I came into Mavis in Yorktown Heights needing quite a bit done--an inspection, new wipers, four tires, an alignment, and I also had a concern about a rattling sound coming from underneath my car. From start to finish, Paul took care of everything and made the entire experience feel easy and stress-free. He was respectful, patient, and actually listened. I never felt rushed or talked over, which already sets this place apart. What really stood out, though, was the honesty. Don't make appointments at this location because they always have a tendency to cancel on you last minute. As I spend a lot of time out of state due to work, I have to come to New York once a year to get an inspection done. As this location is in my hometown, I picked this one because it is close by. Last year when I came for a visit, I made an appointment with this location, and they confirmed my appointment over the phone the day before. The next morning, 15 minutes before the appointment, they called to tell me that they were too busy and were not going to be able to accommodate me that day. I don't see why they would be confirming appointments with people if they can see that they had took on too much work. As I was leaving town the next morning, I had to get it done that day. Thankfully, the location in Cortlandt Manor was able to take me on short notice. Earlier last week, I called and asked if an inspector will be in, as I was due for another one and was planning a trip to Yorktown. They not only confirmed that he will be there, but I made an appointment and they even called the day before to confirm it. When I walked in at my scheduled time, they said that the inspector is not in and they would not be able to do the inspection. They did not even attempt to call or notify me, but instead they showed me their computer screen that had a note that there was no inspector in, as if I have access to their system from home and should've seen it before coming in. They sent me to another Mavis in Carmel, which is an additional 26 minutes away. If I had known it was this far, I would have just went to the one in Cortlandt Manor again. That one has always been able to accommodate me after my appointments at the Yorktown location get canceled last minute. The staff at the Carmel Hamlet location is also very friendly and were able to accommodate me on short notice. If you are going to make an appointment at this Yorktown location, expect for it to get canceled and have a backup plan in case that happens. Or, save the hassle and just go to any other location that doesn't pull this. read more

Avoid if you can. dropped my van from the lift and did the damage to the bottom frame. changed the brakes and rotors in the other car. the same day the breaks started to make noise. when I came back they were close to closing, totally ignored my complaint. didn't even want to listen to the noise and tell me if this is safe enough to wait until the next day. Now I came with the nail in the tire. waiting here almost an hour for "tire specialist". when I asked the front desk if he is coming or not, they tell me the guy just had to go to hospital and they called another "tire specialist" who will come soon. person at the desk (Christian) behaves as his work here is his punishment. ridiculous place. During a recent visit to the Mavis location in Yorktown Heights to get four new tires, Mavis scratched my door and bent my gas cap. It appeared that someone either leaned into or hit the gas cap, pushing it in and bending the hinge. When I brought the scratch to the attention of one of the managers, he claimed to be reviewing the security footage to see what happened. However, instead of actually checking the footage, he spent the entire time texting on his phone. They also assured me they would call back after checking the cameras, but they never did. To make matters worse, they left all my tires overinflated to 50 psi, significantly higher than the factory-recommended 32 psi, putting my vehicle at risk of a blowout. read more

The Manager says they apologize for the inconvenience when my family and I could have been badly injured because of Mavis negligence. The person working on my brakes did not to the job right and my brakes went right to the floor, and I could not stop the car from hitting another vehicle. They took my money and never even offered any compensation or repairs. I strongly recommend no one else should go to this place for repairs, especially brakes. read more

Made an appointment for a NY inspection. Was there on time but it was probably about an hour before the inspection even started. Biggest issue was that they went into my car and moved the seats around. One of those seats had my one year old's infant car seat, which had one of the two latches delatch. This meant that her infant car seat could move while driving, offering her little to no protection. I didn't notice this issue until after going on a drive with her as latches aren't checked after every drive since they only come off if someone messes with the latches or moves the seat and I hadn't touched either of them. This was incredibly unsafe as the infant seat can easily shift while driving with one latch on and one latch off. Needless to say, I was not happy that my daughter's safety was put at risk and they couldn't even warn me beforehand to relatch it. I called and spoke with the manager who was indignant, spoke over me, told me I was wasting his time, and that the whole situation was "retarded" right before he hung up on me. Aside from being annoyed that I dare accuse them of doing this, it seemed he couldn't care less. He denied everything, saying he'd have no reason to go to the back of the car, yet I'm 100% positive the middle seat in the back was moved backwards since it wasn't in the original position when I dropped off the car. All he could muster was an "I don't know" for that, but it seems if it moved you must have been in the back despite you saying it didn't happen. Terrible customer service, terrible attitude, and terrible experience. Will never be back again. read more

