If I could give this salon zero stars, I absolutely would. I recently found out how my brother was treated here, and I am honestly disgusted. He is one of the kindest, most genuine, and hardworking people I know. He treats everyone with love and respect, and he absolutely does not deserve to be made to feel uncomfortable or judged while PAYING for a service. Making a comment about him wanting French tips because of his gender/sexuality is completely inappropriate, unprofessional, and honestly just cruel. There is absolutely nothing wrong for anyone wanting whatever makes them feel confident and happy. Your job as a salon is to provide a service and make your clients feel welcome, not make comments that shame or belittle them. This is not "just a comment." That kind of behavior is bullying, and it can genuinely affect someone's confidence and make them feel like they have to hide parts of themselves. Nobody should have to experience that, especially from people they are literally paying to provide a service. If you can't provide that basic level of kindness and professionalism to every client who walks through your doors, you shouldn't be in a customer-facing business. I would strongly encourage people to think twice before supporting a business that makes its clients feel judged or unwelcome for simply being themselves. Everyone deserves to leave a salon feeling good about themselves not embarrassed or belittled. read more

I've been to many nail salon in my life as a man and never in my life have I been so mistreated then when I went here. From dirty looks through the whole experience, rushing me from the start, completely ignoring my requests. Even the final product turned out poorly. I got French tips and they are crooked, and when the woman sanded my fingernails she didn't go with the shape on my finger so they look crooked as well. Overall wouldn't suggest anyone to go if you are afraid of dealing with blatant homophobia. read more

went for a pedicure..."uncle fred" cut deep under the big toe nail, causing an infection, severe and painful...had to go to urgent care for treatment [a $50 charge] and needed antibiotics [ more $$] the owner was very cavalier about this even when I showed her photos of my infected toe.. after going on State of California Dept. of Health, website, I found that Maxwell Nails is NOT approved/licensed to perform pedicures with ingrown toenails... BE WARY of getting a pedicure here... read more

Clean and remodeled nicely. We take gramma here often for a pedicure. It's $37. Not too bad. She's usually in and out 30-40 mins staff is nice as well read more

I had so much fun with the owner, Ut, painting my Halloween manicure! She is a creative artist. It was my first time at the salon. It was beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was very chill. I'll be back! read more

Excellent service! They were able to book an appointment fast and did a wonderful job.

Attentive service, beautiful atmosphere, excellent nail technicians always a nice vibe!

Poor massage. Little callus removal didn't even do the back of my heels.. my big toenails are different lengths. I won't be going back to this nail salon. I think there's probably other girls in there that are more capable, but the one I had I was not placed with. read more

Beautifully remodeled. Smells nice. Friendly and kind staff. Fantastic pedicures! We will definitely be back. read more

I am trying Collagen treatments in my Pedicure and manicure. It feels terrific. My skin since turning older has been very dry and this process has helped improve these areas. This is now my third month and the treatment has given my hands and feet measurable improvement and softness. Very happy and would recommend a try! read more

Came in around 4:30 pm for both a deluxe pedicure and acrylic full set. They slayed! I love my nails! The nail tech was very nice and patient and really took her time understanding what I wanted. My mom loved her pedicure also! Definitely recommend. read more

They can only do basic nail designs. Also during pedicure which was super rushed, I asked them to cut my nails a bit and she refused because " it wouldn't look good". read more

I go to this nail salon whenever I need a pedi and have always had a fantastic result. They do get busy, of course, as all service places in Sonoma do, particularly on the weekends, but their service and attention to detail is very consistent. They pay particular attention to hygiene which I appreciate. I have to give a shout out to Lee, who does the absolute best foot massage ever! I'm always jealous when my mom gets Lee instead of me if we go together. The salon recently underwent a remodel and it looks fresh and fantastic! I unreservedly recommend this place if you need a mani or pedi. read more

Average. I guess I'd go again if I were desperate. The tools appeared clean, the basins were lined. There is considerable polish slip on my pinky. My toes still had a lot of rough dead skin. I had to file one of my nails afterwards. The massage was nice - using a scrub and hot stones. The practitioners were all nice. read more

I took my 13 year old granddaughter here for acrylic nails with custom drawings. She was very happy with the results as were all of her friends and random people. This made me happy and sort of a hero to her. She loved the service and unhurried attention. The cost was reasonable. I highly recommend this salon. read more

A bit pricey ($45 for a mani-pedi?) but the massage and hot stone extra is almost worth it. Come for a pedi when your feet are bruised and calloused. Located in maxwell farms where all the action is, this place is ridiculously friendly - even to ladies with small children. i love that my 3yo nephew was given a foot massage while me and my sister got one as our polish was drying out. We did a walk in at 530pm on a Friday. we got a spot right away. but i could see that the place can fill up quick. read more

Maxwell Nails Salon - magic rocks! - Nail Salons Near Me - Sonoma, California

BLOODY NAILS. Had to tell the lady to stop after she cut me twice doing my cuticles. It wasn't a small cut either. Needed bandaids to apply pressure to stop the bleeding. I have not written a negative review before. If they had apologized, comp'd the pedicure or at least offered a discount I probably wouldn't be writing this. Don't want to hurt the business, but also don't want someone to experience what I did. read more

