After the tires were install they add on things like $30 for 4 valve steams and old tires disposed of was to be free they charged $14. Even the tire I wanted was switched to a more expensive one. I stopped at Mavis (near Shop Rite) to check my tires. I was impressed with their honesty. I was told I won't need new tires until after 2 more rotations. I asked him to check the tire pressure sensor because it wasn't working. The front left tire sensor needed to be replaced. Made an appointment to get 4 tires put on my vehicle at noon. Was told it would take at least 3 hours. I explained on the phone the day before that I was on lunch and was limited on time, they said 1 and a half hours tops. What is reasoning for making an appointment if they can't stick to the appointment time? Asked for my deposit back and they said it would take 2-3 weeks, again why? Called their customer service line and they couldn't help. Why have a customer service line? You would think they would want to be customer friendly but they didn't want to help in any way...I mean 3 hours to put on 4 tires, no wonder they have a 2.5 rating. I found a nail on the passenger side tire at the air station, I couldn't reach any family member or friends, so I went to the Mavis discount tire because I replaced my tires there 2 years ago. One guy in the shop came told me that the tire is not fixable, it's better to replace 2 tires together. I don't have much knowledge of cars, so I agreed. I went to take a picture of the tire and sent to my husband who was a truck driver and still out on his trip. He replied my call and told me that the tire looks fixable, and he would ask his mechanic. i called to setup an appointment for an alignment on a front wheel drive Honda which should be quick and easy. I told them I was gonna be waiting for the car and was given a couple of time slot choices for later the same day as well as AM & PM the next day. I set up the "appointment " for the next day but the Mavis rep wouldn't take my name and number as one would expect when setting an appointment. He just gave me his name and insisted it would be okay. When I arrived at the appointment time, I was told there was a long wait and they had no appointment or person with the same name as the rep I spoke to the day before. I summarized the situation and was told they had a call center that probably took my call. I explained that I had confirmed which location I was calling and that the rep stated he would be at the location all day. when they could not accommodate me I requestEd an appointment time for the next day based upon my need to wait for the car. The offered amongst other appointmen times 10 AM. I'm writing this review while waiting for my car to be taken into a service bay to begin the alignment - it's 11:20AM and they have only now taken my car in. This was after I spoke with the Mavis desk rep and asked what's the point of having an appointment? Why did they offer me a time slot based upon the other work scheduled for other customers??? after all they offered me the time slot and I could have come in at a different time if necessary??? I've run into similar situations like this at other Mavis locations and the person I spoke with was on site and apparently the manager. I suspect that the person I spoke to at the start was actually there but did not want to take responsibility or perhaps the call center reps use a fictional person to escape accountability or doing whatever data entry needed to book the appointment. Perhaps, Mavis' undisclosed policy concerning appointments is to overbook or simply pay attention to the day a vehicle is scheduled to come in. in my situation its especially annoying bc the first blown appointment was the day before and I specifically stated I needed to wait but was open to their time slot recommendations. if you use Mavis, plan on being there a long time no matter what the circumstances. The worst. They have people changing tires with no experience or care, prepare to wait for 4 hours or more for 4 tires, even with an appt. Despite telling them multiple times not to touch my alignment, where did my car end up? Right on their alignment rack. And when they took it off, guess what?? My alignment is now messed up. Went for a flat tire. It needed replacing. The other tires were running out of tread so I said replace them all. They tried to tell me I needed new brakes. The brakes were replaced last year and only drove about 5k miles since. Then they tried to get me to pay for an alignment, however my car drives fine. When I got home I went over the bill and saw they charged me for an extended warranty that I did not request. I went back and they refused to remove it. I'll be taking that up with my cc company. I came to Mavis after I got a flat. I had hit a really bad pothole and they said they would order me a tire and put it on for me. They had failed to mention my rim was cracked... fast forward to the inevitable second flat on the same tire they then informed me that my rim was cracked and that I had to buy a rim elsewhere. (I would have to bring them the rim because I bought the warranty for the tire.) After just over $600 in repairs and two weeks without my car I thought everything was over. But my car just didn't run the same, I couldn't go over 55mph without my car violently shaking. So after a few hundred miles of this I finally took my car to two different mechanics to figure out that the tire they replaced was "seriously unbalanced." On the day that I picked up my car the second time, I called beforehand to make sure my car would be ready. They told me that my car would be ready in 10 minutes, so I took the 15 minute drive to Mavis and they told me my car wouldn't be ready for another hour. So I had to wait for over an hour past their closing time to pick up my car. I understand that the pandemic affects this, but I would have understood if they had just told me right from the beginning that my car wasn't going to be ready. Instead I watched someone buy four new tires and they put them right on, guy was there for probably 30 minutes max. Very unprofessional, overall extremely negative experience. This was not the first review I wrote on Mavis. I don't know if I wrote it in google review or trip advisor or here. My first review was outstanding and that's why my whole;e family went to Mavis for the past 3+ years now. The below is regarding my oil change experience today, July 13, 2020. The mechanic PRIED OPEN the front driver side skid plate on m GX 470 to access the oil filter. He should have taken the plate off. The reason I found out is that when I made a right turn, I heard a loud grating sound because the wheel was hitting the skid plate that was pried open and was never returned back to how it was. Also, there was a lot of oil that spilled on the skid plate which was never cleaned. If the technician