The café is small, quaint, spotless, and filled with playful bear décor that gives the whole place a warm, cheerful personality. It has the cozy feel of an old-fashioned country diner--the kind of place where you can settle in with a hot cup of coffee and enjoy a hearty, homemade breakfast. And let's talk about the food and those portions--OH MY! I ordered three eggs, bacon, hash browns, and homemade biscuits and gravy. Everything was cooked to order, arrived surprisingly fast, and tasted wonderful. The biscuits and gravy especially satisfied that serious comfort-food craving I had that morning. They were warm, filling, and exactly what I needed! The coffee was a good, strong black brew that fit the country-café experience perfectly, and the prices were exactly what I would expect to pay for such a generous breakfast. The restaurant was busy, and with only two waitresses working, they could definitely have used another set of hands. A few guests had to ask for coffee refills or their checks, but this is a brand-new restaurant, and I am sure they are still working out the little details. The staff was working hard, so bring a little patience and enjoy the experience. Lovely Bear Cafe has all the ingredients to become a local favorite: delicious homemade food, huge portions, reasonable prices, fun décor, and plenty of small-town charm. Give this new café a chance to delight you the next time you are visiting the Pinetop-Lakeside area!

A little advice: if you are going for breakfast, arrive early--especially on a weekend. Darbi's gets busy! But whether you are waiting for breakfast or lunch, trust me, it is worth it. The portions are enormous, the food is excellent, and this team clearly knows how to serve a crowd. They have the whole operation dialed in. The restaurant itself is adorable, full of personality, and has the kind of lively, welcoming atmosphere that makes a meal feel like part of the vacation. For lunch, Dan ordered the Monte Cristo, served on a French toast bun with raspberry compote for dipping. It was sweet, savory, crispy, and absolutely delicious. We shared it, of course! I ordered the green chile cheeseburger, and it was packed with flavor. Breakfast was a whole adventure. We ordered one cinnamon roll to share, not realizing it was approximately the size of four normal cinnamon rolls! We both laughed, cut ourselves a slice, and immediately asked for a box. It was warm, ooey-gooey perfection, loaded with cinnamon and butter and covered in cream cheese frosting. Honestly, it may have been the best cinnamon roll I have ever eaten. As though that were not enough, we had also ordered a side of bacon--four generous slices--and full breakfasts. We both chose the prime rib Benedict, and it was incredible. The eggs were large and beautifully colored, the English muffin was tender, the sauce was just right, and the hash browns had that perfect crispy crunch. Needless to say, we did not finish everything at either meal. Darbi's definitely believes in leftovers! The prices were very reasonable, and the waitstaff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming during both visits. Between the huge portions, creative dishes, fun atmosphere, and outstanding food, Darbi's is a must for breakfast or lunch in Pinetop. Go hungry, arrive early, and save room in the car for your leftover boxes!

Our food was correct (thus 2 stars - one for our chicken and one for our fries) but the wait was excessive (15 minutes) and I wanted a concrete and was debating with my husband on the size and opted for a small (we had this discussion in front of Madelyn) and after looking at the menu I ordered a "small concrete in the flavor of the day" and she placed my order without questions. My husband ordered a small chocolate concrete with Reese's PB cups but asked for them not to put too many in. After our 15 minute wait we were given a small chocolate concrete and a super tiny FOD concrete. I reminded her I ordered a small and she said it only came in that size. I said I wish she would've told me that when I ordered it. We didn't have time to wait to have it remade. It was supposed to be a chocolate and caramel concrete but there was no caramel on it so I asked if they could at least put that on it. When we got to the car I looked at my receipt and my concrete that was about 1/4 of my husband's small was $4.09! A small was $6.29. It gets worse: after asking for "not a lot of PB cups" he got ZERO. Sadly we did not realize this until we were a few miles out of town. My recommendations: if you are in a hurry go elsewhere and clarify what you are ordering and what you get. I think we'll just try somewhere else. As requested below I tried emailing to the address listed and it came back saying the address was invalid.

We love…read moreDickey's in Tucson and have used them for catering dozens of times, but this was our first time ordering/having food from the Pinetop-Lakeside Dickey's. I was, quite frankly, a little hesitant when I read some of the reviews online, but decided to give it a go since we have yet to find a really great place on the mountain for pulled pork or brisket. There are certainly plenty of choices for barbecue (that and Mexican food) up here in the area, but we haven't been super impressed with the flavor or moistness of the meat from any one of them. So, I called the restaurant and spoke on the phone with a young man named Aaron. I told him that I had some reservations about using them because of some of the online reviews, but that I was willing to give them a go and was counting on them to deliver a delicious meal that would impress my guests with the flavor, quality and quantity of food. I mean, really, what's more embarrassing than hosting a party and having the food be bad or even just mediocre? Or worse than running out of food?) Aaron assured me that the food would be delicious; that our guests would like it, and that there would be plenty of it. He was very polite and took quite a bit of time with me on the phone, so I decided to put my trust in them to deliver great food. Oh, my gosh, are we glad that we gave this Dickey's location a shot!?!? The food is EXCELLENT!!! The meats were ALL so flavorful and so moist, tender and delicious. every one of our guests LOVED the food! The chicken had the perfect hint of smokiness that good barbecue should have and was tender enough to cut with a plastic fork. The brisket was juicy and flavorful. The pulled pork was delicious and was not at all dry; as pulled pork can sometimes be. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and had just the right amount of richness to the cheese sauce. The "wings" we're not really wings, and were rather more like a big chicken nugget, but it was all moist, tender white meat and they were much easier to eat than your typical chicken wings. The guests really seemed to love them. No one had any complaints or negative comments about the food at all. Everyone asked where we had gotten the food, They all said that they had not tried this Dickey's location. or even any Dickey's, and would definitely now be going there on their own. The employees we spoke to on the phone were all very polite and very helpful. A woman called the day of the party to confirm my order and clarify a couple of things. She made a couple of suggestions, which I followed, and which actually turned out to be the right choices to enhance my order. I thought that it was excellent customer service and showed attention to my order to call on the morning of my party, just to go over everything on my order. After working 15+ years in customer service in public relations, I can recognize and appreciate when I am receiving good service. I found out later than she and her husband own the restaurant. The person who delivered the order, Robert, turned out to be her husband. He was great and helped me to get things set up in my chafing pans. I enjoyed talking with him while we worked. It turns out that he is a veteran with 22 years of service in the infantry, which is really impressive and, I believe, shows the content and strength of his character. We have nothing but the utmost of gratitude and respect for anyone who serves, or has served, in our military or as first responders, so I was very glad to know that we were supporting a veteran-owned business. Everything about our interactions with this Dickey's location was perfect. The customer service, the attention to detail and the quantity, quality and flavor of the food were all fabulous and far exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be using them again for catering and will, I am sure, become frequent visitors to their restaurant. Thank you to Dickey's Pinetop/Lakeside for helping to make my party a huge success! You made me look good. Thank you!
