We had our intimate Sunday wedding at Maverick's House, and it was the perfect affordable venue for our 65 guests! Venue: We held the ceremony and cocktail hour outside and the reception indoors. Guests loved the deck and waterfront views. It was a bit windy at first, but the deck blocked most of it. Our 3:45 PM May ceremony was shady, so I wouldn't recommend fans or parasols for the main lawn. There's also another ceremony area beyond the trees that looked sunnier, we used that area to take family formals. We had 7 tables inside, but it definitely can fit at least 8, though a few tables must be broken down for the dance floor. We used that space for younger guests, which worked fine. One of the biggest perks was the in-house catering and many inclusions, which made planning much easier. Not having to coordinate multiple vendors kept everything streamlined. From our first tour, Crystal and Lisa were wonderful. Crystal was especially helpful and was basically our wedding planner/day of coordinator. On the wedding day, she and the team even helped set up our DIY décor, which we really appreciated. We brought everything from SF, and they were very accommodating. The venue also has great coastal décor that fit our theme perfectly. Food: The complimentary tasting was fun! Trying the food, drinks, and picking linens made it feel more real. We didn't love the passed appetizers served that day, so we chose different menu items. Guests especially liked the clam chowder, mahi mahi, pesto penne, and hibiscus margarita! The tri-tip was a bit tough, but likely because of us pushing dinner to start a bit later. We also added stationed appetizers for cocktail hour and late-night flatbread. I'd suggest placing the flatbread on the deck instead of near the dance floor so guests can enjoy it more easily. DJ: We loved how connected the deck and reception space felt--you could step outside for a drink, still hear the music, and easily return to the dance floor. We chose Mark Addington from the venue's approved DJ list, and he was fantastic. He kept everything running smoothly and brought great energy to the celebration. Culture & Entertainment: We wanted to include a tea ceremony and lion dancing, and Maverick's House made both easy. The upstairs bridal suite was a peaceful setting for our tea ceremony, and the outdoor space worked perfectly for the lion dance. We were the first couple to have lion dancing at the venue, and we appreciated being able to do that. We're so grateful we chose Maverick's House and couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate our wedding! read more

I recently had a Celebration of Life party for my mom at this venue. The party was flawless fun and everyone had a great time. Jennifer and Lisa are awesome, easy to work with and responsive. The catering, bar and venue were all fabulous. With the use of local businesses as well as what the venue offers it was easy to throw together a really nice party. Hey! Just wanted to share some feedback about our wedding night. Jennifer, our wedding coordinator, had a great attitude but unfortunately didn't really take charge or communicate with the crowd. Our family kept asking where to go, and the grand entrance didn't happen as planned for reasons we're still unsure about. The timeline kept getting pushed up every 30 minutes, and Jennifer left us to figure things out on our own without many suggestions. I even mentioned to her that I've been in the wedding industry, but our wedding ended up very different from what we expected. A wedding coordinator needs to be outgoing, a people person, and proactive, but we had to coach her throughout the night. On the bright side, the Maverick House venue was beautiful and did not disappoint. read more