did a messy short cut in my oil change, what other potentially dangerous or damaging short cuts does he do? That was just lazy & unprofessional. I had good experiences with Mavis before, my whole family goes to Mavis for a good 3+ years now. I returned my car right away as soon I as I found out what the problem was (in the Mavis parking lot). The skid plate was bent back so it does not hit the wheel when I turn right. The tech also cleaned the oil spill from the skid plate. Would I go back to this Mavis? Maybe they deserve another chance. Hello all. I do not recommend going to any Mavis. They are theirs. First off I brought my vehicle in to service a shaky steering wheel in point pleasant NJ. After 1400$ it was still shaky and now had a turned steering wheel. They asked that I bring it in to another Mavis. I went to Egg harbor twp and they said there alignment machine is broken. They said I must go to another Mavis. I went to Somers point and they bad mouthed the first and second Mavis. John and Markus from Somers point NJ said they have to fix all other Mavis's mistakes. They charged me another 600$ because they said my axel was bad. Now I had a shaky wheel turned steering wheel and a thumping sound. They said bring it back. That night I broke down. I got a ride home since it was 10 pm. The Police towed my vehicle to another shop other than Mavis wile I was home which was 300$. The other shop said the same axel I just replace needed replaced and it would be 600$. I had to get this done because the car was not operable. I called the 1 800 number over and over for weeks and finally got Shawn who is the regional manager. This took 2 weeks to get a return call. I had to call every three days until someone called his cell phone. Shawn asked that I return the bad axel to the somer point location and I would get a refund. I asked the new shop for the part and they gave it to me. I retuned it as Shawn asked. After a week of no refund I began to call for Shawn again. A week later someone called his cell phone again and he said I don't get a refund because I had a warrantee. Shawn said I should have only came back to him for the repair. I explained the towing situation and I returned the part to his somer point location. 1 month later no refund and they happily took back my axel which they retuned to get even more profit from me. So after $2900 plus they returned my bad axel, the new shop noticed the shakiness was a bad tire. They will steal from you. read more

I came to get my oil changed and tires balanced and rotated. As soon as he looked at my car in the lot not on a lift I was told I needed two new front tires. Not too long after I was told I should get 4 new tires. I bought the tires that were on the vehicle from this same store just over a year ago and they had approximately 13k miles on them. The worker said if my alignment wasn't off these "entry level tires" would've been fine still. I decided to get a second opinion and just get the oiled changed and nothing else. I came to pick up the car over an hour after their estimated pick up time. It was over $95 to get my Prius oil changed. I didn't even get out of the complex and noticed that 3 dash lights were on that were not on when I dropped it off. I brought it back and advised them of this. I then noticed one of my lug nuts was also missing from my back driver side tire. The worker, Mike, said they were going to take the back tires off to check the brakes because that's the code the car was throwing. I waited in store while they took off all tires and I was waiting there for about an hour and a half. He finally came out and told me that they checked everything and it was an electrical issue with the rear brakes and that now the car was suing the front brakes more because of this issue. I was told to bring it to the dealership to have them see what the issue was and Mike said if it was something they did, I could bring it back to Mavis and they would fix it. Again, all that I got was an oil change, and now I can't take my car out of state tomorrow and have to make an alternate plan. I will NEVER USE MAVIS EHT AGAIN! They also didn't fill out the sticker of when I needed my next oil change and I mentioned that to Mile, and when I was finally driving home, I realized they just took the sticker off instead of filling it out. This was the worst expirience of my life. I went in to get a flat tire fixed and from the very beginning the the scam was on. Perry who i think is the manager told me he couldn't fix the flat even though Triple A said it should be an easy fix. He told me i needed 2 tires because he couldnt fix the flat and my other rear tire was old. I explained to him that i was only keeping the car for a few more months but he wouldnt stop. I asked for the price and he tries to sell me the most expensive tires they have. After I finally agree to him putting 2 cheaper tires on for $375.00 i pick up the car a few hrs later and the bill is $978.00. He tells me that i had agreed to 4 tires and and a$150.00 wheel alignment. After me and my wife freaked out he took the tires off. I called the regional manager and he also didnt really care. It clearly appears that their selling methods of trying to rip older people off comes from top management. I filed complaints with every place possible. My husband had new tires put onto my car yesterday - TODAY we discovered that there was no air valve cap put onto the tire and the hub caps were mismatched. When we called to complain the associate LAUGHED and said "ha, sorry about that". We never write bad reviews but this was just awful. Will not take my car there again. read more

I came for three new tires, on next two days the air leaked, I thought Because of weather change, so I went to Wawa to pump air, then next two days they lose air again, then I called to the store and ask them and they gave me an appointment, next day I came they told me to wait for 3 hrs, so I have something to do, so I asked them To make me another schedule on next day, and I went to Wawa to pump air every other day and the next day I came they asked me to wait for servals hours again! Then I rescheduled again for the 3rd time! I came and asked the receptionist " May you help me to check on all three tires because today is the 3rd times I came, and the tires lose air for 5times already" he didn't understand but rude responded to me!Honestly this is my 2nd time I been to Mavis, after a bad experiences of the first time I thought maybe not every mavis is bad! My husband went to the newly opened Mavis Tire on the BHP in EHT at 6pm this evening for a plug in his tire. Bays were still open and mechanics were working. They refused to help him for a simple repair. This could have lead to the purchase of new tires and other repairs. We won't be going back. Not a great way to start off in a new community. read more