This Mavis in Yorktown has gone through personnel changes but this crew is the worse. I've brought my cars there all the time batteries brakes oil changes brake exchanges with multiple cars. I took a shot we are a consortium of fabricators and car buffs so we do a lot of biz with you and other car and tire outlets. First of all I walk in their is a paint can brushes some sort of tarp laying in the corner where the tires are. Who wants to be near that. But that's not the thing. You have a guy at the counter no one there on the phone I'm standing there I'm standing there I'm standing there. Nothing I get a fast call and end it I'm still standing there mind you no one's there just me! Nothing. I walk out I should of just left. I pulled my car outside to the last bay saw a mechanic and I said to him when you get a chance ofcourse when your done with the car please tell the desk they lost a 1000 bucks I was there to buy either cross tracks or perillies all of a sudden a white hit that looked like he just woke up had a beard like a goat had with a rubber band in it says GO GO WE ARE NOT HOUNG TO HAVE YELLING THTOUGH THE WINDOW. I admit it might if looked like that but it wasn't. No calm down how can I help you. Just GO I SAID IM GOING. THEN THIS POS SAYS ' your still here. Then the ponytail desk guy comes out and said I didn't say anything to you because you were on the phone. I was standing there for awhile before I got a 5 second call then I was off I told him. He even told me what I was saying in the phone. This is bad two ways. One- he's Eavesdropping on my convo and Two- he was not so preoccupied with the phone call like he said. You should just say excuse me I'll be with you. He didn't acknowledge my resistance. Idk what the hell he's doing or what's going on. I think I'm the customer. The mechanic with the beard was way out of line. So was the desk jockey. This has to be the worse personnel Mavis Yorktown has ever had.it reflects in the countless bad reviews on your site and yelp. I will admit the talking through the window to that mechanic cuz I was hot might of looked wrong I admit it. But your personnel handle customers horribly. heard my brakes grinding on a Saturday afternoon. I called around 3pm and they told me to head over even though they were closing in a couple hours. They took my car in right away, as the tech was assessing, Junior checked to make sure they had my parts in stock. Within minutes they were showing me what was needed. New rear rotors and brake pads and it was done within 20 minutes! Very pleased I was able to get this fixed so quickly, especially on the weekend. read more

They tried calling me after this experience to attempt to make it up to me and said they could "maybe" refund me for my tire patch but not for the $90 tire sensor which they overcharged me for and intentionally damaged (Had it installed at the Cortlandt Manor Mavis and then they negligently or intentionally damaged it at the Yorktown Mavis). i apparently had two different leaks in my tire in the Same week. Brought it to mavis in rocky point twice . they said it was two nail holes in the Same tire a week apart. well guess what it's still leaking the next day. so I brought it to Matt's one stop and guess what they made up the leaks to plug two holes in the tire that didn't have a leak because in fact it wasn't the tire that was leaking but the stem. Quick fix. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy there. they don't stand behind there work. Brad is a complete moron. read more

I got a flat at 4:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon and Mavis closes at 5:00 pm. I got the spare on as fast as I could and only had 5 minutes to get to Mavis in Yorktown before they closed. I didn't want to speed with a donut on the car, so I called and spoke to Ed Hugger. Mr. Hugger asked when I would be there, he created the ticket for my tire to be patched or replaced the following day, and he told me to drive safe and that he would wait for me. I got there a few minutes after the store closed, and there was Ed, waiting for me. I was so thankful just to be able to get the tire there so they could order a new one if it could not be repaired. I would have been thrilled with that outcome, but instead, after taking a look at the tire, Ed said he could patch it and that if I didn't mind it waiting, he would do it right then. I offered to come back the next day so Ed could get home, but he insisted that he could fix it quickly and that it was no trouble. Ed patched the tire, cleaned the inside of my rim a bit, and put it back on my car for me. I assume Ed is a supervisor because he was the only employee still there while he did all of this. All in all, he stayed an extra 35 minutes with me after closing and got me back on the road. I'm sure he was there a few minutes longer to close up the store. I had a bad experience at Mavis in Mahopac a few years ago and I haven't used any Mavis location since. I was in a jam today, and Mavis in Yorktown, Ed Huggers specifically, were such a huge help. Mavis in Yorktown will have my business going forward because of the way Ed treated me. He went above and beyond, all with a smile on his face on a Saturday evening when he should have been driving home. I highly recommend this Mavis location. Thank you Ed. read more

