This was my favorite bar that I went to on my Australia trip and maybe one of my favorite bars of all time! Very cool menu that follows a board game structure, the bar itself was very upbeat and fun with loud good music. But the best part was the drinks! Super creative and Instagram worthy but NOT gimmicky and actually had substance! Every drink we ordered was so cool! I got the "Buffet" drink which was supposed to satisfy every taste profile - salty, sweet, sour, bitter, umami. It had different salt / sour dips on the side of the glass so tasted different depending where you were sipping from and ingredients included miso & cocoa butter, tomato, gin, black tea, passion fruit. It was the most unique drink I have ever tried and got me into tomato cocktails!!! I will now order a tomato cocktail anytime I see one on a menu!

    Have a great weekend, Yelpers!

j: do you recommend maybe sammy? n: definitely sammy! j: no booking required? n: definitely not required but a short wait outside might entail. as for myself, solo means i get to jump to the front and get seated right where the action is, the bar! j: oh the bar is where the dashing bartenders are? n: decked out in their signature pink jackets, oozing with enthusiasm and an infectious friendliness that make you want to stay, all night long! j: oh they have a happy hour right? n: that's right, $7 mini cocktail happy hour daily from 4.30-5.30pm! j: how is the ambiance? n: party rock is in the house every night, everybody's having a good time! the music breaks into performances every now and then with signature bubbles filling the bar like a child's dream party! j: and the drinks? n: creative, thematic, on point. you can definitely taste the effort that went into each quality crafted cocktail and every subsequent sip compounds the fun you imbibed. j: maybe sammy? n: definitely sammy! ;)

Saw Maybe Sammy was on the best 50 bars list and knew I had to check it out while in Sydney. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a chic and spacious location with bubbles and upbeat music in the background. The menu followed the theme of The Grand Budapest hotel. I got the Aromatherapy, a whiskey based drink, that was smooth and soothing. The service was incredible, our bartender offered us many suggestions of his favorite bars in town. Such a great experience!

After being recommended this spot by multiple people (one being someone who worked at a different bar), I was excited to try it. The service is very welcoming and attentive. We were given olives and nuts with our drinks which I love. The whole bar is so so cute. The menu alone is a board game and all the drinks are hotel themed, they even give you an explanation of your drink. I got the wake up call which was incredible! Would def recommend & would want to go back to try more of their menu. My partner got something off their classics menu, not their speciality menu, but he mention it being one of the best margaritas he's ever had! Loved when the bar tenders were using a bubble machine!

Love the spot. So much fun! Everything and everyone is fun and whimsical. We came on a Saturday before dinner; we needed to get out by 5:30 to make dinner, so we stopped by extra early to be sure we got into the first round. We came by at 4 pm and were first in line; if you want your pick of seating, I'd recommend getting here around 4:15 pm. To get into the first round (based on this one experience anyways), you should be fine if you stop by 5 minutes before opening (4:25 pm). The happy hour is amazing - mini cocktails at AUD$7 and oysters at AUD$2 each. I love the mini cocktails! Aside from being a good deal, I love that they were tiny so even someone like me (super light weight when it comes to alcohol) can still have a few! Both the hubby and I had 3 each. =D My favs were the lychee martini, maybe margarita, and Irish coffee. Big shout out to Emery for making awesome cocktails and a fun happy hour! He was a hoot!

I went for the oysters and left unsatisfied Ok ok, different country = different oysters but I just wasn't a fan. Thankfully, they were on $2 Haply Hour because I left about half of my dozen and a half order. I believe the oysters were from Tasmania and they were served on rocks instead of ice, so they were room temperature not cold ‍ the taste was very fishy and they were large, which I don't love. Drinks we had a martini and whiskey, both were tasty but I prefer my olives pitted in my drinks. The bartenders seemed to enjoy their jobs, which was fun so I'd say give it a try.

Wowwww Wowwwww Wowwwww, I can absolutely see why Maybe Sammy made it to number 1 on the top500 list! This is so much more than a bar, it's a whole experience. You just feel good the second you enter the door. The cocktails are out of this world yes, but the show that you get while enjoying them is everything! I've been to a lot of bars and never experienced something like this in all my years of traveling. All of the bartenders make you feel right at home. Everyone is super friendly and crazy energetic throughout the entire night. The vibe is just on another level, feels more like a party than a bar hahaha. Can't wait to come back, looking up tickets now!

