We went to the day-use area which features one .75 mile trail into the woods, as well as a pathway along one side of Bayou. The trail was nice, flat and full of shade. I learned a lot about the local plants. Bayou/Lake very scenic. the bathroom also was maintained and clean. A great little side trip!

The day area restrooms were closed but there was one for guests to use at the ranger station. They were also renovating the camp sites so all of the trails in the back of the park were closed. The one open trail was only .75 miles so we did a few laps and walked along the bayou for some steps. I would like to return when the trails are open and see the rest of the park.

Its my go to beach after a long day at school or a place to let the kids roam free for a few hours…read morebefore dinner and bed routine, even though its not the blue waters of seaside or the typical expectations of destin beaches I go because its on base and its convenient. I wish the base would take more time to clean the sand but its also the people who use it, the military folks who should at least throw their trash in the trash cans and no use the sand as the cigarette ash tray. When we're lucky I don't have to deal with any of that, the plus is that there's hermit crabs to catch, its pretty much waist deep for people with little ones for a good 4 feet away from the shore, sometimes you'll see dolphins in the bay swimming by, and the waves aren't too strong that you're worried about a rip current taking your family away. It's used a lot for squadron functions and parties so keep in mind, first come first serve.

Lots of people and families. I love that some times you can see dolphins swimming in the water. Sooo fun! It's not an ocean beach but is still fun! Rent a kayak or standup paddle board and have yourself a great time, just watch out for dolphins :-)

Morris Hines was way more intrested in making a New Sale then honoring the agreements of past owners. I MEAN WHY CARE THEY ALREADY PAY DUES. also he acted as if it was someone else whos policy or actions and decisions that stopped the owner from being able to sell the ownership. Which was straight BS. The boat club owner said he had no problem as long as the Sales Director Morris Hines was okay with it. My opinion if thats how they take care of existing owners why would they treat me any different Beware!!!

I reserved and rented a bounce house for my child's birthday party, I did this two weeks ahead of time, which should've been ample time for Eglin outdoor rec to ensure the bounce house was good to go. Instead, I arrived on my daughters party day, and the trailer hauling the bounce house, is broken to the point that it is not safely usable, instead, I end up waiting for 30 minutes for the supervisor, Curt Hahn, to show up just to make sure that there will be no issues with us, putting it in the back of the truck. From there I expressed my frustrations that this is very unprofessional for a military outdoor rec, he then proceeds to make excuse after excuse taking no ownership as the supervisor of the facility. I then say I just need to get home because the party begins soon, I asked if we get it to my house and it is, like the trailer, broken would I be able to return it for a refund where he tells me that if we leave the facility with it it is our responsibility and will be charged if it is broken, despite the fact everything broken was supposed to have been checked by the employees after the last return and all this is still broken. After some back-and-forth, he then threatens to call security forces and have me escorted off the base... I live on the installation as an active duty technical sergeant. He eventually agrees to send an employee to my residence to ensure that it is functional with no issues after a lot of heated conversation. I was my first rental from Eglin Outdoor Rex and will absolutely be my last!
