I found out I had a water leak through the EyeOnWater app and reached out to John at Good Guy Plumbing. After doing some troubleshooting on my own--changing toilet parts, checking the irrigation system, and investigating other possible causes--we narrowed the issue down to the main water line. John responded immediately, told me he could send someone out the same day, and even gave me a one-hour arrival window. Based on the information I provided, he was able to give me a quote before anyone even came out, which I really appreciated. As promised, Jonathan arrived right on time. He was incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He located the leak surprisingly quickly, and I was shocked at how deep the pipe was buried. At one point, Jonathan was upside down in the hole working to access it! Throughout the process, he clearly explained what needed to be done. He let me know he was going to the store to get a part and would be right back--and he was. He returned quickly and got right back to work. Once the repair was completed, he showed me the damaged section of pipe and explained the fix before covering everything back up. I was especially impressed with the care he took when refilling the hole. He carefully put the soil back in place, and by the end of the job, he was covered from head to toe in mud. It was obvious he worked incredibly hard to get the repair done right. It's been a few days since the repair, and so far everything is working perfectly. The owner of this company is responsive, kind, and most importantly, honest. I highly recommend Good Guys Plumbing for any plumbing needs. First day in my new condo in Kīhei. No hot water and this very senior woman has no clue how to get it. It's Sunday. I left a text with Good Guy. He called and walked me through how to turn on the breaker. Then he had me send him pics of the water heater and he told me how to turn it on. No charge. He truly is a good guy. Little did he know that an hour later, a fire truck and ambulance would be at my door to transport my sick sister to hospital (Flu A). We needed hot water and the Good Guy was here to provide it. The Good Guys lived up to their name today. I had asked them to fix a stuck toilet float valve and they responded that they would replace all toilet tank components to make the toilet "like new". That price was higher than buying a new toilet, so that didn't sound right & I posted a negative review based on my ignorance and inappropriate assumptions. To rectify the situation, they replaced all the tank components and explained why they needed to do this. They also explained why they had originally proposed that solution. I am going to add to the 5-star reviews. We had a complication that involved irrigation sprinklers not getting enough pressure to turn on. 2 other plumbers walked away from the job and 3 irrigation companies could not figure it out. Ideas speculated all over the place from leaks to replacement of valves and regulators. Nothing we fixed worked. Good Guy Plumbing was systematic, and thankfully for us, did not give up on the job when it got difficult. He thought about it for a day and came back to us with a plan. The plan worked to eventually find the source of the problem, which he fixed and the irrigation system works better than ever. We are very grateful. read more

Plumbing emergencies almost ALWAYS happen in the middle of the night on a holiday ... luckily for us, last night wasn't a holiday but a pipe burst on us shortly after 10pm. Immediately jumped on Yelp for "24 hour plumbers" and Good Guy Plumbing came up except it said they were closed, called anyways, John answered, said really nicely that they were closed but asked where we were and what happened - he came out bc we lived fairly close by and he 100% competently fixed our burst pipe, even though he was closed, AND he installed a new spigot for us!! I'm STANDING OVATION grateful that he (1) answered the call, (2) came out when he was closed, and (3) didn't try to gouge us with an exorbitant charge. We had been having problems with one of our toilets when we had company, no less. John and his wife were in the middle of a personal crisis and needed to leave the island.
