WOW!! where do I start?!?! I would definitely use caution when booking this venue!!!!! We once thought of the owners as "friends" until Gary May pulled his stunt during and before my husbands party!! First of all he comes in all pissed off and starts yelling at me in regards to why his UTV is at the pavilion (it wasn't his UTV) while I was decorating (caught me off guard), I said " I don't know whose UTV's are out there as I ask Grant for help to move the bands equipment to the inside stage as they started to set up outside"!! If I didn't have guest arriving shortly I would of had the band pack up at that time!!! Then Gary (owner) proceeded to hound and intimidate our guests making some feel very uncomfortable!! Then there comes the GREED!! Him and my husband had worked out a deal (my husband thought so), which Gary didn't hold up to!! I also got ahold of the manager and asked her to send me my invoice her words " I don't think you have an invoice". SMH Gary took money out of our plumbing invoice (money May Farms owed our company for work performed) without our knowledge meant and it was way more than discussed!! Great place for Tough Mudder venue. Ideally situated close to the highway and nice hotels. Cannot wait until the next one here!

My daughter was married on May 26 th 2018. Our reception was held at May Farms We planned the wedding in 46 days! So it could've been very stressful. It really wasn't Mostly due to the friendly and every accommodating Stacy and Hollee. Needless to say our experience with Hollee and Stacy at May Farms was incredible. I live near here. Eat here often. I am a breastfeeding mom and they are kinder than many restaurants. They also let me take much longer than other places. They have bacon that isn't the crap served at hotels nor restaurants buffets. Homemade and cooked like at home by my mom! Eggs much better quality. Unlike many who mix in dairy for omelets... the food is faster and for many who are expecting a nice modern retreat this is THE country. And I'm from Wyoming and this place is top of the line. If ya want better facilities and yuppy stuff expect the crap hotel like bacon that is microwaved. Sure things can run more smoothly but this is still a farm. Things come up. At least there isn't cow poop smell people. The Sunday brunch can kinda get busy with a rush but worth it and haven't had to wait. I end up eating six eggs a biscuit or two with gravy had a huge meat fall of the one rib and chicken drumstick BBQ a coffee cake type dessert and sticky bun cin roll and two slices bacon and three pancakes dollar size like I asked and one of the three eggs were in an egg and ham omelet green tea and lastly had potato salad and some macaroni salad. Week before had hot mac and cheese which is not cheaply made and chocolate covered strawberries plus a yogurt parfait with berries bacon. This place is awesome bc my mom whom has a egg and fish allergy can eat practically everything since eggs are cooked away from rest of food. My green tea was organic btw. 12$ for buffet of homemade cooking quality is awesome. And I can feed my baby and notnhave an issue like eating at egg and I or dennys and junk. The people that eat also are nice. Not Wyoming rancher with poop all over. Granted I have been there done that myself with cow stink on my clothes. This is nice. But instead of 15$ and cheap bacon and super nice up to par thinks this is like a old time diner home cooked food. This is like old time dinning halls. This place still has the country. Had a mimosa last time for 3$ and it was good. There seemed to be at least more then five larger parties this Sunday who looked satisfied and doubt bc of countryness will they post or even get on yelp. Not worth the drive. Drove all the way out there and nothing to see or do. The owner was rather unfriendly too. Then the hail and severe weather came. The town of Byers seemed to be pretty boarded up as well. A dying praire town. A made a special trip out there just to go to this place - wish I hadn't. Wasted half a tank of gas. If you want to see a real working farm, I'd go someplace else like Miller Farms up in Platteville. They have real field trips, lots of farm equipment to see, a petting zoo, and hey - a real farm stand with locally grown crops. If your car breaks down or you need gas, you'll find help or gas along I-25. Out in Byers - not likely. Tornado alley. read more

