I came in to do an ultrasound for my abdomen. Right when I came in , no one greeted me, even after saying hi I guess I was invisible tried giving my ID and insurance and she literally ignored me. She might have a bad day, so I'll let it go. Anyways I finally got called and Jenifer? I think that was her name, she was so sweet, so I wasn't mad anymore she made sure that I was taken care of, and ask me if I was Ok. Overall I do recommend this place. read more

The ladies were so nice. It was easy to fill out all the they online on an iPad. I also got to listen to my favorite 1980s 1990s hip-hop music while I was in the machine. It was so pleasant I could've fallen asleep for hours. I would definitely recommend going to them. They were wonderful. Yes it turns out I have an MCL tear in my leg. I'm also impressed that they give you a QR code so you can actually go and see all of the images right after you leave the office very impressive very high-tech. read more

i had my first and last mammogram here. MDI needlessly made a recommendation of a breast biopsy. They did not even attempt to review my other diagnostic imaging done at Maui Memorial Hospital over the decades. MDI erroneously inferred i had breast cancer and subjected me to over a month of more and more invasive testing i did not need. It was an overall terrifying experience i will never repeat again. MDI does not offer breast MRIs which ruled out the need for any invasive biopsies. I will never go there again and I am very sorry i ever went there at all! read more

I work in the medical field and getting any type of document from them is like pulling teeth, they tell their patients they will send the report and imaging the next day, they never do. No one answers the phone or calls back, it has gotten worse since they switched over to power share, I would never recommend this place to anybody, how can you run a clerical office if you can't do clerical things such as answering the phone. read more

A combination of getting older, repetitive work duties and strenuous yard work are the factors that brought me to Maui Diagnostic Imaging. LOCATIONS: MDI currently has three locations - Kahului in the Triangle Square, Kihei Wailea Medical Center and Wailuku. SERVICES: MRI, CT, mammogram, ultrasound, x-ray, bone density. KAHULUI LOCATION: Everyone I came into contact with in the office were great! They kept excellent communication between myself and the referring doctor's office as well as confirming appointments. Only one hiccup occurred though I wasn't affected by it in the end thanks to their great communication. Lockers were available to keep belongings safe, along with changing rooms if you need them. MRI Tech Chris was plain awesome. He made me feel very welcome and made sure I was comfortable every step of the way during the two MRI's I had done, both about an hour and a half each. The referring doctor wanted me to do both MRI's in the same day, spending 3 hours in the machine. MDI refused that torturous request and broke it up into two separate days, thank you! Obtaining a copy of the MRI report and scan was so simple and were ready a few days after the appointment. The first copes were free to boot! FUN FACT: Because they're located next to Da Kitchen restaurant, I was teased with the smell of barbecuing Korean ribs as I was in the MRI machine due to the a/c ducts. Torture, I tell you, LOL! Went here today to get a ct scan done. Walked in at 750 and had an 815 appt. Had to sign some papers from the front desk. Easy peasy part. I was told to drink 2 bottles of barium prior to coming in. Flavor if choice was vanilla. Omgoodness I don't like that part it's di hard to go down. It's thick and chalky. Heidi (I think that was her name) came to get me to take me to the back, she was really nice. She told me the process of what was about to happen okay no problem. She started an IV on my left arm but it didn't work my vein wasn't cooperating so she switched arms and Wa-La it worked. Whewww! I don't mind needless at all but it was good that it worked on the 2nd arm 1st try.... The overall test took about 10 minutes. I rather a CT scan anyday over an MRI... MDI has friendly staff. They also have a nice waiting area with a huge screen TV... read more

It's generous of me to offer a one star. I thought it was just a fluke when in the past I've had extremely poor service. I've left multiple messages to their MRI dept and they don't respond. The care itself when I've gotten through the minefield of calls was ok. They lose records and even my doctor is fed up with them as they lose referrals from insurance. They need admin help badly. I have never had an MRI before and was a bit anxious before I got there. The tech, Anthony, was the best! He was calm and patient and talked me through the entire process. Don't get me wrong I was glad when it was over but was surprised it went by fairly quickly. The staff at the center are kind and usually the wait isn't long. I would highly recommend this diagnostic center verses going to Oahu for tests like these. read more

