Biz update alert: New owners! This was purchased right before Mother's Day. Don't think they are changing much, but what I found is that the woman who bought the joint made it a family affair, as her sister and father were helping to tend to things. And each one of them were as lovely as the next. I stopped in on my way to my nieces' recital, which was being held at the Patchogue theater. The shop seemed pretty busy. Well, it was recital day after all. A lot of people needed last-minute flowers such as myself to gift to their favorite performers, but they still were able to accommodate me. I got two pink roses that were single wrapped with a beautiful butterfly decoration. Both roses were about $30 which I thought was really well priced, especially with the little added butterfly which the girls loved. I will definitely keep stopping by when in the area I need a bit of green/color either in my life or to gift to someone. They also had a really lovely plant selection as well. read more

I went in to purchase a wristlet corsage for my daughter's big day, she was getting tenure. 3 white tea roses, with blue ribbon. I don't know much about flower corsage's, but I do know it shouldn't fall apart not even an hour after putting in on. Feel ripped off, $38.00 and it fell apart!! Won't be going back there for sure. To say it was a disappointment is a understatement! I went in a women greeted me, I said I need $50.00 dollars worth of flowers just mix them up no roses please ...I'm going to put them in two vases when I get home my wife is coming home from visiting our grandkids...and I want flowers for her. The look on her face was pure disgust ( I don't know why ). Maybe because I am a women as well??? Anyway she goes in the frig and is picking flowers I said you can do a lot of baby breathe and blues and purples are good! I then notice a dog at my feet a very cute fat un groomed un bathed jack Russel. To make polite conversation I was like oh hello cutie what's your name? ( I go to pet her and she gives a very quite growl). I'm like ok maybe she smells my dogs or unfriendly to strangers) so I back off ( I'm a dog groomer btw) so to make conversation I said oh what kind of dog ? She was like a jack Russell. Keeps pulling flowers... say's nothing more ...so trying to be polite I'm like what's her name? Daisy... says nothing else....then a man walks up and says are you being helped? I said yes.. and daisy is keeping me company . He said oh she a good dog. I said how old is she? The women replies about 5. Then walks out with the bundle of flowers ( which was not impressive... I said do you have any blue flowers? The flowers where a lot of white with like one daisy and some droopy white flowers a ton of green leaves... with disgust she goes around the corner and pulls this one big blue flower and says here is your blue flower! The man walks up and she was like $50 he rings me up she places the bouquet on counter a walks away... the man was like have a nice day. I was disappointed by the flowers ( not much of a selection) the woman and the fact the dog was not really friendly to be walking around up to customers. Will NOT go back! Felt very ripped off. And felt like I was a bother! Be happy you work in a flower store for god sake! Lol read more

This florist is excellent. Best customer service ever. My husband bought me a bouquet of flowers for Valentine's Day and unfortunately the next day some flowers started to die. By Tuesday the flowers didn't look so good. I called the florist and spoke with someone there she said bring them down and they will replace the died ones. Well I went down with my flowers and they were actually closing, I told the 2 women there that I spoke to someone earlier about the flowers, she took the bouquet and threw them out and proceeded to remake me a whole new bouquet. Even more beautiful than before. I was in awe watching her make it. Talk about standing behind your flowers. The 2 women there were Amanda and Stephanie. They went above and beyond, she also gave me some info on preserving the flowers. She didn't have to do anything cause I didn't have a receipt but she did and I am totally impressed with the customer service as well as the beautiful arrangement she made!!!! An average at best florist, decent if ordered way in advance, but for how short the flowers live after you buy, and how unwilling they are to really help and impress, I drive much further from home when interested in making an on the spot purchase. Their fridge of flowers is a joke and their selection is quite limited. They overcharge for dying flowers and your lady will have a slight disappointment laced in with that whole flower getting experience. read more

Mayer's Flower Cottage is a good little flower shop right across from the Pathmark (http://www.yelp.com/biz/pathmark-of-patchogue-patchogue). It shares a building with Subway. I've done well here with little cash, they work with me an put a nice bouquet together for about fifteen or eighteen bucks. You get a lot more variety and color going this way than picking out a three for twelve deal at the local supermarket. They have a good selection of pre-made bouquets, gift plants, balloons etc. as well. In addition, the building features a flaking Hans Gabali on the Northern exterior wall which is also worth checking out (see pic). read more

I was in a panic to send my dear friend flowers for her birthday today. I waited until the last minute and now there's a snowstorm. Mayer's Flower Cottage did the flowers for my father's funeral service. Not the best time in my life. My mom & I met with Stephanie and immediately I knew we were in good hands. I asked that there be "no daisies or gerber daisies" in any arrangements. She wrote it down and said"Ok. Now what about carnations?" We went over a list. We picked a casket blanket but my father was cremated so it would require some changes to accommodate the urn. Stephanie never raised a concern about it being a problem. Instead she went to the back talked to the floral designer and just made it happen. They did a beautiful job on it. I ordered a very specific cross spray and we modified it slightly to make it more to our taste. She even called twice before it was made to make sure I would like some necessary changes. It was tasteful and appropriate. We ordered Calla lilies and again they were beautiful. Flowers aren't a big deal but when your world is spinning out of control and you feel overwhelmed, they are. The people at Mayer's took such good care of us and did beautiful work. If you need flowers for any occasion I recommend Mayer's. We came here to pick up flowers for my mother when my grandmother passed. The woman who helped us was patient and kind. She let us look through the book and showed us what vases they would go in. She asked us what we wanted to spend and offered to make a custom arrangement.
