I was a loyal Horace Mann Retirement account holder for 23 years. Being an educator ( now retired)…read moreI liked the educator focus. Since I started in 2002 my fived accounts earned 4.5%, a decent rate. I made my initial allotments of investments with the help of my representative and over the years, exercised more and more personal choice their in allotment. The initial problem as I see it is that they had a hard time retaining quality representatives. I had several over the 23 years, none for more than five years strait. When my best advisor left them in 2022, I had just started retirement. While living in Wisconsin, my rep was in New Jersey. Never heard from him personally for 3 years. My final advisor was a nice young man with an outgoing personality. However, he lacked the knowledge to give meaningful advice. When I asked him about RMDs and how I could strategically retain the most of my life savings, he suggested that I buy an Indexed Universal Life policy from...Horace Mann. I was floored that, given three weeks to come up with a plan, this was his best shot. I immediately started looking for a new company to handle my investments. Fast forward 3 months, I finally sat down with my new company to initiate the rollover. Horace Mann's procedure to transfer funds was convoluted, archaic ( paper forms) and ridiculously slow. So slow, in fact, that it took THREE MONTHS for my accounts to all finally make it to my new broker (in the form of paper checks). So much for customer service. Bottom line- if you want inconsistent and incompetent advice, coupled with glacially slow administrative procedure, Horace Mann is the way to go. I wish I had changed firms earlier despite the decent fixed rate. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

I've been with State Farm for so long that I can't even remember when I signed up. It's taken 4…read moremonths with Brady's office to make me rethink who I want to have my car insurance through. Here's how it started: I called because I was moving to Illinois and wanted to get a quote for car insurance. The woman on the phone asked for all of my info, what I wanted for coverage, etc. and said someone would call me back. The guy who called took nearly a half hour because instead of doing the work on the back end and getting a quote he decided he was going to ask me all of the exact same questions and just set the policy up at that point in time. Frustrating, but whatever. Then about a month later I get an email saying they're gonna cancel my policy because they haven't received something I was supposed to sign, that I was never told about. I didn't even receive the document so they sent another one to me indicating where to sign. I signed it and sent it off to them. Turns out they needed two signatures not the one they indicated. This time the guy at the office emails me and says that he's sending over a digital copy and I can scan and send it back. So I do. About a week later I get ANOTHER email saying that that actually wasn't good enough. And they're sending the documents to me in the mail, sign them, and send them back. Fine. I do it. Again. The guy at the office emails me and says we should be good to go. Cool. It's November at this point. I have auto pay so I think nothing of it. I logged in earlier this month (January) to find out that I had no access to my policy, and it was cancelled in November. So I had been driving around with no coverage for two months and didn't even know it. I called about it and the guy who had been "helping me" the entire time said he'd look into it. He should have followed up with it initially after all of the problems. He called me back and basically gave me a "it was in cancellation. Trust us you were still covered." Now I have to argue back and forth about payments because they want me to pay for the months where they weren't charging me, but I didn't have access to my policy? I bet if I got in an accident those months they'd fight tooth and nail to say I wasn't covered. Anyway. He finally gets back to me and says that the total will be $191.41. So why did I get a bill yesterday wanting, $459.27? I called another agent to switch to them. This office called me and tried to blame the underwriting department in the company. Hold yourselves accountable. I would never let this office have one of my policies again. It's being run by a bunch of clowns.

I have never felt more robbed or absolutely disrespected by a company. I have had insurance through…read moreallstate for over two years and never tried to file a claim. I have had full coverage on a 2004 ranger the whole time. I recently bought a 2016 chevy cruze and called in on a Saturday to insure it. I had to deal with there automated system. I was never asked if there was a lien on the vehicle or if I wanted full coverage. I just assumed beings it's a brand new car with 12000 miles common sense would tell an insurance agent I need full coverage. Maybe it's my fault for assuming but a week later the car got hit but a uninsured driver who ran a red light and I waited months for them to eventually deny my claim because collision coverage was never added to the vehicle. Which they already knew they kept telling me they would find the recordings of my original call and if she made a mistake they could fix it. That narrative quickly went out the window once the investigation started. Different people called randomly and asked a handful of very leading questions to get me to say the things they needed me to say to deny my claim. But even after I asked about it the original recording was never mentioned by them. To my knowledge they never even tried to look for it. I was considering having my lawyer sue but I'm sure it's futile at this point. So I now have a 10000 dollar car with 250 dollar a month payments for five years that's crashed. And doug mayfield and ladonia may say the right things and pretend to be on your side but at the end of the day it's a corporation and they either have no control of any actual claims or they are gonna do what ever there bosses say. Which I get to an extent but I personally find it disgusting and I don't know how you could sleep at night working for a company that's treats it's so called valued customers in this way. I am cancelling all policies and going to another company and I would urge existing customers to do the same and new customers save your money go somewhere. Ps. I also assumed a insurance agent meant he was my agent between me and his company meaning if I have a problem/claim I let him know and he deals with his company for me. Well not at allstate I talked to ladonia once and doug once and they both basically told me the same thing that I would have to do it cause there name ain't on the policy and I'm gonna have to call a series of 1800 numbers and deal with more automated systems to possibly get coverage. I don't believe this for a second in my opinion they both knew from our first conversation that I would be denied and if they called for me then they would have be the one to tell me it's denied. Even if they couldn't call the least they could have done is asked me to meet with him and help me get it figured out. I ended up having to pay a lawyer to contact and tell them we need a answer because they were just letting me sit in limbo for months. Then they finally sent a denial letter after. So long story short allstate is a joke and I feel robbed and completely disrespected after dealing with them. Also if you look through the reviews for all locations basically all positive ones are very short and sweet with no mention of ever trying to actually file a claim. And the negitive ones are very similar to this one.
