Friday/Saturday special: poke! Combo of spicy and limu. Yum!
    Melissa H.

What a great find!! Thank goodness for the COS Foodies FB page, where MG posted. When I saw the address, I said, HOLD UP, that's in my hood! I can bike here! For anyone who is from or has lived in the 808 or just loves island food, run, bike, or otherwise just get here. On my way home from midday Zumba on Peterson (IYKYK), I stopped in for my first taste on Friday, then surprised the hubs by bringing him for lunch here on Saturday. MG does all the island favorites in a very comforting, true-to-brand way. They don't get funky and try to "mainland-ize" their food. You really are transported to a locals-fave Hawai'i drive-in here. Everything from the decor, seating, music, food, and drinks (Hawaiian Sun) are authentic. On Friday, I got a Spam musubi, which I took home and ate right away. The sweet teriyaki combined with the salty Spam is on point. I added some furikake/sesame seeds at home for that extra oomph. If this came with egg, we would be in trouble because I'd be eating it every day, Hawai'i 7-Eleven style. Speaking of 7-Eleven, I propose that MG contract with Lion Coffee and serve up their delicious brews to make us feel even more at home, especially with that vanilla mac nut coffee. Note for military/first responders: don't forget to request your discount (I didn't even know this was a thing until after we'd already ordered Saturday). Note that there are daily specials and on Fridays and Saturdays (I'm hoping for a huli huli chicken soon), AND they serve fresh-made poke on these days! Today, they had ahi poke in spicy, shoyu, and limu (seaweed). I opted for a combo of spicy and limu, but they also give you the option of a meat plus poke combo. On Saturday, hubby ordered a loco moco (his favorite) combo with chicken katsu. I tried the katsu, which broke da mouth! He finished the loco moco before I could try, but he said it was very authentic. Note: you can have your egg cooked to your liking. It also came with a side of mac salad that was absolutely delicious and perfectly island style. I'm sad this place has been open since April and I'm just finding out (I drive by this center daily but have never stopped in here despite a liquor store and brewery). I'll definitely be back!

Amazing food with big portions and great prices. The garlic chicken is the best item on the menu. My family had the loco moco and they enjoyed it. Spam Musubi is yummy

Food was okay. Location is terrible. Interior has no ambience. Food is cooked in a food truck behind the restaurant itself.

Nothing but good words for this family-owned Hawaiian restaurant located in downtown Colorado…read moreSprings. We stumbled across this place by complete chance after noticing some people eating outside the restaurant and telling us how good it was. We decided to pop in and order a small kalbi plate and some drinks. The kalbi was super tasty and authentic. Made me feel like I was eating back home in Honolulu. It was so good, we decided to come back the next day for brunch and had the mixed plate with kalbi, garlic shrimp, mac salad, and white rice. Also had some drinks and a spam musubi. The owner came out and introduced herself to us as well. Just as I thought, she too was from Hawaii and told us that all of the pictures hanging up on the walls were taken by her on the west side of Oahu. Since this place is so tiny and easily missed, I would make it a point to visit this place in the future. Wonderful staff, Ono grindz, and a very happy customer :)

Prices are reasonable for CO and you can pick smaller plate version for cheaper price which I really like. Service is good & fast. The owner who came from Oahu is very friendly & explained to us on her family operation. The atmosphere decors with all Hawaiian pictures, Hawaiian music & moving beautiful Hawaii scenery on the TV. I thought I went back to Oahu when I stepped into Roots cafe. Definitely will be back when I'm around Colorado Springs downtown.

Update #2: I spoke…read morewith the owner over the phone regarding the dry chicken, and she was very kind and understanding about it. She told me she had already talked with her staff yesterday and agreed that the chicken was dry, and said she would fix it. I really appreciate businesses that take feedback the way she did instead of getting offended when the feedback is genuinely well-intended. Thank you so much! Raising my review back to 5 stars. :) Update #1: I feel bad having to drop a star, but I've noticed a consistent issue lately. Whenever I've ordered the BBQ chicken, it's been really dry/overcooked. I genuinely love the flavors here and the value is great, but the doneness of the chicken can make or break the dish. Please consider adjusting the cook on the chicken. When they're cooked properly and stay moist, it's an amazing meal. I really want this place to keep being one of my favorites, but this has been hard to ignore. Original review: I've been to Hafa Adai a few times now, and the food is delicious! I especially love the BBQ chicken and the dipping sauce that comes with it. My only complaint is their hours - they're a bit awkward. My husband doesn't get off work until 3, but they close at 3 on both Wednesday and Thursday. Plus, they're closed three days a week, which makes it tricky to find a good time to go.

Once mixed together, the yolk coats everything into a delicious fresh dense bowl that's deeply satisfying without feeling too heavy. The crispy calamari was a great, light, crunchy meal. The octupus pieces were thick and paired well with the sweet chili sauce. The breading wasn't distracting but rather adding to the flavor. The thai chili salmon plate was bright and fresh, with a nice balance of glaze, greens, and noodles. Overall, higher quality for lower price. We will be returning. Cocktails were just as thoughtful as the food -- vibrant, fruity, sweet, and beautifully presented. If you come here, order the Seoul Bowl.
