked to verify the same transactions over and over again. Lastly, we are asked to provide our prior year's business tax returns repeatedly. We do so but Mazuma was also the firm which completed our business returns the prior year so they also have a copy of said document. To make matters worse, they allowed us to repeatedly reach out over the course of 2-3 months about the status of our returns and never told us that they had filed an extension weeks ago. Save yourself the aggravation and find another accounting firm if you're considering using this company for your business' accounting needs. read more

I had a 30 minute consultation where I just wanted to ask about some tax laws in preparation for the upcoming year, but the call did not even last more than 5 minutes. Amber was trying to sell me and have me sign up for the monthly service before I could ask my questions, and explicitly told me that I could get my questions answered after I signed up then proceeded to ask "...So with that, would you like to sign up for your free 30 day trial now and then billed regularly afterwards?" Her monotone demeanor and lack of interest is off-putting, I am not sure how they are helping other businesses. read more

Beware of these scammers. They prey on newly filed businesses that are not very knowledgeable about taxes and bookkeeping. Their business model is to take the credit card number and charge monthly fees of at least $95 and not work on the account for at least 8 months, so they can file tax extensions and hold the client hostage and continue to milk them. I had the misfortune of signing up for them via incfile.com thinking I would not have to do my bookkeeping and taxes anymore. I uploaded almost ALL documents within a couple of months of signing up for their service, and they still did not touch my stuff. The phone appointment with the tax professional was horrible, she was rude and condescending, she blatantly lied and tried to blame it on me for not uploading my LLC formation documents (which were uploaded last year, they did not bother working on my account), and also lied that I did not upload the additional tax documents (W2, 1099 etc) on time that is why they did a tax extension (which were uploaded within couple of weeks of being available, again, they intentionally delayed and not read it). I have been doing my own taxes for almost 10 years and I know for a fact I have a very straightforward and easy tax filing, yet these people did not do anything. I am still waiting for them to complete my tax file as I write this review on June 2, 2023. Beware!! do not fall victim to their false advertisement and bait-and-switch scummy practice. Document all the communications you have with them including the initial bait. Report them to BBB, the Attorney General of your state, FTC, inspector generals under the dept of Commerce agencies, and any other authorities. These people need a class action lawsuit. read more

I don't know how this business does anything. They have done less and less by the year and don't communicate with their clients. Private accountants pour their hearts and souls for their clients at a more reasonable rate whereas there doesn't seem to be any legwork done by the bookkeeper or tax pro's. I end up having to write in all the explanations for the books and there is ZERO strategizing when discussing how to optimize tax savings with the tax pro. Hire someone local and drop these people. All small business owners who have had their services should file a class action lawsuit for services not rendered. read more

However, the reason I decided to move on was because it was not as user friendly as Quickbooks and other accounting services I have used. I did not understand how to categorize my transactions which is super important. This could have been user error: when I asked for help on this: the answer wasn't too clear to me. I was offered a "free 30-minute tax consultation" as part of an LLC filing package. I thought that was a great opportunity, and set up the call. I was asked a few questions and then the "consultant" launched into a sales pitch for their accounting offers. I declined the offer, and basically got the response, "Thank you for letting me know, good bye." When I asked if the person was still on the line, they said yes, so I asked, was this a tax consultation? Or just an offer for your accounting? He confirmed the latter, and I got none of my tax questions answered. All of the emails and texts from them said "free 30-minute tax consultation"--and I didn't get that. They were great up to last year. Last year I got my taxes late (like July/aug) and as of aug 29, 2022 i still don't have my taxes done from 2021. I am currently in a situation where i need a copy of my taxes or a copy of the extension to get a home loan. I have all approvals in for the loan but this one doc from Mazuma. I have spent about ten hours calling, messaging over the period of a week and talking to customer reps who can't help me. No managers will talk to me. I was told multiple times someone with ability to help would call me and they never did. On Friday of last week (after days of reaching out for help), a rep told me they did not file an extension. I asked to talk to a manager to figure out what we can do instead and noone was available to help me. Litterally, no managers anywhere. I was told Jeff would be back on Monday to help. On Monday, he never called me even though a service rep called me to tell me Jeff would call me that day. No call from Jeff, so I called back at 4 and was told he would call me. I called at 5 only to find out he had left the office and no other manager was available. Now my home loan is in jeapordy and I can't get anyone to help me at Mazuma. On top of that, I still need my taxes done. This is costing me BIG time!!! In the mean time: This is what i have been told like 20 times: "Rest-assured John, we will be in contact with you as soon as we have an update regarding this request and escalation of the concern. It's just that, the department is close at the moment so we cannot do anything more." I'm beginning to think it is a catfish scam. Any version of quicken will do more than they do, they are days returning phone calls if they return them at all. They have had all my tax info from a new start up LLC with ZERO income, just basic start up expenses for 6 weeks and havnt touched them.....WHY am I paying them monthly??? So I went through a company to file an LLC and I got a free tax consultation through this company. I'm thinking cool, I can get advice for tax time. I get on the call and he tells me 2 things I already know and then pushes for me to get the free trial. I was weary because of the pushing, but I liked the idea of not having to worry about keeping my bo0ks. So I sign up for the free trial, and i'm supposed to get a confirmation email and NEVER received one. My husband does research on them and sees tons of negative reviews of them scamming people for money. I just called my bank to cancel my card. Don't waste your time on them. I used Mazuma USA for my small business accounting since its inception in late 2020. I am set-up as an LLC, taxable as an S-corp. The overriding issue is that communication is poor. They do not assign one person as the primary contact for the account. I suppose this could work, but in my case it did not. Throughout the year there were instances where they would ask for information multiple times even after I had uploaded it. In one case I had to upload several months' bank statements twice. Then the system kept asking for one particular month several more times. In email exchanges, it would require multiple efforts to get answers to routine questions. Most importantly, the person who executed my year end tax accounting failed to process it as an S-corp. I will take some blame for this since I did not alert them to this fact. But one would think they would check if in doubt. When I saw my return and brought it to the accountant's attention. After a number of email exchanges he eventually replied that he had contacted the IRS on the matter, and they had not received my form 2553. It turns out I had proof that the IRS had received my form 2553, and they had sent me a confirmation notice that my application had been accepted. In the end he agreed to rework the return, but it took several exchanges which I felt were fully lacking in professionalism on their part. I am not sure why the accountant made the decision to lie to me, but regardless, it is a breach of trust that I find difficult to come to terms with. I also asked a switchboard operator to have his supervisor contact me. That person never contacted me. Needless to say, I am terminating my relationship with Mazuma. For what its worth, I would recommend to anyone starting a business, get a local accountant that you can see face to face. I had a business years ago, and the accountant would stop by my place of business once a quarter to visit and pick up any materials I had for him (this was before everything was online). And, it turns out, it was no more expensive than this internet service, not to mention the late filing fee. read more

I was charged $180 a month. Since an llc tax return takes around $500 to do. I thought what can I lose trying this for a few months, I get book keeping and my tax return. There 5 different versions of my return, none were correct. First they put my income in twice. Then my deductions were wrong. My owed taxes were somewhere between 900-1530 depending on the day. I was told to check the tax return to make sure it was right. I don't understand this, and that is why I pay you! They set things up so no one will talk to you till after your next payment so you won't discontinue services. If I do, they won't fix their mistakes and I will have to pay another $500 for someone's else to do it. Pretty much waste on money, waste of time, and a scam. Quick books is more effective and correct in both book keeping and tax returns. Don't wait your money! read more