What a great venue. We are so happy to have our wedding at Mavericks House. We wanted a water front venue in the bay area. We looked at many venues, and Mavericks House perfectly fit our vision of an outdoor ocean front ceremony, indoor reception, intimate size for a small (40) guest count, and fit in our budget! The pictures of this place don't begin to capture what it truly feels like. That's why my fiancé and I made the trip to Mavericks House, hoping to see it for ourselves before putting down a deposit. We trusted Crystal when she said she would hold our date until we could come in... but something in me quietly worried, like I should have done more to secure it. Mavericks House was not only in a stunning location but exceeded our expectations for my daughter's October wedding with 68 guests! Working with Crystal Rose during the planning process all the way to wedding day was a breeze, she is awesome! Starting with the proposal, we could see there was a very organized process already in place to add vendors, catering, decor and set-up. There were no surprise costs as it was all disclosed up front in the proposal so we really knew from the beginning what we were looking at. The bridal suite upstairs is beautiful and spacious, had everything we needed to get great pictures and was the perfect setting to watch guests arrive. Crystal directed the rehersal and ceremony with such patience and attention to detail. We and our guests were so pleased with the food from the passed appetizers to the main dinner service. From start to finish, our time with Mavericks House was worth every penny! Their staff are super professional and responsive throughout the process. Their day of coordination kept our wedding movingly along and it was honestly the best day ever! Our experience with Mavericks House was exceptional from start to finish. Communication was effortless, with easy contact via email and their event portal. Brittani, our main contact, was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the entire process, ensuring that we were always up-to-date on deadlines, payments, and required documentation/forms. The venue's payment schedule and pricing structure were transparent and easy to understand, and the payment portal made transactions simple and convenient. The portal also let us refer to current and past documents at any time, making planning much easier. One of the highlights of our experience was the delicious food and drinks provided by the venue. The menu we chose offered a variety of options, including 3 cocktail hour appetizers, starter salad, 3 different mains, 2 sides, a churro bar, wine list, beer list, and His/Hers signature cocktails. The tasting process to choose our menu and drink list was not only enjoyable but also helped us customize our selections to our preferences. During the tasting, we also chose tablecloth/napkin colors, table configurations, and many other details for our wedding. They also took into consideration our guests with sensitive food allergies. We needed accommodations for gluten free, nut free, and shellfish free guests. Our guests with these allergies said the staff were very helpful and provided food they could enjoy. One thing that truly set this venue apart was their accommodation for guests who didn't drink. They allowed us to have two His/Hers signature cocktails and a mocktail, ensuring that everyone had a special drink option. Additionally, they provided Martinelli sparkling cider in addition to champagne for our toast, catering to our non-drinking guests. Throughout our wedding day, the staff provided full support and assistance when necessary, including helping us set up our DIY decor/centerpieces. Whenever we wanted to get more drinks from the bar, a staff member made us feel special by getting our drinks quickly, making us feel like the VIPs of our event! Since we were busy taking photos during our cocktail hour, at dinner, the staff provided us with a sampler plate of the appetizers we missed during cocktail hour, which was very thoughtful! At the end of the night, clean up was a breeze as the staff quickly and efficiently helped us clean up well before our 11pm cut-off time. Overall, our experience with Mavericks House was wonderful, and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for a picturesque venue that offers great food, drinks, and exceptional service. read more

Hamilton and I just got married at Mavericks House and loved every minute of it. First, it is beautiful (even on a foggy Half Moon Bay day) which made saying yes to this venue so easy! Second, the staff was amazing. Lisa, Brittani and the full event team made everything run so smoothly, as well as so patiently and graciously answer every one of my questions leading up to the day. The event team really made my wedding day perfect! We had 100 people and did our ceremony and dinner outside, with cocktail hour and dancing inside and on the patio. I think this is a good size for what we wanted as it wasn't too crowded. I did not use the bridal suite for "getting ready" but it was a great spot to have as an additional bathroom for the bridal party and a spot to throw bridal party items into. The only slightly tough part was the bathrooms as there are only 2 in the main floor, however no one really seemed to care much. I loved having my event here!! read more