A very well deserved on the best bars in the world. The drinks were all super well balanced and tasty. Got a variety and my favorite was the espresso martini and the Marilyn Monroe inspired one. Come early as it can get absolutely packed.

MAYBE SAMMY IS A MUST!! While on holiday in Sydney, I stumbled upon Maybe Sammy and I am so glad I did as it is now one of my favorite cocktail bars. The concept of this bar is such a fun one, it is a "hotel bar" that is not in a hotel. The theme is executed perfectly as you truly feel like you've stepped into a five-star hotel upon entering. The bar itself is a masterpiece, with bartenders dressed in vintage attire, ready to mix up some of the most whimsical and fun cocktails I've ever had. The creativity behind each cocktail is impressive and adds a layer of entertainment to your night out. All of the cocktails were phenomenal and presented in such a fun way. The bartenders and staff were incredibly friendly and did a wonderful job of playing the role of "hotel bar staff". If you're looking for a unique and memorable night out, this is the place to be. I can't wait to return and try more of their inventive cocktails. Highly recommend!

This place goes all in on the 1950s, in the best way possible. There's old school music blaring from the sound system, bartenders decked out in white blazers, and delicious cocktails on the menu. Both the cocktails I tried were fantastic! All the flavors came through, it was obvious they use the freshest ingredients. Lots of skill goes into making these drinks. If the cocktails weren't reason enough to visit (they really should be), I also got a half dozen oysters, and WOW! I finally understand what it means for oysters to be creamy and buttery in texture. These are all local, and the flavor is amazing. Definitely come here for great cocktails, great food, and a space that commits to classiness, with plenty of room for groups of all sizes.

Wonderfully inventive cocktail spot. Drinks based on Movie titles and a theatrical performance making them. Great service.

We did not have a reservation, but they fit us in as a walk-in at a small coffee table with 2 ottoman seats. Not the most comfortable set up, but I appreciate the cozy atmosphere, almost like you are sitting in someone's very posh and dimly lit den. All the NOLA classics were featured, like Vieux Carre (no likey), old fashioned (likey), and hurricane. There were some twists on the classics as well. I liked the newer house specialties, and ended up having 3 drinks, more than I intended. We snacked on some popcorn chicken, which was nothing special, but very satisfying when hungry. We were also lucky enough to be there when the live jazz band played a brief set, which really set the mood. I took off a star because not every drink was a homerun, and the service was a bit too impersonal for a speakeasy. We had a different server each time. One of my favorite parts of going to a speakeasy is to watch the bartenders work their magic and ask them for recommendations, and if I'm lucky, maybe get an off menu drink. Not quite set up that way here.

The photos in the entry way were super cool. As we descended down the stairs, it felt like we were going back in time to the Roaring 20s. It was a Wednesday night, so the bar wasn't terribly crowded, though it was still busy. We grabbed a seat and browsed the menu. After a few minutes, no one came by so I eventually got up and ordered at the bar. I had to wait nearly 10 minutes before I was even able to order a drink. I don't know what the hold up was, but the service was extremely slow. While I was waiting, there were some drunk guys who were pushing the hanging light fixtures. This went on for a few minutes and the staff never said anything to them. It was annoying and extremely off putting. Once I was finally able to order a drink, I asked for a Martinez. The bartender could not understand me. I think I repeated myself at least three times. I guess the way I pronounced "Martinez" sounded like "martinis" lol. I ended up pointing to the drink in the menu before he finally understood what I was trying to order. I know I have an accent, but I didn't think it was that heavy lol. I will say that my Martinez was well made and tasted so good! My friend had planned to order a drink, but changed her mind after she saw how long it took for me to get my drink. Luckily she's a local, so she can go back whenever she wants. If it weren't for the long wait and the annoying drunk guys, this would have been a 5-star experience. If you enjoy craft cocktails and have patience, go check it out.
