I was very favorably impressed with the attention and care he received from the care staff, and it made things much better for him. During those early days, I asked about what would happen if he passed away, and I was told, "Oh, the social worker with help you with all of that." I was called late one night by the supervising nurse to tell me my relative had passed away, and that Tennessee regulations required I have the body removed within two hours (which I later learned is not the case). I asked if there was someone at McKendree who could help, such as the social worker, and the nurse said I should call a funeral home. I quickly tried to locate a funeral home, which said they could help, but they had never heard of the "two hour" regulation. Indeed, while I was speaking with the funeral director, the nurse called again to ask me when someone would be coming for the body! The funeral home did collect the body, shortly after McKendree's two-hours were up. Those two calls from the supervising nurse were *the only* calls I have received from McKendree regarding my relative's passing. Nor have there been any emails or text messages. I have placed calls to, and left voicemail messages for, the social worker who had called me months ago when my relative was about to be admitted, the business office, the admissions office, McKendree's main number, the floor nurses station. NO ONE has called me. In addition, the funeral home director was unable to get the death certificate for five full days after my relative died. He told me he had called McKendree several times a day trying to get it, and even visited the facility, but had no success. At last it finally was issued. So, as to the care given by the nurses and aids, I would give FIVE STARS. As to the "help" of the office, social worker and management-type staff, ZERO STARS.

I do not recommend anyone consider living at Hermitage Towers. My experience as a tenant has been…read morefilled with ongoing maintenance issues, poor communication, and troubling behavior from management. Repairs are routinely delayed, ignored, or only partially completed. Despite months of reporting serious problems--including a leaking roof, water intrusion in the kitchen and living room, mold concerns, and HVAC failures--many of these issues were either temporarily patched or not addressed at all. I had to manage repeated flooding with buckets and a shop-vac during family gatherings, and much of the labor to contain damage fell on me. Management has consistently used rent status as a reason to withhold repairs, which is a violation of Tennessee tenant law. Multiple employees acknowledged this, yet no meaningful steps were taken to correct it. Promises to meet with corporate to discuss fair compensation were made but never honored, despite written confirmations. Adam, the on-site salesman, made several promises during move-in that were never kept. Worse, he knowingly made statements and took actions that are illegal--including threatening to call the police and make false claims against me during a disagreement, which I documented on video. Once he realized he was being recorded, he changed his tone. The overall handling of tenant concerns here is unprofessional and reactive. Corners are cut with the cheapest options, resulting in repairs being redone multiple times, costing more in the long run and leaving tenants stuck in unsafe or substandard living conditions. While the location is convenient and the community has potential, the current leadership and maintenance practices fall far below acceptable standards. If you're looking for a place that respects tenants, responds appropriately to issues, and operates within the law--this is not it.

After an evaluation at The Renewal Center in Carthage, we were frantically looking for a memory care facility. The Pavilion Senior Living Center seemed to check the boxes... nice building, a cafeteria that offered about anything Momma would want, seemed great. After we got a room reserved, we find out that we had to provide toilet paper! ??? We were paying over $5,000 a month! There were cleanliness issues, the food went downhill, the entrance to the memory care area stayed out of order for months, requiring staff to let us in and out, if we could find anyone. There was a management change and we were promised they had experience working with Alzheimer's patients and could find ways to work with Momma. Well, within six weeks they were blaming our mother for them not being able/willing to work with an Alzheimer's patient with needs. That was the final straw! I do not recommend this facility for memory care.

Once we had her established into her room, it seemed good. Well, that is not the case. My mom had neuropathy and lost her toes on one foot from diabetes, so she lost the ability to walk. My sisters and I have visited often, as well as her grandchildren. Unfortunately, Covid consumed the world, and affected the entire assisted living community as well as the world. She was, and others, were so isolated, and fed garbage food, because they didn't have staff to cook the residents healthy meals. My mom complained a lot to me about the food...she had no teeth...and, she was diabetic....Nothing they served her was appropriate. Oh, But they charged her $5000 per month to live there. For $5000 a month, she and other residents got served Hot dogs, microwaved food, nothing was nutritious or easy to chew for anyone that has no teeth. When I visited there (I am from Florida) , I witnessed the CNAs tend to my mother, helping her to use the potty, after they cleaned her the pulled their gloves off and were going to exit her room. I stopped them and asked them if they were going to empty the portable potty? They looked at each other and with a shrug, said, we just took our gloves off. Prior to visiting my mom, I walked into her room, the toilet had feces. It was obvious that it had been there a while. Her roomed smelled awful. No attendant noticed? My mother had an incident late one night in May, where she tried to use the bathroom, after trying to get help. She accidently fell under her electric wheelchair and her left calf got mauled, a gash 11inches long on her left calf...required 78 stitches! Afterwards, my sisters went to her room to check out "How".....The room was immaculately cleansed?? Mom was in the hospital several times while she resided there. The nurse and staff DID Not tend to her like they told us they would. My mother died 16 July 2024. I will Never give this facility a "Thank You". The facility director, is a Liar, and a phony person. Do Not Send any money to your loved on in this facility. They will ROB them. Please do not let your Loved one go here.
