She was pretty nervous in the beginning, but the staff was very patient with her, made her feel comfortable, and kept guiding her throughout the class. The best part was that within about 15 minutes, she came running over to me and said, "I want to get enrolled!" That pretty much made the decision for us, so we signed her up right after the trial. They also gave us 50% off the registration fee since we enrolled right after the trial, which was a nice bonus. It was great seeing her go from being nervous to actually wanting to stay and continue. We're excited for her to start classes and see how she grows and builds confidence along the way. So far, a really great first experience!

Master Mike was the only one I felt really understood the goals for my son. From the 1st day we walked in the door everyone was so welcoming and encouraging with him. He has come a long way and truly earned every stripe and belt graduation. We can go as many nights a week we want and Saturday mornings. It is truly a fantastic school.

I wanted to join a place that kept me motivated to keep coming back. The instructors here at Hybrid do just that. Each class we learn something new and the instructors make sure that we are doing the moves correctly, thus not injuring ourselves. Mr Mike teaches most of the classes and he's great! Very energetic and passionate about his craft. He helps get you sweating those pounds off in the short and quick 50min classes. In a few months, I dropped a dress size and lost about 15 pounds! The option to go Mon thru Sat is awesome too and the schedule is accommodating to the busy-bee. The other members that go there are friendly and cheer each other on, so there is a lot of support. We all have a good time staying in shape, learning new things, and improving on what we know! Sign up for a few classes and give it a shot!

Being a local I was excited to sign up my children for this school, Unfortunately, first-hand…read moreexperiences and experiences shared by others parents suggest that this particular academy may not fully meet those expectations in fostering a family-friendly atmosphere. Several parents, including myself, have observed behaviors that raise concerns about the academy's approach to student inclusion and instruction. For instance, the strict policy of not allowing children to participate if they arrive late regardless of individual circumstances such as mobility challenges can be discouraging and exclusionary. Such rigidity may overlook the diverse needs of children and hinder their opportunity to engage fully in the learning process. Moreover, there have been instances where instructors appeared to neglect certain children, providing no proper guidance or support. This inconsistency in attention and instruction can impact the overall quality of education and the students' experience, potentially affecting their enthusiasm and progress. In conclusion, we had found a more appropriate school for our children outside of town.

Pat is friendly but yet instills discipline with the kids and most importantly, he keeps it fun. My son really enjoys the classes with Pat, he looks forward to going to class, whereas in the past with a different martial art, he dreaded and hated it. He takes a lot of pride in it when we talk about what he did in class with my wife. Too bad our schedule only permits 2 days a week, he would enjoy going more often had our schedule permitted. And the best part about BJJ is that it's very effective to defend himself from bullies without needing to hurt anyone should one day he needs to. For myself, everyone welcomed me with open arms on my first class. I'm in my early 40's so I'm a bit out of shape, but the guys at the gym are very encouraging and friendly. Can't say enough about Pat and his gym.

I already left a…read moregoogle review some months back :) We can't say enough good things about Tiger Schulmann's Mixed Martial Marts. When our son was seven, he was having a really tough time at school. Almost every day after pickup, he would tell us about being pushed around. At one point, another child even put his hands around his neck. The school's response was limited, and it was clear our son didn't yet have the confidence or skills to stand up for himself. Enrolling him at Tiger Schulmann's North Plainfield location turned out to be a life-changing decision. From day one, they created a fun, yet structured, and safe environment where he could grow. Over time, we saw a real transformation. He developed confidence that others could see, a stronger sense of self-assurance, and most importantly, the ability to make smart decisions in difficult situations. He learned that self-defense isn't just physical, it's also about knowing when to use verbal de-escalation versus a convincing front kick. That balance was huge for us as parents. it's not just about fighting, it's about judgment and control. Within just a few months, the daily stories about recess incidents stopped. It truly felt like he had turned a new page. A special thank you to Sensei Holland and Sensei Querido for the care, attention, and mentorship they gave our son. Their impact goes far beyond martial arts. We're incredibly grateful.