Maxwell Nails Salon - BLOODY NAILS. Had to ask the lady to stop after the second cut. - Nail Salons Near Me - Sonoma, California

I've never written a review for anything before but felt I had to give the ladies at Maxwell Nails some props. I have the worst time keeping my nails looking nice. Between horses, small construction projects at home and work, my manicures don't last even a day or two. Then I found Maxwell Nails and the dip powder manicure. My hands have never been prettier*** and the dip powder mani is tougher than my lifestyle. I highly recommend it to the ladies whose horses, projects, etc. take 1st place but you still want to be able to show your hands in public with pride. ***No pics at this time I'm getting them re done next week so I'll try to post results. read more

In and out in less than 20 minutes for a pedicure. Hardly cleaned my nails. Massage was only a few minutes and so light it was annoying. I asked for more pressure and the man Saud yes but it was awful. No base coat. Place was dirty. Equipment was old. Towels stained. Do not go there. read more

I won't go back. My pedicure today was rushed and completed in less than 20 minutes. Much of my massage time was mixed with the playing and refilling of bottles. Foot massage was OK, but no calf massage at all. No tip was left and I will not be back ever. read more

Horrendous salon. If you like a touch of something remotely resembling social skills and pride in their work, do not go here. I don't get pedicures very often, but have never had one without at least a smile or hello from the staff. Mai worked on me and did not look at me or say hello or smile. All she did was hit my feet when she wanted me to move them to the stool. The foot/leg massage was so light that it tickled. Then she walked away and just left me in the chair when she was done. Didn't say anything or let me know that she was finished. When I asked if she was done, the manger came over and asked me how it was so I said OK and pointed out the flaws. She then spent 10 minutes fixing it. I mentioned that she should train the staff so she wouldn't have to fix their work. I have never had such an unpleasant pedicure experience. read more

My husband and I are very happy with Maxwell nails. All the girls are very nice and do a great job. My husband and I have our favorite ladies that we use and when we call to book we are always accommodated. We appreciate the liners they use in the pedi tubs and they have extras such as hot rock message when they do pedi's which are really nice. I get a gel manicure, my nails and cuticles always look great when my nail tech is done and the polish always lasts for at least two weeks. In fact I usually go in due to my nails growing out not issues with the gel. The gal I use is the best that I have found. read more

Nails look fine, but the customer service is subpar (at least the lady who did my nails, didn't seem like she l) $65 for nail "extensions" that were not as well done as my usual salon, and $25 more, really disappointing service for the price / time I spent there Week update: Nails are chipping and starting to come off, $65 for them to not even last a week? My usual salon is $45 and my nails last me over a MONTH. calling today to receive a refund. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Look I hate giving such low rating, but it's accurate and this is accumulated from all of my visits. I'm not a regular; I would come in every once in a while to treat myself. I found it to be a very uncomfortable treatment each time. All of my pedicures were rushed, and the cleaning around my nails wasn't ever done; they would always just kind of pretend by going down every toe and acting like they were perfect. (Which I can tell you they weren't that's why I was there. ) They would just touch each one and not cut anything off. The massage was fine, but the salt scrub was literally put on my legs and rinsed off right as soon as it was put on. I really liked the fact that they had liners that's why I kept going back for my pedicures, but finally I've given up since I'm not a regular they will never give me the same treatment they give to their regulars and I can say this because I've seen it with my own eyes. I always made sure to give a really nice tip($8-10) so maybe they would remember me for next time too, but that never happened I'm done with this place. read more

A Co-Worker and I treated ourselves to a mani/pedi yesterday as a little holiday treat. Neither one of us were impressed with the service nor our nails. The lady helping me even gave me a dirty look when I asked her to remove the left over paint from the skin on my toes. I offered to do it for her as she seemed busy but she did not take me up on my offer.... Both services were rushed and I was not even offered paraffin wax and my co-worker had to ask for it. Needless to say, neither one of us will be returning. read more

Great little salon in Sonoma. We wanted to get our nails done last minute and everywhere else said they were booked up. Based on the ratings we weren't sure what to expect. When we walked in, it looked very nice and we were greeted by extremely friendly people. The receptionist is incredible and remembered everyone (even those who said they hadn't been in for months) by name. Our nail techs were friendly too and did a great and fast job on our manicures. They used the equivalent polish of 3 coats with their 2 coats so our nails looked like gel without being gel and lasted for weeks. If we are back in Sonoma, we are coming here every time! read more

This place used to be amazing! However not so much anymore. I live in Sonoma and visit Maxwell nails a couple times a year. I love the hot rocks they use for the pedicure massage. The staff is super friendly other than the owner. She's just rude not just to her customers but also to her employees and most employees have been working for her for 10+ years. If your looking for a quick nail job this place will do but expect to be rushed and not relaxed. read more