Disc problems in my lower back over the years means this was my 5th MRI so I know the drill. It was my first visit to MDI and I was very pleased with their professionalism and caring attitude. They contacted me to make an appointment for the following week, called to remind me the day before and were happy to answer my questions and remind me to remove jewellery and wear clothing without zips or metal fasteners, or I would have to remove them. Parking is easy, even with Covid-19 I had a friendly welcome to the clinic waiting room, and the lady behind the desk was happy to laugh at my jokes as I filled in the 3 short forms required. I arrived at 6pm for a 6.15pm appointment but they took me in early. They have lockers for your belongings and you can take the key in with you so everything is safe, and the toilet was clean and tidy too, as well as the changing stall. I took my bra off but left my yoga pants on and decided to wear the gown on top as my t shirt was a little nipply in the a/c. The technician who did the MRI had a great bedside manner and was very helpful, explaining every step and what to expect. He even gave me a blankie to keep warm as I felt a little chilly. 25 minutes later I was popping my shoes on and getting a friendly wave from the receptionist on my way out. So, it was a very positive experience and I'm looking forward to the MRI results so my Dr can get my spine to stop creaking and torturing me and behave. I would definitely recommend MDI if you are in the market for an MRI or any of the other services they offer. If you haven't had an MRI and are nervous read on as I share a few tips from experience: 1. Don't be nervous, it is just a noisy plastic tube that rotates a little, you are not going to get stuck in there, it doesn't enclose you, they have never lost anyone in there ;) You will have a panic button in your sweaty hand at all times but there is nothing to panic about. Just remember something nice and close your eyes and concentrate on that memory...and stay still. It is over in no time. Enjoy time from a busy day, this is your special "me time" to relax. You don't get that often, make the most of it! 2. Empty your bladder just beforehand, VVVVIP! Hopping off a trolley from lying to standing with a full bladder is the most frightening part of the whole process...lol ;) 2. Leave all your jewellery, piercings etc at home for safe keeping. You don't want to be searching for your diamond stud on the floor of the changing room.....it took me ages to find it, hahaha. 3. Wear yoga pants and a comfy t shirt and socks if you suffer from cold feet. Ask for a blankie, it keeps you calm n cosy. Take off anything with metal zips or fasteners, and if you are unsure just remove it and wear the gown provided. 4. Make sure you fill in the form before you go through regarding pacemakers, metal surgical items, etc and if you are unsure ask! I have lymph node marker clips from cancer surgery and I always make sure they know, even though they are not harmful in an MRI. 5. Keep your elbows in so you don't bang them and hold the emergency button as you go in, you won't need it but the cords can tangle up as you enter the MRI tube. 6. Make sure you are comfy, you will be in that exact position for 25-45 mins, so punch that pillow into the right shape, get the knee support just right, undo the ties at the back if you are wearing a hospital gown so you are not lying on knots, do what makes YOU feel comfy. 6. Don't fall asleep! I have to fight this all the time....it is cosy and you aren't doing anything, your eyes are closed and there is a blankie involved...just don't give in! You have to stay completely still. No snoring and side sleeping! Honestly, I would rather have an MRI than go to the dentists or the hairdresser. read more

Pros: Nice staff. Accurate and expert imaging. Cons: They NEVER answer the phone. The recording says they'll call you back. They NEVER call anyone back. They're recording is an out and out lie which misleads you into thinking that they're going to call you to get an appointment. The reason I am giving a bad review is that I called them six times two years ago for a mammogram believing their recording that they were going to call me back and then I forgot. Unfortunately, I frequent this establishment more than I'd like, for both myself, daughter and elderly mother. There is a woman here named Michelle that always returns my calls and she is so helpful and kind. She doesn't rush you off the phone and actually cares about you as a person. The girls at the front are always nice too even though they are obviously super busy and on many occasions dealing with rude or frustrated patients. I wish I got their names because they have helped me on so many occasions. I am truly grateful. Everyone in the BOH is also extremely professional and efficient at their jobs. I've had to see the young Filipino X-ray tech a few times because he specializes in child X-rays and he is soooo patient, even with the meltdowns. It's the same with the CT and US techs. They all treat you with kindness and professionalism and I am so grateful for this. It's refreshing when you're already overwhelmed by "what could be wrong" and then have to be in a cold, unwelcoming setting but instead are treated with respect and a willingness to take care of you. The only reason it's not a 5 star review is because it's literally impossible to get through over the phone. But since I drive past the location daily (it's a super convenient location in town), I just go in and make the appointment or ask questions I may have. read more

