Needed a backflow test on a property I manage and MP were one of the certified recommended businesses for completing the work and submitting the permit. When I called the office they were very helpful and I managed to get an appointment a week out. Jacob arrived and did a great job, was very professional and friendly and when he explained there were 2 backflows on the property I got him to do both to save time in the future and to make sure everything was up to date. As former associate with Maui plumbing, I must first admit I'm not a perfect person or plumber, but in no way did I purposely create aggravated circumstances on any job intending to facilitate less than perfect outcome. With that said and other circumstances , I would suggest to you a homeowner or contractor, even property management co. To actively seek a different plumber, I can tell you firsthand that when I came to your need as well as one or two other plumbers there.... it went well only because we made sure it did, Maui plumbing in my opinion is over priced, high on part mark up and basicly not the best out there for what you pay. Can't say enough good things about Maui Plumbing. I had a water line burst behind my wall. I called numerous plumbers, everyone was booked up solid. Maui Plumbing returns my after hours call the next morning, and sent someone to my house that day. The plumber (Chris?) has all the necessary tools in his van, including a jackhammer, as my water line was encased in a concrete foundation. He had my line fixed and water back on in 30 minutes. Wow. I had a simple fix, i needed a new toilet and to have it installed. I don't know anything about plumbing, and i just didn't want to do it myself because i wanted it done right. I call around to several places, these guys sounded okay so i made an appointment for an estimate. He showed up on time, gave me a fair price and made and appointment to do the work around my busy schedule. He got there early, he worked really fast, got it all done, and he went the extra mile by doing that bit extra to make sure the job was done right. **This review is based solely on how the front office behavior and does not reflect any services rendered.** Spoke with a woman named Lori in the office today, about when a tech would be out to simply remove a clog in our tub drain. She told my bf earlier this week she was putting us on the schedule for someone to come on Thursday (today) between 10am-12pm, to work on it. Perfect! So today, 11:00am rolls around and no tech has arrived yet. I call to confirm that someone is in fact still coming and Lori tells me that no tech will be arriving within the "estimated time" they gave us and I needed reschedule. We are going out of town for 2wks, TOMORROW. They knew this. I asked if another tech could come out or if they could come later in the afternoon, she told me no with no explanation. Every other time, the people who make appointments are very nice, understanding and work with us to accommodate our schedule. She was very rude and unwilling to help, I figured she was on her phone not paying any attention to my complaint because I kept hearing her phone go off in the background. I've worked in this kind of industry before so I understand if techs work past their time and if other problems arise, jobs can take too long, it's certainly happened before with Maui Plumbing! It's customary to call first thing in the AM if you don't think you'll be able to make the appointment so THEN it's appropriate to reschedule. Not when the customer calls you wondering where you are because YOUR company said you'd be there, and you're not. As faithful customers who have been very satisfied with their service in the past, I hoped they would at least respect us and our appointment and inform us (or at least our property mgmt) ahead of time that no one will be able to service our tub today. Not too sure what's going on today in their office but that is not how you treat customers for YOUR company's mistake. read more

We had Dan Cardenas of Maui Plumbing come to our Maui condo to install a dishwasher and a kitchen sink recently. Shortly after Dan left I noticed that it was leaking where Dan connected the dishwasher supply line hose to the shut off valve. I called Dan and said that there was a problem with his work. Dan blamed the leak on a recently installed shut off valve and said it would be $185 + to return. I took the leaking connection apart myself, saw that the rubber gasket was not seated properly, applied teflon tape, put it back together and no leak! Maui Plumbing does not charge an hourly rate, they charge a flat rate. Dan explained that they could make more money that way. Dan rushed through the job, while swearing almost non stop, gave me a poorly done leaky job and then would not correct his faulty work without charging me more money. My experience with Dan Cardenas and Maui Plumbing was terrible and I would not recommend them! They did a bad job for me and are not ethical enough to back up their work. read more

How can I possibly recommend a plumbing company that would charge $730 for 1 hour's work??? The plumber came out, removed the toilet, cut into the wall, replaced a pipe, and put the toilet back. He had to go for supplies (why he didn't have them with him is anybody's guess) and so the total time at the house was under an hour. I thought $200-$300 tops. Nope. Bottom line: professional and trustworthy, worth the money. I came back to update my review of Maui Plumbing but I realized that I never left a review.. so here goes. This was my second time using them for minor residential plumbing stuff and there is a reason I decided to use them again. The first time, I needed a cartridge in my shower in a semi-emergency kind of way. They got it done quickly and professionally. I usually try and watch and learn and they had lots of pointers and tips. The second time they came out and had a fix I could try on my own first to save money - thanks for that guys! It is service like this that earns you a repeat customer, a yelp review, and referrals to my friends when it comes up. read more

