Matosinhos, a seaside town near Porto, is well known for its seafood, and makes for a popular day trip.
When we went to this restaurant we were surprised at a long wait. A lady nearby, who speaks some English, explained to us that it was a day of celebration for the Portuguese, so many families were eating out. I guess it's a good sign that the place was filled with locals and not tourists.
The restaurant itself was actually quite big, with two stories. There is a case displaying the fresh catches, and they do offer an English menu.
We ordered a fish and seafood stew. The food is good, but honestly we expected more, as our friends have raved about the seafood here, setting our expectations high. It's obviously popular with locals, and there's nothing bad about this place, but next time I'd try out another place. read more
