At the same time the existing North and South Towers were updated with carpeting, lighting and paint. What a great transformation. All the common areas are new. Amities include three restaurants, indoor pool, a state of the art fitness center (with three full time staff members) and a group fitness studio for fitness classes. There are many club activities; art, bridge, canasta, rummy cube, Mexican train, mahjong, history club plus more. Every Tuesday there is a happy hour with food and live entertainment provided by Blakeford. On Fridays there is a happy hour in the Living Room or on the patio, weather permitting. Then one Sunday a month we have a Social Hour 5p to 6p where new residents mingle and meet current residents. You need to visit Blakeford and take a tour. Make sure you see Vista, the 7th floor party room and outdoor patio - - it has a view no other senior communities have. Mary and I have been asked why we chose Blakeford, and not one of the other senior living communities nearby. Today I had to deliver an order and I already knew where the place/room was but they had a lot of items (over 4 cases of soda) so I asked if they had a cart so I didn't need to make multiple trips. The white lady with blonde hair and greenish glasses at the front desk was very very rude and disrespectful towards me. She acted as if I was dumb and when I went to get the groceries from the car she didn't even give me a cart at all because she "couldn't find it" and I ended up taking all the groceries in by hand. I really hope she's not as disrespectful to the citizens living here as she was to me.

My brother stayed here for a few days after a recent hospital stay. The place is clean and much…read morenicer than when my grandmother was here years ago, but they are short staffed to the point they are not able to adequately care for their patients. My brother had defecated in his bed as he is unable to walk at this time and was left for 3 hours like this despite several requests to change him. It took a call to management before the situation was remedied. A few days later the same situation occurred at which time my brother became upset and began to act out. He suffers from brain injury after several strokes so rather than try to work with him, they sent him to a hospital once again. He will not be returning to this facility and I would not recommend them.

They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and cared about. Sycamores Terrace is in a super part of town. 5 minutes walk to the bus stop and downtown well....a 5 minute car ride to the stadium, amphitheater or Bridgestone! Great security with cameras and lighting three the halls and outside. Front doors lock at 4pm, the only way to get in is with your key. They have an underground parking facility and washers and dryers are in the basement. Should you chose to have your meals cooked for you...they post an everyday meal selection and they have an absolutely marvelous dining area to eat. The extra expense should be considered. They also have housekeeping and a hair salon once a week if you choose. Sycamores Terrace is shiny and clean and if I didn't know better...I find myself thinking I'm in a hotel on vacation. There is a small work out gym, and actuaries offered during the week for those interested. If you are considering living in a senior "hotel" I insist you try this place. It's all I could ever ask for and more....truly I can go on and on. From the politeness if staff a the front desks, Connie and Angel to the gentleman who are doing construction at this time, you are always greeted with a smile and a welcome! However, they are understaffed. And the food is unappetizing. Despite the food drawback, it can be considered a suitable place for a temporary stay. Personally, I wouldn't be able to stay here due to my food allergies, as they don't seem to cater to such dietary restrictions. However, if they did and I required rehabilitation, this would be a good choice.

This place is terrible! My mother is currently a patient at this facility and is recovering from a…read morebroken knee. I have complained to the management about staff being 45 minutes late giving her pain medication on numerous occasions. It's always a different excuse. The person with the key to the medicine cabinet is on break. They didn't know they should wake her to give her medicine. It's shift change, and no one was available. The pharmacy forgot to order more medicine, and they're out. She's repeatedly forced to use a bedpan because staff don't respond in time to help her to the bathroom. They bring her food but no utensils. It's something new every day, but the fact that they keep leaving her in pain without her medication is just cruel. Despite repeated promises, they continue to treat her poorly. As soon as the hospital bed and wheelchair ramp are delivered to my home, we're taking her out of there. It's awful!!

One would think the medical industry had appropriate staffing to handle transfers at any time. We were told by the hospital case manager that we were good to go and Natalie at NHC said come over, Mom was discharged and I showied up 2 hours later only to be told she would not be admitted since they couldn't get her meds on a holiday weekend...what a joke - my 83 yr old Mom sitting in the car and being told to take her back to the hospital for 2 more days. It's not that simple. TERRIBLE- I will take my money somewhere else and be sure to tell everyone I meet that this place is not only unprofessional but super dark and depressing inside. After seeing the place I am glad it worked out the way it did.

I find this review difficult. This is the FT hospice unit my Nana was sent to to transition into…read morehome hospice. Her five day respite stay allowed us to get a handle on what would be needed when she was brought home. We were taught how to reposition her since she became paralyzed after suffering a massive stroke. We were taught how to give her medications since she can no longer swallow. Things I never wanted to learn but now have to know. The people here have a special calling. I cannot imagine what it must be like to work with so many people who are transitioning into the final stage of their life as they go through the dying process. So many of them told my mother and me that it was an absolute privilege to do this type of work. All I know is that I am grateful there are caregivers like them out there for people like us. On a separate note, the home health team from Alive Hospice has also been great. I am grateful for these angels on earth to be here and give my grandmother peace, dignity and respect as her little body shuts down.
