Really a 3.5 but there wasn't a real reason to round down. Came here with some locals for a mid weekday lunch. The menu had a ton of options. They brought out the chips and salsa immediately after we were seated. The salsa came in a decorative jar for the table to pour into a little dish that we each got. The chips were fine, but not warm at all (if that's your thing). But, they made sure that when they got low to bring our table a fresh basket and more salsa. I had a chicken burrito with rice. It wasn't too bad...just not as good as I get down in Texas. This is our go to for a sit down Mexican restaurant in town. Chips and salsa are great. I get the house special soup every time. My wife gets the chili Verde, which is definitely our favorite dish on the menu. My daughter gets the cheese steak, which is carne asada and queso served with a flour tortilla on the side. I might update this review if I make it out here again. I went here today for lunch, I have tried the other mexican spot Guadalajara and while the servers were friendly there the food was just alright. I liked the interior of this place and would really like to try one of their margaritas so I might come back another day of the week when they are having their margarita special. The waiter was pretty friendly and he was speaking to me in spanish even though I am not spanish I can understand and speak enough to get by, and I do feel that he got a bit friendlier and more helpful because of that. Their menu is pretty extensive and the prices are very reasonable, I am pretty indecisive so I just asked the waiter what he likes. He liked steak and seafood alot and I figured I'd try their ribeye special. It was served on a sizzling platter and fried so my stomach is still reeling from it but it wasnt that bad and the beans and rice were OK. I'd try something different if I came back here, this place would be fun if you go with a large group of people as well. And the parking does kind of suck but there is enough off street parking if you dont mind walking just a bit. read more

When traveling around the world, I find it a personal mission to find decent Mexican food. I've struck out everywhere in Europe, and as for the U.S. it seems the farther you get from the border states, the less authentic the food is. For being so close to Canada, Aberdeen didn't seem to hold much promise until I found Mazatlan. Great food and margaritas like I know from Los Angeles. I have to agree with the other reviews. It's not bad there, only eaten there a few times and both were good food and even better margaritas. They have this sauce there that is scrumptious! This place is definitely better than wannabe Mexican restaurant Guadalajara's. The only thing to 1/2 way complain about is the parking, but...a short walk (as long as it's not blizzarding out) never did anyone any harm. read more

I've tried this place four times now. I keep going back because it gets great reviews here on Yelp, and with a lot of people I know. But it's just not good at all. I've tried several things and gone with groups who had a variety of things. It's all basically flavorless. The chips have even been stale the last two trips. I've given up on the place and don't recommend it. This restaurant has the worst service, it took about 30 minutes to order and another 30 minutes to get our food. There were people who came in after us and they managed to get their orders in and received their food before we even placed our orders. Once I got my shrimp burrito, I found a hair in my food. My friend next to me got two chicken tacos and her chicken was cold (cold like it came straight out of the refrigerator). Overall, the food quality is horrible. If you want Mexican food in Aberdeen, I would suggest going to Qdoba or Guadalajara. read more

Love, love, love! This place has got to be my favorite when it comes to Mexican restaurants. I have never heard a bad experience here and my food, always comes out perfect. Great lunch menu and outstanding dinners! The food has always been exceptional and the staff is very friendly. I am a fan of their combo plates, where they select 3-4 items that go very well together without having to order things separately (though there is an option for that as well). You also get a basket of freshly made tortilla chips and house salsa. The interior is playful with a fun mural that stretches around all of the walls in the dining area. I have never seen the dining area in disarray. The staff is quick to keep everything neat and tidy for a pleasant dining experience. The only problem I have with this restaurant is the menu. After reading the other reviews I thought I would put my Input in. I have only eaten here twice since I moved to Aberdeen, SD. The business was a little slow the times I was there. I really liked their food, but their service is terrible. 2/3 of the three times I have been there they have messed my order up. First, she gave me a beef burrito when I asked for chicken and the next time I ordered a taco that they totally forgot. She also completely messed up my friends order the second time as well. I'm a very forgiving person and they corrected their mistake, but what I can't forgive is them over charging me. I paid for myself and my boyfriend. A $29 bill. My boyfriend gave me $10 cash to pay for most of his. So I asked the waitress to take the 10 and pay for the rest on my card as I have done this before in many places. However, looking at my statement in my account they charged me $39!!! There is NO way my bill was that high even before I gave them the 10! I'm very displeased. read more

Worst service I have ever experienced. Upon arriving we were seated and after waiting 30 minutes for someone to come take our order I decided to ask a different server who walked by if we could order. He replied by telling me "we're too busy you'll have to wait", they didn't even care about their customers. At this point we were considering just leaving, as the people who came in after us had already ordered/gotten their food. So 15 more minutes go by and after countlessly trying to flag down our server they finally come over to get our order. 30 more minutes later we are brought our lukewarm food. One of the people I was with got food that looked like literal slop, the other got food that was cold, and the other had food that had hair in it. The food was disgusting, tastes very cold, salty, and lacks flavor. To be honest the service made the experience even worse. Will never be going back here and would recommend you save yourself the trouble and check out another Mexican place in town. read more