Called them and got an estimate 4x of what my usual plumber quoted me but he was on vacation. Didn't want to wait so had them do it. After about a couple days later I inspected their work and noticed a slight leak. Called them back to get some one out to fix their shotty job and they said it'll cost me more. How do you install something incorrectly then charge them again to refix it??? Called my usual plumber and he explained and showed me what they messed up on. After jumping through hoops to find a plumber to replace my water heater, I was disappointed to find that my plumbing issues were not resolved. (The previous plumber insisted that the water heater was "guaranteed" the issue.) After spending about $6k replacing my solar water heater, I was a bit dubious about going with the same company despite having worked with them before, so I did some research and came across Maui Plumbing (referred to as MP from here on out.) I scheduled an appointment with MP to get an estimate for the repairs, and I was impressed by how friendly and efficient the man I spoke to on the phone was. He promptly scheduled an estimate and assured me that the tech would call the next day to give me an idea of when they would be stopping by. True to his word, they did and I was impressed by their efficiency and consideration. Dan came by to inspect what all was going on with my plumbing and he gave me two options--either completely replace my incoming pipes or do a partial replacement. I received estimates for both options, which cost me nothing. (I've had plumbers charge me just for coming out, so I was really, really happy about getting the estimate for free.) The estimates I received from MP were not only hundreds of dollars less than what their competition quoted me, but the turnaround time was quicker. Despite not having worked with them before, my husband instinctively trusted Dan and felt that MP was more transparent about what needed to be done, so he encouraged me to choose them. After a couple of months of deliberation and saving, I decided to replace all the incoming pipes and tried to contact the office via e-mail. I didn't hear back, so I followed up again and eventually received a call from them asking me to e-mail them, which was a little confusing, but worked out all right in the end as we worked things out and scheduled a date for work to begin. On the first day, Dan came by with John and his apprentice, whose name I didn't catch, to reiterate what was going to be done and how long the work would take. With a team of two men (John and his apprentice) working on replacing all our incoming hot and cold water pipes, they were able to finish in just TWO DAYS! Not only that, but the work they did was very impressive and clean. They had to cut into the wall behind the bathroom to replace the pipes but they did it in a careful way that made patching it up a quick and easy job. They went out of their way to treat our things as if they were their own and carefully moved them. Dan, John, and MP are miracle workers. There are really not enough nice things I can say about them. I can recommend MP wholeheartedly, without any reservations. That being said, you may be wondering why this isn't a 5-star review. It's because of their office person, Lori. After MP started the job, their office realized they hadn't collected our deposit. My husband called them to discuss it and asked if we could stop by the office with a check because we weren't comfortable giving our credit card information over the phone. Lori sounded a bit off-put by his suggestion but eventually agreed to it. He then asked what the exact amount would be needed for the deposit, and she answered: "Didn't you receive an invoice?" We agreed that we *did* receive an invoice but wanted to know how much the deposit was. (We assumed it was 50% of the cost but wanted to confirm since we had to go to the bank to get a cashier's check.) After a lot of unhelpful back-and-forths, my husband asked her to send us an e-mail with the exact amount in it, which she agreed to do. Minutes later, I receive an e-mail with the estimate that I already had (not what we asked for), so I replied saying that wasn't what we asked for but thanks anyway. To their credit, someone else (Angela) replied to my e-mail and apologized for the mistake. When we were at the bank, my husband had to call the office again and ask for the amount. Thankfully, we figured it out and I was able to get the cashier's check for the correct amount. Lori turned out to be very nice and accommodating in person, and explained that the issue with invoicing and e-mail has to do with their backend. (Which doesn't make sense, all she had to do was open up Outlook, write a new e-mail with "Your deposit is $X" or even just tell us on the phone what the percentage was...) This is just speculation, but I suspect she's just not good at communicating via e-mail and over the phone. I feel bad knocking off a star, but the fact of the matter is that we were turned off by her lack customer service. I'm sure she's a wonderful person and perhaps with the exclusion of communicating with customers, she is likely really great at her job but If I hadn't gone into the office I would never have known that she is actually a pleasant person. To summarize: I highly recommend MP. Their customer service might seem poor at times but I chalk it up to miscommunication. read more

