As an outsider coming to explore the mountains just west of Lander, I made this my official "get my fishing license and reservation permit" stop and was grateful to see they're open late. We rolled in around 10pm and they were still going strong. We bellied up to the counter and for about roughly the same amount of money as you'd spend on a gently used Cadillac I was the proud owner of my licenses, which, coincidentally, I was asked to show a grand total of zero times over the course of my trip. Oh, the price of being a law-abiding citizen. There's lots of food and snackies here. Gas pumps, cold bevvies, and so on. A little light on the horrible gas station prepared foods, but more than made up for by all the doohickeys for sale all over the place. I was *this* close to buying a book called Whorehouses of Wyoming or something like that, but couldn't quite justify the expense.

Also one of the few gas stations (almost anywhere) with good quality windshield cleaners - and the option of buying unleaded gasoline without ethanol added. No refills allowed nor microwaving "outside food".

The only problem with this place is that it is in Shoshoni. I was stopped by the police leaving town and cited for speeding -- 52mph. The police made the story up, or pulled over the wrong car because it would be impossible for me to gain that speed as I immediately left the gas station following a truck and trailer. Do your best to avoid the shifty police here!

Is there any hope to the pleas that you were simply getting to highway speed? No, dear traveler -- for as an out of stater, you are their only prey. They have designed this town and this Fast Lane to entice and trap you. Accept your heavy fines and be gone! Say farewell to your vacation joy, for you have succumbed to the Shoshoni Fast Lane -- ironically and hilariously named.