This afternoon I noticed my tire pressure low on one tire and decided to stop at Mavis in Yorktown where I buy my tires. They took my car in within reasonable amount of time since so many others were there for pot hole damage and other problems. They checked my tires and diagnosed a nail in the tire. Brought to my attention that my rear tires are in need of replacement which my recent inspection pointed out. Johnathan and the manager and mechanics/technicians were very courteous and helpful. They fixed my tire and suggested I make a future appointment for new tires. No Charge for this repair. Very nice! I appreciate the service. Janine L read more

I don't like going to Mavis but my regular garage is only open during the week and I was in a bind and needed an oil change. A different Mavis did an oil change a couple years back and forgot to put on the oil cap and oil spilled all over my 45 min commute. I was hesitant to use the company again. This Mavis did the oil change and when I got home (10-15 min) my car smelled horrible and smoke was coming from the engine. I called and they said to come in. They anticipated it was the "oil filter location being too close to the catalytic converter". So I had to inconveniently drive my smoking engine car back to them so they could "clean it". So again, my oil change ended up in a mess and huge inconvenience. I will never ever use another Mavis again. The trying to upsell things I didn't want or need and then this with no compensation was a last straw. I will gladly take a half day off of work to go to my garage next time. The manager was nice but didn't do anything to keep me as a customer. Never again. read more

I was late renewing my New York State inspection and couldn't find any place where I could make an appointment and wait for it to be done. On the Mavis website you're able to make an appointment for a specific time. So, I took advantage of that and immediately after booking I received a phone call from Mavis to confirm. I arrived at Mavis at the appointment time and was told it would be a several hour wait. When I questioned why that would be the case if I had an appointment they said appointments mean nothing. I took my business elsewhere, Especially when I needed to brand new run flat tires two weeks later. read more

Horrible experience. Unprofessional staff. Brought my car in for an Inspection. Was told they couldn't pass it due to 2 tires needing to be replaced but they weren't in stock. I told them to order the tires and they said they would be in store in a couple of hours so I asked to be called when they arrived and I would bring the car back in. They called and said the tires were in and they would take care of it. I went back, they put the car on a lift and, after an hour of waiting, was told that they couldn't find the tires and they possibly didn't even come in! I asked how that could even be the case and was told that they would continue to look for them. After 2 hours, they finally got the tires and installed them but never did the alignment they were also supposed to be doing. I told them they were completely incompetent and to just give me the bill for installing the tires and doing the inspection. Never going to this location again. read more

Stopped by around 1:30, without an appointment, to replace all four tires a couple days ago when I was in Yorktown on business. I mentioned to Chris, the salesman up front, that I was headed upstate and would like to get back on the road by 3:30 if possible. Chris spoke to the man in charge (sorry, forgot his name) of the garage and he thought he could get me done around then. There were a few cars there already and they were still able to get me on the road by 4:00. Chris was great! Professional and personable from start to finish. Explained everything to me and set me up with a set of Hankook tires. As soon as I hit the road I felt the difference. A smooth quite ride. Couldn't be happier with my experience there. Oh, and there was a Mavis Wi-Fi connection so I was able to do some work while I was waiting. read more

Always used Mavis for several years. This time they claimed a bolt hole in a hub was stripped. Since only Mavis has ever mounted tires on this vehicle it is their fault. They tell me to go buy a new hub. No responsibility on their part. Bad news that I will in the future go to Town Fair. To add insult to injury they left grease all over my steering wheel. I was in need of a new tire for an Audi with all wheel drive. Quite frankly, this was the third place I tried and everyone said the same thing, "well sir, for an all wheel drive car, you have to replace all 4 tires". I think that's ridiculous and I can't afford to do that so I agree to replace 2 tires on the same axle and worry about the consequences. Anyway, the first place a) didn't answer their phone half the times I called and b) told me the tires I had on the car were discontinued and made no effort to find a replacement. Called another local store with the "lowest" prices, then tried here and they were lower by about $40 a tire. I showed up later than I should have (my fault) and was told it would be 2 1/2 hours. I explained that I couldn't wait that long because my daughter was playing in a lacrosse tournament and I had to beat feet in a lot less time than that. Anyway to cut to the chase, I was done in and hour and a half and had plenty of time to get to the tournament. In the interest in full disclosure, they REALLY wanted me to have a "free" alignment check. I know hat would have resulted in "needing" an alignment. With the condition of the roads here, you probably need an alignment every week. I firmly refused that free service. . read more