I own a Condo in west Maui, and had a cronic leaking toilet. Toilet looked brand new but replacing the wax ring wasn't doing the job. My tech Tim was persistent and wouldn't give up, he came out three times trying to remedy the problem! Yes I eventually baught a new toilet and he installed it...problem solved! The plumber who arrived (with new comfort height toilet) said he could simply repair the leaking wax seal rather than replace. They did plumbing work for me at my home. Their work is way below average. Pipes protruding outwards instead of within the walls. They don't even cover the holes that the pipes have gone through. We were remodeling our kitchen and needed a plumber immediately. My contractor suggested them and so glad we took his recommendation. Dawn immediately contacted guys that were in our area and within an hour, two guys showed. Before doing any work, they went over what they would need to do and cost. They did a great job, professional and timely, and very nice. We were very pleased and grateful they responded quickly although they had a full day. We then needed a plumber to finish our kitchen sink install after we realized we needed special piping and cutting. A friend suggested a different business that could come out that day. What a mistake. Double billed us and did not go over cost, see bill or anything until after job completed. He was done before we knew he started. The guy who took our info quoted us, so we went with that amount. The plumber had to come back and fix his mistake. Double billed again and didn't tell us we would be billed for anything. For maybe an hour work total on both visits, they charged us 500 dollars. After disputing the double hours billed, we realized that cheaper isn't better with plumbing. Somehow, they get you. Lesson learned. From this point forward, we will happily pay a bit more for communication, professionalism, wonderful work and kindness with Maui Plumbing. read more

Beware of Maui Plumbing. We had a water heater blowout and we bought a new electric heater at Home Depot whic we brought to our condo. The Maui Plumbing Plumber disconnected the old heater, removed it and installed the new one. This was less that 2 hours work. We got a WHOPPING bill of $645 for this service and we supplied the water heater. I'm not complaining about the service just the price. read more

Jeremy showed up to take a look at the kitchen sink. He was professional, knowledgeable, thorough and friendly. He explained what was going on clearly and accurately. 2nd call to maui plumbers and I will never ever call them again. I used then a year ago with good service but very expensive. This time it was a big mess. They were over priced $1200.00 and the technician was a creep. The work and materials used to repair a valve for the washing machine should have cost me around $500 was what another company told me. I had to call another plumber to fix their work and change out the valve! Plus, they shut off the County valve on the street without notifying the City and caused a leak. I now need to pay the county to fix their valve because they are the only ones who should be touching that valve. I tryed calling like 10 times and all i got was a voice mail. - that is a no-no!!! Don't ever use them! Rip offs, creeps, dont answer after they take your money, scams, and heartless. If i could I would give a 0 star. read more

Maui plumbing was a great help. I went to lowes to just get information about dryers because mine was broken and not rotating. A lowes employee suggested Maui plumbing and they were able to come 5 days later, 9 days earlier than sears. The plumber came, took a look, opened everything up, and provided me a lot of information about washers. Unfortunately, I decided to just get a new one because mine was 8 years old. They were really helpful and Susan is so nice! I will keep their number for future plumbing needs. read more

REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE: in 2012, I ordered new hot water heater installation. When plumber left after doing job, I found I had NO running water at all. He returned, but had to return again as has no hot water.. Then discovered my washer/dryer hoses had been removed for HWH installation but never reconnected. - he had to come back AGAIN for that. Company recommended electrician to install thermostate/on-off switch. First electrician tried to place switch (didn't even bring a theremostat) in wrong place, then moved it ... leaving me with two holes in the wall which he refused to repair. Only recently learned when new A/C was being installed that Maui Plumbing's electrician had NOT taken the time to run a new wire to the on/off switch (couldn't even give me matching color plate and switch button!), but stole one from dishwasher which I rarely use but wanted to keep operational. Recently, the A/C electrician asked why there was no circuit box wire running to the dishwasher, and then we realized that the lazy, sloppy unprofessional electrician (who overcharged me too!) had not take the time to run a new wire to the switch but merely stole the one from dishwasher. ALTOGETHER A VERY UNPLEASANT AND SLOPPY WORK EXPERIENCE - LESSON LEARNED! No wonder they are not BBB accredited! read more

Called Maui Plumbing for the first time based on previous yelp reviews. Was not disappointed! Mike came on schedule if not early, was super pleasant, didn't have an insinkerator part. Ran to the hardware store and had it fixed in no time. Our faucet was leaking and needed replacement and since we were on a roll had him replace that as well. He had a suitable one in his truck!
