The Chicago style hotdog was on point. All the right toppings and the beef dog tasted delicious. Service was quick and easy since we went through the drive through. And not much to say about the ambience. read more

Ouuugh, I saw so hungry when my friend and I hit Maxwells. Maxs looks and feels like a hole in the wall fast food joint. No seating on the inside and there is the secured plexiglass wall separating the kitchen from the customers. The menu items were all over the place with no cohesiveness. I guess they can all be grouped together as street food. I was very apprehensive about ordering Mexican food at a non Mexican food place. I did get the beef torta and and it was very good. The beef had some good savory flavor to it. The bread was toasted and had lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese to add to the heftiness. The amount of food and the size of the sandwich was very much worth it. Fresh fries came with it and I liked the fries as well. My friend liked everything he ordered too. The food was banging, but this is not the type of food to eat on a regular basis for the health conscious people. The majority of the items are fried, but I would return to eat there again for some great food! read more

Keep your head on a swivel. Don't come here trying to be cutesy, hip, cool. Get in line, pay and don't talk to anyone, they are not your little friends. Nostalgia brings me here. Pork chop and Polish sandwiches here remind me of my grandma. I love little places like this in Chicago, just remember nobody in line with you is your friend. MIND YOUR BUSINESS... read more

Picked Maxwell SE because of its 4 stars on Yelp. Let me say that they are well deserved. Service: 10/10 The man who took our order was so nice, he explained what came on the hot dogs with patience and efficiency. He even came out after and gave us fresh hot fries for free. Food: 10/10 FAST, FRESH AND DELICIOUS!!!! All were so flavorful and each hotdog comes with fries. The price point and flavor are unbeatable! Ambiance: There was one small table that comfortably fit 5 outside. I wish there was more seats, as it only had this single table. The sun was bright out, so it was perfectly enjoyable to eat outside. Overall: while in Chicago, come to Maxwells! read more

The few times I've been there I've been disappointed every time. I've gotten the beef polish or the double cheeseburger. The taste of the polish is really good but it's never hot and the grilled onions are over cooked. Same for the burger. The last time I went the onions were black. That's how over cooked they were. Never again will I go back read more

Just like all the other Maxwell's fast and tasty. Service is quick and regular calm ambiance.

The food was tasteless no seasonings and they put mustard on my pork chop and when I told him no mustard he started acting like he didn't understand what I was saying nasty and the added bonus it made me sick(probably because it was precooked) but they was quick in getting the food to you. read more

Drove 30 minutes to get food. I was looking forward to cheese fries the whole way home. Got home and bam, no cheese fries. Food was okay, nothing spectacular. Service was decent but again, my order was wrong. I would very much like to say I would definitely go back but I would not go back, nor recommend this place to anyone. read more

Always fresh delicious and quick !!! A personal favorite... The entire menu is Fabulous and don't forget the frozen drinks.....

They are not closed. Just bought 4 steak tacos from there. They come with lettuce tomatoes and cheese but I requested onions and cilantro. They were ok. But since it was 7AM. I have no complaints. read more

This place sells some great steak tacos with homemade sauce for only $2.45 and it was quite tasty. I didn't pay the extra for the sour cream, extra cheese and something else...but it still was packed with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and very flavorful meat. Someone told me about this place months ago but I'm like a Maxwell's that sells taco "No Thanks" because I experienced it from another Maxwell's before and it was just ok...so it took me a moment to give this place a try, but I'm glad I did. They also sell pizza, steak sandwiches and the ole stand-bys like most Maxwell's. I haven't had any of that but I will oh yes I will and soon...lol They have a few benches outside so you could eat your food if you don't want to sit in your car and chow down. I should have sat down but I had other errands to run so yeah I made a big mess as I walked to my next location, but it was worth it. Only thing I wish is that I would have bought 3 tacos instead of 1...lol "TRUTH!!!" You can go to that Aldi's first and get some sour cream and peppers if you are on a budget then you can get 4 tacos. I'm silly I know but I already plan on updating my review when I taste some other foods that have here. So, look for it because I hope they don't disappoint me and ruin my first experience. One more thing my food was hot and very. The man who took my order was very nice and people kept coming into the establishment...some seem to know them. They do take credit and debit cards but I'm not sure if there is a minimum you have to buy if you use it. They are open 24 hours as well which is cool if you want a late night snack...or an early one depending on how you look at it. So as always... Enjoy!!! read more