Maverick's House Venue is a win!! I hosted my team's offsite here at the end of February 2024, and the photos online don't do it justice. It's beachside with gorgeous views. The venue itself had wonderful decor and furniture. We were able to use the main room, deck, grass area for activities, and upper level. There are three restrooms which is great for a group of 40. The staff was amazing, the food was amazing and the place itself was so aesthetic. Lisa was a dream to work with. She was attentive the entirety of the planning, and was able to accommodate my team's last-minute requests. Annie, one of the on-site staff members, was so helpful and attentive as well. We absolutely loved our wedding at Mavericks! The (seemingly endless:) prep work was handled expertly by Lisa Graye every step of the way. Because of Covid considerations, we had to have "a plan A and a plan B" up to two weeks before the wedding, and again, Lisa was professional, considerate and thorough. In addition, the all of the staff on our special day were incredible, and truly made us feel like royalty! There is no detail that was overlooked, and all came to fruition beautifully. From one Wedding Vendor to another, I wanted to take the time to acknowledge what an amazing venue this was to work at and the incredible staff and team they have built at Maverick's. This was my first flip as a Planner, and I was adamantly a bit nervous about completing a full transition within 90 minutes (for those of you who do not know what a flip is, it is when we transition a ceremony site into a reception/dinner site) all while guests enjoy cocktail hour and watch. I was so impressed with how smoothly everything went and how well organized the team was. From the moment the truck arrived with tables and chairs to the quick and efficient set up by all the team members. Working with the Maverick's staff truly felt like being part of a well oiled machine. Each and every person contributed to the success of the evening and I couldn't have asked for a better experience as a Planner. The couple had the most perfect day! They went above and beyond for not only the couple but for my team and I and I cannot thank them enough for all the support. The Mavericks House has a lot of different options available that could suit your budget. Different menu options, different bar options, additional add-ons, etc. I would say that after searching many many hours for a Bay Area venue that didn't cost me an exorbitant amount of money, I felt very lucky to have found the Mavericks House. We held our wedding (ceremony+cocktail+reception) here. We had about 60 guests, and I think that was a comfortable number (especially during Covid times). We were looking for a place to have a smaller wedding with reasonable prices, is dog-friendly, and has a spectacular view. This place checked off all our boxes. Getting married with the ocean in the background, bright blue skies, and seals yapping in the background was everything I could've hoped for. We got extremely lucky with the weather, and the day was magical! Another huge plus is the 2nd floor. The 2nd floor of the reception space is available as the "bridal suite". The space is huge! There are couches, a private bathroom, a fridge, and it's just a relaxing space. I was able to get ready up there before the ceremony, and we were able to escape from the guests whenever we wanted. Finally, I just wanted to say that Melanie and Lisa were both just wonderful people. Melanie was my point person for all my initial inquiries. She was great and very responsive. Once I reserved the date, Lisa became my girl. Lisa was just THE BEST. She was so professional, so helpful, and so poised. As a bride, I had a million things in my head that I'm worried about and have questions about. Lisa was so patient with all my questions. Since she's been doing this a while, she was able to bring up other things that I didn't even think about. She really helped me with the little details as we got closer to the date, and she made sure everything ran smoothly on my wedding day. The venue doesn't have a designated day of coordinator, and Lisa is definitely not that, but she really made things easier. I planned the wedding on my own, and I'm so glad Lisa was the person I got to work with to carry out my vision. I highly recommend the Mavericks House! read more

I really, really wanted to love this venue space. But I did not. They ever should have allowed that large of a capacity for the size. There was no room at all for the cocktail hour. The bar was feet from the dinner tables. We were cramped and with long wait times for a drink. One bartender was busy making passed trays of drinks. The water pitcher was in the sun and the ice was gone. We sat in the unbearable sun outside for dinner. We literally took turns going around the building to cool off. The butter was a melted pool on the plate. The steak was so overcooked I could barely cut through it. The fish was dry. The Caesar salad was actually delicious. We couldn't hear when they announced the first dance, bouquet toss, etc - only the other half of the people inside could hear. Only 2 single bathrooms for over 120 people. I would suggest this venue only for a patty of 70 or less so the guests can be comfortable and move around. Views are stunning just like anywhere else on the water in HMB. We decided to have our wedding at Mavericks House last week without much knowledge about the location or their services. We were absolutely thrilled with the entire experience. Beginning with the ceremony, Lisa and her staff were extremely attentive and professional, guiding our entire party through the process. They set up our musicians and gave them all they needed. The appetizers and champagne were served after the ceremony, and were fresh, delicious and prompt. Dinner was served right on time and incredible, we had Halibut and Tri Tip. The staff continuously checked on our guests, keeping everyone happy. They then helped us with the cake cutting ceremony, and served that and cheesecake. Despite a couple of unexpected hiccups - the event coordinators and managers were incredibly attentive, helpful, and understanding. We had our wedding here a few days ago, and it turned out even better than I imagined. This was largely to do with how helpful, observant, and proactive the banquet and event staff were on the day of our event. My husband and I had no worries and were allowed to be fully present.
