If you're going to put "GF" on the menu, then mean it. Because here's the truth: cross-contamination is not a small mistake--it's the whole problem. For people with Celiac disease or real gluten sensitivity, eating something that touched gluten is basically the same as eating gluten itself. That "gluten-free" bun toasted on the same grill? Not safe. Those fries in a shared fryer? Not safe. That salad tossed with croutons and then "picked off"? Definitely not safe. And what's frustrating is how often this gets brushed off. You'll ask a simple question like, "Is this prepared separately?" and get a blank stare or a "yeah, I think so." Think so? This isn't a guessing game--it's someone's health. If a restaurant can't guarantee: * separate prep space * clean utensils * no shared fryers or surfaces then just be honest about it. Don't label something gluten-free if it isn't actually safe. New to the area and decided to try out Pounder's after a recommendation from a co-worker. What a great experience. We were in a little early on a Thursday evening, and our server was incredible. Aiyona (not sure if spelled that right) was friendly, courteous, and gave great food recommendations. We ordered a few appetizers, the pulled pork rolls and fried pickles, and while both were excellent, the mustard sauce served with the pulled pork rolls was amazing. I kept it to dip sweet potato fries in and that great as well. Burgers were great, my husband enjoyed the Hawaiian pulled pork sandwich. However, my daughter built her own mac-n-cheese and it was top-notch. Overall we had an excellent experience with the service putting it over the top for us. Service was pretty good compared to other places. Wife ordered the classic burger with fries. Burger was ordered med but both patties were well done and most of the fries were left on the plate as they were OVER salted. I had the philly steak with potato dippers. The sandwich itself was sloppy with to much cheese and the dippers had so much salt and seasoning on them most were UN-eatable. This wasn't our first stop at Pounders as we've eaten here several times in the past. The food seems have gotten worse with the OVER seasoning. The other thing we've noticed is there is not a restaurant here in Aberdeen that can make a TRUE Philly Steak and cheese. read more

On 12/17/24, we stopped for lunch. We were greeted by the female employee behind the bar. She sat us fairly quickly, and being new to the area, we did need several minutes to look over the extensive menu. We were recommended this place by a local, for their burgers. We both decided on burgers, and my husband asked about their chili as a side. I guess you could get a cup or a bowl, the server said "A cup or a bowl" and my husband had asked which came with it. The employee looked at him, and said very abruptly, "A cup or bowl" in an elevated voice. He just looked at me. I said a bowl please. She seemed very aggravated for some reason. Our food arrived , and I looked at my burger thinking something didn't look Right, and she came right back to Our table, and took my plate, saying there was a mix up. Returned with a different plate, and asked if she could get us anything else. Meanwhile, I asked my husband , is that a hair in your onion ring. He spun the plate around, and yes it was. When she came back by with food, he asked if she could come back to the table. She returned, and he showed her, and her exact words were "What, that piece of fuzz?" Our visit went from ok, very uncomfortable, and horrible. She said, " Do you want it remade?" And my husband said yes. I will say the burgers were good, but the whole interaction changed. She wouldn't look at my husband, she'd come and ask if everything was ok, after we said yes, she walked away , rolling her eyes. Went to several other tables, and had the most cheery voice, and sincerity in her voice. She was very short, bordering overwhelmingly rude. There were employees sitting at the bar eating , running back and forth greeting their own, eating, going back to The kitchen. Not sure of the cross contamination there. It's a cool little spot for hanging out with friends and grabbing a couple of beers. There is a great selection of craft brews and IPAs (something that seems a bit rare/lacking in the region). Last time we went for a night out on the town there were a bunch of hotties to mingle with, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. They gave us a few tips for other places to check out and swapped numbers with a couple of the waitresses. Good food and atmosphere! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

First time at this spot in good ol Aberdeen, SD, and I was pleased with everything. Our efficient server Faith made sure we were well taken care of and did a great overall. We sat out on the patio for lunch and it wasn't too hot or uncomfortable. I really liked the cross wood overhead of the patio, gives you a ratio of sun and shade like no other. It was my first time here and while it wasn't a busy time of day the hostess & server were both unfriendly. I asked a basic question about an item on the menu and her response was extremely condescending and rude. After that, she didn't check on us and had someone else deliver our food. It was only when the check came that she was friendly. The food was ok but nothing to write home about. At our table we ordered a few different flavors of wings, a burger, and onion rings. You need to be very specific with what you want on your burger. The customary lettuce & tomato is not included, so it's quite plain. We went here trying to get quick service but not fast food. We weren't disappointed. The bartender who took our order was so very nice (I didn't catch his name) but he was awesome!! I ordered the Mac and cheese burger with sweet potato fries and a cookie! The food was decent, but a lot, so I wasn't able to finish the whole thing! But despite the food being decent, the service was awesome! With an almost full restaurant we waited maybe 10 minutes before we had our food and paid. I was pleased to find something a little closer to what I've become accustomed to living on the east coast near cities like Boston and Providence. Came into pounders right at the beginning of the dinner rush place was pretty packed. I was immediately shown to the table and a waitress was right there bringing water and asked me if I'd like anything else to drink. Was feeling rather hungry so I did a chips and quesadilla appetizer and then a burger and fries for the entrée. The food was great but the service was even more outstanding. In fact it was so good I asked for the manager to tell her what an outstanding experience it was and what a great employee she had. Pounders is our number one go to for great food and service. The menu is filled with great things, it's always hard to choose. But my favorite item is the grilled mac and cheese sandwich with pulled pork in it. Soooo great! They have seasonal menus and cocktails that *always* hit the spot as well. The employees are always attentive; the atmosphere is laid back. It's a great spot to have a conversation or watch a game on their many tv's. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the food was pretty good. We're visiting from NC! My favorite was the Caribbean jerk wings. Very good flavor and not too spicy. Ordered the tortilla home baked chips and queso and was not impressed. Was more like a nacho cheese then queso, and the chips were really thick. I prefer thin salty chips, these reminded me of Fritos. My husband ordered the buffalo chicken flat tire pizza (love the unique names!) It was spicy, pretty good. I loved the crust, but it was sloppily put together and not enough cheese. His complaint was that The chicken was not coated in buffalo sauce, and fell right off the pizza due to the lack of cheese. We had friendly service, and loved the time out here, but just were not extremely impressed with the food. 3 and a half stars would be our vote. We will be here again! Server was terrible. Food just *ok which surprised us because we had heard good things and they are always busy. Server put someone else's food on our bill and had to wait a good 20 minutes to get her attention and get her to take it off and bring us the right bill. This is hands down our favorite place in Aberdeen & surrounding areas! From the first step we walked in and were sat immediately. Our waitress, kinsey, made us feel So welcome and entertained us even though she was in the middle of rush hour. I had the BBQ sandwich and the sauce was to die for and as a Texas girl I'm picky lol.
