Dr. Shapiro has been my doctor for over twenty years. She also became my mother's doctor and my…read morepartner's doctor. So I guess it's pretty apparent that I think the world of her. I've never written a Yelp review, but after reading the last review I felt compelled to write of my experience because it is a world away from what that person experienced. I don't think the fact that you weren't married or had previous children was a reason for being turned away, but I do know that Dr. Shapiro has been full for years. I, myself, came to see her as a lesbian who had 4 children through donor insemination and she was always fine with it. Over my years with her she has been super attentive to all of my concerns and has seen me through some mental health crises/suicide attempt, caring for my very aged mother, the suicide of my son, and most recently, my transitioning to male. Although she's never had a trans patient before, she has taken over prescribing my hormone therapy and has been instrumental in getting me the letters I've needed for gender affirming surgery. I am beyond grateful for the years I've had with her and dread the day she retires (which I know is no longer on the distant horizon). I don't really think she needs any 5 star reviews since as I mentioned her practice is full, but I felt I had to offer a counter opinion to the individual that felt they were turned away because of having an "alternative" (?) lifestyle. I agree with Kathryn A. - she's the BEST!!!

I contacted my Dr And confronted her with what I found. She replied that she herself had some scary reviews as well And it was of course up To me and she would refer me to someone else if that's what I wanted. I truly adore my doctor and think very highly of her and value her opinion greatly so I made an appointment with Dr Arvin. Wow! I almost made a big mistake as I had a truly great experience here! Not to discount what others have written, but I am entitled to my own opinion as well. Kinda scary issue I was having and I think it was handled expertly. Dr Arvin is a very kind, genuine person who is very intelligent. I love her office (not that this matters) but it's coziness made me feel at home and comforted when I was feeling Scared. Her staff is very professional and caring and I felt as comfortable as one can possibly feel in an somewhat uncomfortable situation (she is a gyn after all...) My experiences here would be that she runs on time (or within 5 minutes). There is lots of street parking (for my most recent visit I had to park around the corner). Lots of great magazines but if I have to go back, I would without hesitation.

My wait has never been longer than 10 minutes, usually less. She is pleasant and detailed, takes time to chat and explain. Staff is pleasant. Very easy to get through on phone and to schedule. Haven't had any serious issues thankfully so can't speak to that, but quite happy with the office thus far.

They made me feel so comfortable, and made sure my experience was as pain-free as possible. I give them 5 billion stars for the following reasons: First, making the appointment was very easy. I just called during business hours and they got me in. Once I got there, they had me sign in and although there was about a 20 minute wait to be triaged (they were very busy), they reassured me and the other waiting patients that we had not been forgotten, and they offered us all tea and water. In triage with Maddie, there was a very thorough check-in and informed consent process. I told her that my first IUD insertion had caused me a ridiculous amount of pain, and she immediately gave me options (laughing gas, lidocaine cream, a heating pad, etc.). They were very kind to my support person as well. The actual procedure took about 10 minutes and only pinched for a second. In comparison to a private, expensive women's clinic, planned parenthood knocked them out of the park. I'd suggest this location and these practitioners to anybody ever. To conclude, I'll never go anywhere else again for reproductive health care, and I will recommend it to all of my friends. I love you Heidi and Maddie! I LOVE YOU PLANNED PARENTHOOD!

Well, my pmdd worsened, I went up 3 sizes and developed a gluten intolerance from depo which actually is uncommon but of course I got it. I went to a different OBGYN and it took her 5 seconds to understand that I needed a progesterone birth control instead and now my weight has gone down and my pmdd has lessened drastically. I don't want to turn people off from coming here for other care but I highly recommend getting an OBGYN in place of PP for birth control options.

My MD, Jason Short, was a good enough guy, but I can no longer abide with the ridiculous wait times at this location. Today, I was scheduled for a 2:50 appt, they took be back around 3:05, and I was still sitting in the exam room waiting for a physician at 3:50. This is completely unacceptable. I understand that physicians get behind for a myriad of reasons, but if they are running late, the office should give you a call and let you know so you have the option to reschedule. This is not a unique circumstance, although it is the longest. I have been made to wait for inordinately long periods of time many times over the years. No longer. I do not recommend NSFM. It seems as though they are more focused on patient volume than patient satisfaction.

She is flaky and unprofessional, and my most recent interactions with her would suggest that she's into shady business practices as well. During my first few visits, I thought she was eccentric but basically OK. Recently, it's devolved into the sort of mess that would be comical were she not dealing with people's lives. At my most recent appointment, Michelle had to re-schedule because she couldn't bother to let her receptionist know where she was. Then I waited 20 minutes in the waiting room, alone, while she talked to her bank and tried to change her account password. When she was finally ready for me, she grabbed someone else's chart. Once she performed the exam, she erased the wrong numbers in the computer and had to re-do it. Then she refused to send the records to my primary physician, despite numerous calls from their office. Michelle had me pay out of pocket for these "services," yet billed my insurance company anyway and then had the gall to send me a bill for the remainder of what the insurance didn't pay--on the bill I'd already paid. Currently, no one in her office will answer the phone. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!