Update: Stars downgraded from 3 to 1 -- After a difficult time taking off the "clear coat" my nails on one hand are rough with many knicks and scratches from the removal of the shellac using the electric drimmel. The other hand that the device wasn't used on was left with a much smoother surface. Unfortunately it will take quite some time to repair my nailbeds. I am very disappointed. If only the manicurist would have taken time to provide me with high quality service rather than rushing through because it was the end of the day and more people were waiting. Definitely not returning to this salon. Not a great experience, will probably be the last time I go there. Went to have shellac taken off and get a regular manicure with a buff shine. Shellac was taken off then I was told she can't buff my nails because they are too thin now. So she applied a "clear coat" which is really a sheer pink. I'm ok with that, except that less than 24 hours later it's already chipping and taking layers of my already thin nails with it. I also don't appreciate that I was charged extra to have shellac taken off without the additional charge being listed on their price board. read more

I used to love coming here but then I showed up with my friend, we settled into our chairs to enjoy our pedicures and got to chatting. Pretty soon we noticed the workers in front of us would look at me, chuckle and then talk about me amongst themselves. This went on for awhile. I wish I had asked them what was so funny. It made me so uncomfortable that I haven't returned. I gave them two stars because they actually do a great job, but enter at your own risk of possibly being made fun of in front of you. read more

Sadly, my quest for a steady nail salon continues... Pros: GREAT massage chairs, really nice staff, excellent foot massage, clean salon, etc... Cons: the oldest, most boring magazine collection I've encountered since my last doctor's appointment (not that big of a deal), THINNED OUT NAIL POLISH (GRR!!) that left my toenails looking super tacky . Unfortunately, I chose a dark red color that ended up looking awful: watery, transparent patches all over, etc.... Why Maxwell Nails, WHY? Just throw the polish out when it gets old and goopy; don't thin it out. What did it cost? Two dollars wholesale?? Your customers deserve better. read more

Not really a fan. I wanted to like this place because it's close to my work and convenient but the service just wasn't worth it. I went on a lunch break and was disappointed by the quality of what I got. I asked the lady to trim my toe nails and she basically cut them down to the skin which I was not happy about. The paint job was sub-par and they massaged my legs for about 1 minute and the salon itself isn't very relaxing. I have a usual place I go and pay the same amount for a 10 minute leg massage and the people who work there are amazing at all types of nail services so I think I'll stick with that. read more

I came here with my bridemaids before my wedding. This place is busy and seriously non-stop busy. Even though it's busy, I didn't think they compromised on the quality of work. At least we didn't feel rushed. Cleaniness - it's OK clean. It's at least you should expect for a nail salon. However, I sat next to the restroom and the smell did come out whenever someone opens the restroom door. The towels they used were OK clean. It's a Vietnamese joint so I would'nt be nip-picking the quality. Efficiency - there was a 10-kids birthday party before us and we got 7 girls altogether. We got in at 1:30pm (they were nice enough to take us 30 minutes before the appointed time), and left at 4:00'ish pm. During that time, the chairs and tables were never empty - it was busy. Salon - no decor and no nothing. You wouldn't feel being pampered while here. Technicians - they are nice and friendly. But this does not say much about the experience. Quality of work - the quality of work was not bad. I did a french and I like how it looked, except for that I did like the pink polish used on the nail. But it was my bad, I should have said something Problem - the problem came 1 week after I got the nails done. I needed a polish change. However, I was not able to remove anything off the nail. I went to another salon and the lady asked me what kind of nail polish was it on my nails? It freaked me out because the thing just glued on my nails and it took a long time to take it off. The new manicurist has to pretty much filed the polish off which must have done some damage to my nail. It's been another week and I am not able to do any polish because I thought I should let my nail breathe a bit. I definitely will not come back since I don't live in Sonoma. If you have a big bridal party, you can consider this place because they are fast and can handle large group. read more

I have been going here for a while up until last year when I started exploring other nail salons. Why they charge $27 for a pedicure is a mystery when the standard price is still $25. In a pinch the other day when my new go-to place was fully booked I came here. The chair they put me in was broken, the remote on the chair looked like a dog had chewed it up. The water was shallow and cold (they did ask about the temp and warmed it up). As I sat there looking around I noticed how filthy and run down the place was. The person doing my nails was friendly but rough. When I left I noticed blood around my big toe. Thats it for me. I will not be going back - even in a pinch. read more

I only came because my other local favorite was closed on a Monday. I left with a dent in my shellac, which was somehow my fault before I had even left the chair, towels in my lap, and was rushed out the door. Needless to say, I probably won't be coming back. Although they seem very friendly and connected to their regulars. Service seems to be sacrificed when they're busy. read more

Great selection of colors and the price for services isn't bad either. Unfortunately my spa chair was broken so there was no back massaging. Also my foot massage was actually just someone half heartedly rubbing my legs. I suppose I could have asked for more foot but didn't feel I should have to. read more

There aren't many good places in Sonoma to get nails done. The shop is comfortable, clean and friendly. The quality of manicures and pedicures are not the best. If I had more choices this would not be a top choice. There are many better places in Santa Rosa and Petaluma. read more
