In September 2026, I accompanied a friend to Max Quality Auto to look at a 2024 Mitsubishi listed at $13,600.
We wanted a third-party pre-purchase inspection. The dealer required a $5,000 deposit before letting us take the car off the lot. My friend was charged $3,000, and I was charged $2,000.
The inspection found a long list of problems. I asked the inspector: so is this car worth $3,000? He said: "Don't spend any money on it." We returned the car the same day and told them we weren't buying. The dealer promised a refund within 7-10 days, to our faces.
What followed was over two weeks of silence. My friend's text messages went unanswered. When I sent a written demand, the reply was that he had no details on my deposit, couldn't do anything about it, and I should call and ask for a manager. After my formal notice, all he did was note it down and pass it to "the management team."
No refund date. No confirmation of refund. Not a single apology throughout. As of October 13, 2026--20 days after we returned the car--I still have not received my $2,000 refund.
I have filed a chargeback with my bank. It can take months to finalize, and the dealer suffers no real loss. The worst outcome for them is simply returning money that was mine to begin with.
That's why they can do this to me--and they can do it to you, too.
Two pieces of advice for anyone thinking of buying here:
1. Get a third-party inspection. Without one, you could drive home an overpriced lemon thinking you got a deal. I don't know how many of those five-star reviewers ever got a third-party inspection.
2. Don't assume they'll make the inspection easy. They'll charge a hefty deposit up front -- and you'll have to fight tooth and nail to get it back.
Conclusion: don't even go to this dealer. Unless you are prepared to struggle just trying to get your deposit back -- MAX PAIN! read more
