They took the information and knew how old she was before the intake call. During the call the owner told me that the therapists are not trauma informed and that my daughter would need to attend sessions by herself so that they could be hippa compliant. I find it hard to believe that parents would drop off their 2.5 years old to an appointment. She said that since I practice attachment parenting that it would not be a good fit. I asked her what she thought attachment parenting was to her. I left the appointment feeling that I needed to convince her that we were a good fit for her program. This was something I didn't feel was compatible with the care we are seeking. We were originally seeking support for sensory processing and after speaking with my daughter's therapist that she actually doesn't have sensory processing issues. This could have easily been determined on the call. I would like to share this information in case parents are on the long wait list with their child under 3 that they admitted that they are not well equipped to "accommodate " children of that age. A follow up email wasn't sent which would have been a thoughtful curtesy after such an off putting first impression. I can appreciate that her clinic might not be set up for parents to attend with their children but felt that the way this was communicated with me was insulting and disrespectful. I feel this could have easily been avoided in the initial communication with admin staff.

I've been cared for by health link in three phases and the first two were difficult, but the most…read morerecent one was worst. This last time I was admitted into care a specific physical therapist treated me like I was lying or making excuses for not being able to walk yet. I was still using my wheelchair, and I was barely able to walk across the street, or outside. I've had four surgeries on my legs, and before that, repairs failed, and before that, I had delayed care while the worldwide infection took place. I suffered significant muscle wasting the first two years and probably each time I suffered a setback in my recovery. I truly don't know why I'm still having difficulties with my mobility since 6 years ago, and it's not just my legs, it my whole body. With that being said, I was bullied and questioned the majority of the latest time with healthlink. Kenneth asked me why it's been six years and I still don't walk right. He repeated that I need to do my exercises, that I gotta do the rehab. That was his literal only concern. If you guys had the ability to monitor my activity 24 hours a day you'd have seen just how much exercise I have done. My body has changed shape since first getting admitted in 2023 and still so changes, I kept getting the third degree about my pt sessions. I did them all. I think the problem was, they didn't accurately assess my needs. They saw a non skinny person with major mobility issues and assumed that I was just fat and lazy, I say this because their main feedback was always, "lose weight" "move". I move daily, I've lost fat mass these last 6 years too and so their "concerns" landed very judgmentally, and very unhelpful, and very traumatizing. I still haven't taken a shower since the last time Healthlink came in to assist with a sponge bath, which was June or early June and I still can't go upstairs to shower. I have explained all the problems that I notice with my body, did all the work, did all the stuff recommended, and they seemed to not be satisfied. It's like they wanted my body progress on their time. I fully don't know what's happening. I don't know how much actual atrophy I have but standing in place makes me sweat no matter the weather, it can be cold cold, and the effort of standing still makes me sweat, because it is very difficult. If standing in place is difficult, just imagine how hard all the other stuff is? I told Kenneth, and Emily, and the female nurse who came, and all three never actually heard me out. They didn't ask me questions about my mobility, they didn't investigate why I might be having such a hard time. I did all the work assigned except for sit to stands, and those always made my knees feel like they were ripping apart. There were a lot of problems with my hands too, and the tissue damage I have is still there. I'm still using my brace, I still haven't returned to my normal weightlifting which was already not that much, I was exercising to the full limit daily and continue to do so even if the intensity is less than before while my hand issues heal. My case is difficult and I'm doing all I can to recover, and still so, these last three individuals treated me like I wasn't trying, like I was lying about my recovery, like I was lying about the efforts. I have been having flashbacks about the their lack of real effort to figure out how to go about my physical therapy. Shout out to the other two male physical therapists who did in fact give me very good feedback during my sessions with them, but sadly they don't work there anymore. I'm sad that the experience went from really great, to really bad, and the thing that made me write this is that I felt bullied despite giving it my all. I feel right now like my body is just barely ready to get back outside, because when I need to rest, my body feels like it's struggling to keep the body together, intact. It feels like my muscle structure is struggling to keep it's integrity. I got let down by the few individuals who decided I didn't even try. One of the latest nurses actually asked me in her words in a very demeaning and taunting tone, "well did you even try to go back to outpatient? Did you actually try to make it?" That's when I realized, these people don't believe I'm this delicate, they think I'm lying. I was so sad and hurt. It's just so low. Thanks for the good parts. The occupational therapists are very good, thanks Carrie for you assistance and insight. Thanks so very much for the good care and times at least. I just feel like you guys gotta train better and stop assumptions. I'm just very very disappointed.

She has been home for about one month now. When she arrived, she was still recovering from an incredibly serious medical journey, including months without part of her skull after her emergency craniectomy. By that point, caring for her at home had become unsafe for her and unsustainable for us. She had complete left-side hemiplegia, and even getting her to outpatient therapy required us to carry her down the stairs in her wheelchair. Around six months post-stroke, a home health PT even told us he didn't believe she would walk again. Shortly before her admission, my mom began showing some motor return in her left hip. We recognized it at home and through her outpatient therapists, and we knew we needed a place where she could safely and consistently build on that progress. Pacific Heights Transitional Care Center provided exactly that structure. During her stay, the therapy team helped her strengthen that early movement and start relearning the fundamentals of walking: weight shifting, stepping, balance, and confidence. By the time she discharged, she went from total dependence to now walking at home with her walker and the support of one person. She can even navigate stairs with assistance, which once felt impossible for us. She's continuing to improve and is genuinely on her way toward doing these things more independently in the coming months. The staff also took the time to train my husband and me on how to safely support her walking and stair practice, which made a huge difference in her transition home. And throughout her stay, the nurses, CNAs, and therapists created a kind, consistent, and reassuring environment that helped her feel safe every day. A heartfelt thank-you to Jasmine from PT, Joanna from speech therapy, Miranda from OT, and nurses like Massami, as well as Diana and Kenny, who showed her real warmth and care throughout her stay. This facility helped stabilize my mom, build on the progress she had already begun, and set her up for the next stage of recovery. I remain very grateful for the support she received here.

She had given me a plan about what steps we were going to take that would be in the best interest for my child. Her intake is also VERY thorough and covers more bases than any other intake I've done and I've been through the intake process with connected kidz (who by the way are amazing as well), GGRC, Gatepath, and World of Words. She communicates thoroughly and is sure that she touches base with you on all points. I can honestly say I am looking forward to meeting with.