I went to the May Farms Holiday Party. Their new chef, Jason Fellers, was amazing. The food was great, the entertainment was fantastic. The Holiday decorations really made May Farms great for a good time for the Holidays. The snow that night didn't hurt either, the grounds looked spectacular with all the new fallen snow. I recently attended a wedding at May Farms and was appalled when the staff started taking the food away, claiming that the wedding had already wen't over their head count. I understand the the importance of the RSVP and being responsible for the amount of food that you order for an event. However, what was disturbing was that there was still plenty of food left at the buffet line when they started taking it away and a few guests had not yet eaten. If they were concerned about the amount of food that was paid for, they should have only made was paid for. I thought it was bad taste to make extra food and then deny it. I also thought it was unprofessional when the staff stepped on the dance floor to join the party. They are there to do a job, they were not invited guests. read more

Sunday Brunch at May Farms saved my mommy retreat weekend! My accommodations lacked a restroom for 5 hours per day, so I went out searching the local area for a decent meal and clean restroom. Not only did they offer a classic and delicious all you can eat brunch, including a custom omelet and pancake bar, for a mere $12, the restaurant area was decorated with family heirlooms, including quilts, aprons, wedding dresses, and other memorabilia. One of the staff members took quite a bit of time telling me about all of it and encouraged me to visit the goats, chickens, and sheep. I plan to return with family and friends. It is a very family friendly place that is well maintained and full of historic charm. read more

We have gone to two brunches and just had our first dinner at May Farms and have loved all of them. Recipes that taste like the ones handed down through families. All the food was great and I am so picky about baked beans (I usually only like mine and my Mom's, have not eaten any in a restaurant that I like) and the ones at May Farms are wonderful! I had the cherry crunch pie tonight and WOW! The crust is flaky and buttery, again I usually don't like pie crust! The service is always friendly and nice. It is like dinner with family!! I'm not too thrilled with the balloon festival event. It's not worth the drive, $10 parking, or $10 per person entry. There's only a handful of vendors. One food vendor. That's right only ONE! and one ice cream truck. Balloons are only out at 7am and 7pm. For the 12 hours in between is live music and nothing else. The band that was playing almost drove us out. Let me just say "WOW"!!! A friend told me about this place, in what I would consider rural area of Colorado, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. It seems like on Friday's and Saturday's they are open to the public for dining. It is a limited menu, but who needs a million choices that are made meh, when you can have a smaller menu done superbly!! We had the hot wings which had a unique taste( in a good way!!) that definitely got your attention( again in a good way), their take on a philly cheese steak, and a cherry crumble for dessert. The cheese steak was huge!!! It was filled to the gill with meat, peppers, cheese, and onions. It would have made philly proud. I finally had to give up eating it after about 3/4 of the way done. Why would I quit when it was so good you may ask?? I had to try the dessert which didn't disappoint!! Service was good, we met the owners and some local folk. This is quite a little gem in a seemingly sleepy town. My next trip to Colorado will have to include a dinner here:)) read more

Came to the Hot Air Balloon and Kite Festival and it was a terrible experience! There was 6 vendors, no balloons and 3 kids flying personal kites. We asked for the advertised petting zoo and none of the staff knew where that was. We wandered around and found 3 goats. I politely asked for a refund and explained that I had not enjoyed this balloon "festival" as there was no balloons and was passed along to several people with no resolve. Finally a lady told me I should have read the schedule & that they would give me a call back. In the end, this is the most expensive hay ride I've ever paid for & my family is out $50! read more

Don't go to May Farms in Byers, Colorado! We drove a couple of hours to get there after seeing the wonderful looking things they claimed to offer on their website, as well as after calling them. We wanted to take my mother out to a nice place for a fall trip, and May Farms claimed to be a place "like none other, with homemade cooking". After we drove all that way, we were told that they weren't doing the home cooking that day and all they could serve us was hamburgers. Several other customers were shocked and dismayed, as well as angry, as we were. To boot, we were forced to eat outside, as there was a wedding party indoors. Even though I had called days in advance, no one told me of this. I did go inside to use the restroom, and the restaurant looked old and run down; the entire trip was a waste! 60 bucks for two adults and two kids. A menu that's close to 10 items only. And on top of all that the food is terrible. The biscuits were so dry that even after soaking them for 5 minutes I had a very difficult time cutting through them with a knife. read more