This place is such a good drunk spot, haha. I have gone to Maxwell Street Polish twice and i'm not even a fan of hot dogs, but this isn't a hot dog (apparently, lol)! My only complaint is that the french fries are kind of bland and boring. Otherwise, I'm a fan (or maybe I only love them when i'm drunk?) read more

I truly hope someone from management see this review...I am in the most level of shock. I'm 45 yrs old & have been eating Maxwell food all my life...tonight was the 1st time ever that my order was so beyond messed up & the reaction from the supposed "manager" on site was horrendous. I asked for 4 fish sandwiches - 3 how they are prepared (cheese & tartar sauce) & 1 just cheese. I got 3 sandwiches with Tartat sauce inky & 1 sandwich with tartar & cheese. While the young gentleman took the order & went to prepare it. The older hispanic man (supposedly the manager) came and asked me in the lowest voice possible if I wanted 2 with cheese only or 1...to which I stated 1 cheese only. Upon realizing the order was wrong...I take it back (never left the curve). The older gentleman quick asked me what's wrong...I explain it to he & he tells me that he had asked me if I wanted cheese on all the sandwiches, which is not what he asked...they made the sandwiches again and charged me 1.50 for their mistake & again get my cheese only sandwich wrong again...my nephew spits it our. I go back again & ask to speak to the manager...low & behold it is the nosey Hispanic man...who by the way also asked if we wanted onions on my sandwiches (not part of the original order). Once I asked to speak to the manager, the ol Hispanic man could only tend to the cash register...which I know is his ppsition...he's always the 1 take the money. The cook (unfortunately, comesbforward to handle the errors made by the order gentleman to which he stays the the younger gentleman who original took my order is new & doesn't know what he is doing...mind you this young (white) guy has no disappeared & nowhere to be see. A cook that is at a fry station points to another gentleman when I asked for a manager...not pointing to the Hispanic man & was waved off...he just shut his mouth and turned around. Then I'm told by the cook that the old Hispanic man is the too manager (adding in a low voice) for tonight. I said there is noone above him...he said no...I asked not even an owner? No answer. I have never receive this level of disrespectful service for this establishment...never ever any issues with my issues...to come here today and made to feel like I didn't know what I was order when I have been ordering fish sandwiches for years. I can handle a mistake from a food establishment...that doesn't bother me, especially from a place like this that is constantly busy. But to blame the customer for an employee's mistake is beyond comprehensible. So sad that a proud Chicagoan after a life time of patronage is made to feel like a stupid ass because they couldn't take accountability for their mistake. I hope this review is noticed by the owners because I'm sure if they do this to a local...how they must be with tourists aho don't know their menu & are recommended to come here because it is 1 of the best Chicago hidden gems. read more

First off the immediate area isn't "ghetto". I'd say about a mile away is ghetto. The problem is, this is where they all come out to eat. Second, they need to do something about the beggar problem. There is ONE that will be there day in day out asking you for $.75 or $1.00. They just sit there and look at him. Plus, he will be ignorant about it too and talk about you as you walk away (even if you do give him money). Third, if you like old stale "grilled" onions on everything then you're right at home. I've been to a couple Maxwell's that have better onions but these are pretty bad and the smell kinda gets to you if you live near by. Lastly, although the onions are bad I do suggest the pizza. For $3.00 you get a pretty big slice with a can of pop and it isn't bad. Plus, they deliver whole pies. My suggestion, like everybody else, don't go there when you're sober and look out for the bum. read more

This place never fails to deliver when your drunk at 2-3-4am in the morning. ive never eaten at this place sober, but i don't really think its meant for that. best fucken porkchop sandwhiches everrrrr you arent a true uic student if you've never been to maxwells. has served me well many a time after clubbin or just drinking late by campus read more

I just left from this restaurant minutes ago. I bought the Mexican corn. I was already leary of them but I figured I'll go ahead because I really wanted some corn. Saying that this was just a hot dog is an understatement. The polish sausages are perfectly cooked, tender with the right amount of snap. The polish comes with fries and if you're a student a free drink. The food is not pricey whatsoever. The place is also a classic. read more