I called to see if it would be a good time to come in for a rotation, alignment, and inspection. They said it was a little slow, so it would be perfect. I showed up 15 minutes later and they told me that it would be about 90 minutes. It was a little less, so I was thrilled. The rotation was free because I bought the tires at Mavis, the inspection is obviously standard rate, and then they gave me a coupon for the alignment without me even asking for it! Not very honest. Wife came in to replace her car battery. No other option was offered and was up sold a battery for $150. Come to find out a battery for her vehicle would have cost $70 at BJ's with installation. Called Mavis back to see about returning the battery the same day and no returns on batteries once installed. Five hours wait. Dropped my car off at 9am and I had an appointment. Told them I would be walking around town while I waited and they quoted me a two hour completion. I was getting an inspection and tires put on. After 2.5 hours I went back to the waiting room since it was so hot outside. No magazines so I watched tv. At the four hour stage and several inquiries later, I started talking to a fellow customer. Found out that his appointment was at 11 and he was done before me! They were very polite but I won't be going there again. There is no reason to ignore my car for two hours and then take someone else! So angry that I wasted my day. Plus, none of my tires are the same psi. They range from 41 to 35. read more

Have been coming here for years and years. Made an appointment on Wednesday for an inspection the following day at 8 AM, by phone at the Yorktown location directly (962 number). Arrived on time, was told there was no appt showing and that their 'morning guy' who does inspections wasn't coming in. Told to come back at 7:45 the next morning, which I dutifully did. First in the queue for an inspection. After waiting an HOUR, was told that "the guy is running late and hasn't shown up yet." I left and went up to Valvoline on Route 6. They took my car w/in 10 minutes. Mavis in Yorktown doesn't seem to be the place it has always been. Everyone was very polite, but things seem a bit 'less than'. Had the worst experience with a customer service representative at Yorktown Mavis named Jay and poor repair on my Lexus. My car tire was on fire and smoked up my garage due to a negligent repair. At 3:30 I noticed that my car still wasn't in the bay to be worked on and cars that came in after me were already being worked on. The employees at the desk claim that an appointment only means that the car will be worked at some point during the day. They said that they were busy and that my car would be ready in another 1.5 hours. This was never conveyed to me when I left my keys at the desk at 2:00. We normally go to the Mavis in Mount Kisco. Because I live a 5 min walk from this Yorktown Heights location, I thought I'd support my "local" location. I called yesterday (Saturday) to ask if they would be open today (Sunday) for an oil change and they said "yes, 9am come on in and we'll take care of you. The gentleman sounded very nice. Come today, I walk in and there were two men talking to the one man working behind the counter. Well, I stood there just waiting to be acknowledged. A nod, a "hi, I'll be right with you", or even just a smile!! I didn't get any of that. I stood there for 5 minutes just waiting and listening to their conversation, nothing to do with any service Mavis provides! Instead I learned about their careers. One man was an attorney "civil dealing with personal property" and the other gentleman a Vice President in charge of contracts and has to commute everyday to the city, Bronx or Brooklyn (can't remember which one). The man working behind the counter just said "well I just work in the private sector". I continued to stand there just waiting. They all even looked at me a couple of times and just kept talking to each other!!! I LITERALLY looked at my phone to see how long before the one man working behind the counter would just ACKNOWLEDGE ME! Perhaps I should've just joined their conversation and shared that I am thankfully recovering from 2 brain surgeries in 2 months and I'm also a VP handling $20 million businesses! I finally let out a big sigh and turned to walk out the door. NOT EVEN THEN did the man say anything to stop me or acknowledge that I was walking out the door! I sat outside in my car and called the Mount Kisco location and spoke with Debbie and asked her if I could be accommodated there because NOT ONE person even acknowledged me inside YH. God help me for trying to use the location in MY COMMUNITY. I would've waited until you finished your conversation and sat down next to the African American man sitting in your lobby reading the paper waiting for his car, if you would've just ACKNOWLEDGED ME! I was ready to pay for $130 oil change and order 4 Kelly tires from your site to have it delivered there $800. Instead I did the oil change at Mount Kisco and will now always go there for Mavis services. I know you're all connected but the point is, learn to acknowledge your customers, especially those who live steps away from your location who want to help keep the business local! The last time i brought my car here for new brake pads i asked if they were going to give me quality pads they lied told me they were and gave me terrible pads that squeaked for miles and they were put on wrong as well. Also when i came to pick up the car there were scrapes and dents in my trunk that were not there when i dropped off the car ended up having to buy a weather strip just to hide the damage.