I went to the Kihei location this morning for an X-ray. Front desk person was rude. No greeting when I walked in.....just continued typing on her keyboard and didn't look up. Not an acknowledgment that I had walked in or was standing there. I had already placed my x-ray order, id and insurance card on the desk so the first words spoken to me were....."4 pages, highlighted areas only"..... That was it. No aloha whatsoever. I had a CT at the main office and the staff was very positive, welcoming. My tech was so easy to work with and helped to reduce my stress My CT had some complicated issues and the radiologist was wonderful, caring, and very very thorough. that entire experience was my best ever for imaging I also went to the Kihei office for an ultrasound. Its a pretty active busy place but the tech and the office manager were so easy going and nice that it felt like a spa! I had to go twice and the staff coulndt have been better, nice, more positive I would certainly go here instead of the hospital or Maui Medical Group because its so much more open and airy and i feel safer here from germs and other enclosed space places... read more

Big shout out to Bruce! Im 31 and had to have an MRI done on my brain. Scary & nerve-racking as it was, they were having a really hard time getting a good vein to catch the IV, (most likely my fault because I didn't drink enough water). I was concerned that they were going to reschedule the appointment and I really just wanted to get it over with. Luckily Bruce helped out tremendously! He was confident & calm through the whole process, making me feel so much better. He saved the day by getting the IV in. Thank you Bruce for making that scary process so much easier. Been going to this location for a while now. They are consistently really bad about answering their phones let alone getting back to you. My insurance couldn't get thru to them either most times. DR's order were faxed to MDI. Followed up with at least 3 phone calls where I had to leave messages. No return call from MDI. Ended up going in and found MDI didn't have faxed order. I was asked to have my dr to resend via fax. Dr's office did confirm they did fax the order. Waited for second fax to be received at MDI so an appointment could be made. Day of appointment and there was an internet/electronic glitch so needed to reschedule. Receptionist was curt, discourteous, and not customer service oriented. I received a call to reschedule and was able to get an appointment the next day. Again, I encountered the same receptionist with the same unwelcoming attitude. I've been using MDI for several years and have never experienced this attitude nor the lack of return calls. Not sure if I want to return but if this is the only facility that offers the service, I am left without another choice. I hope MDI will be attentive to this feedback and make the necessary changes. read more

I am disappointed in this company. FIrst I was sent in for a routine scan by my MD, upon arrival after following the 8 hours fast protocol I was told that their machine was "down". We scheduled an second appointment a week later. 4 hours after that, I got a follow-up cal that they could fit me in the following day. I returned on day 2 and my images were recorded. It has now been 16 days since and they have not forwarded my images to my MD. How is this possible? Get it together already. read more

Overall, this medical establishment was very professional. The front staff answered all of my questions timely and throughly. My appointment started precisely on time. The MRI technician, Kyle was very personable and professional, considering the uncomfortable circumstances of an MRI procedure. I suffered a sudden allergy attack while I was laying on the MRI table and Kyle demonstrated empathy & flexibility in conducting the scan, offering me several pieces of tissue paper after my disruptive sneezes, rather than reacting annoyed or inconvenienced. He communicated with me over the speaker, by instructing as to when to hold my breath, and when to breath with such a meditative tone. The staff at Maui Imaging Center provided a comfortable environment and patient-focused medical treatment experience. read more

I started going back to see a Chiropractor due to my back has been acting up again. He sent me to MDI to get an xray on my spine. They do walk-ins & appointments, so I did a walk-in & when I got in they told me their xray techs were not going to be in today (saturday). I was a little bummed but the front desk lady told me she would give me a call if anything changed. Within 20 mins. I got a phone call that their was 1 coming in & she would call me back to let me know when the tech comes in, so I was very pleased on that. They are located right next to Da Kitchen & there's plenty of parking. As I walked in they have a nice big waiting area with AC & a giant screen TV. The front desk lady who helped me was super helpful. They don't accept ALL insurance (just heads up), I have Kaiser Quest (Med Quest) so I had to end up paying out of my own pocket $127. It was pretty fast & the guy who did my Xray was super humble. read more

I tried calling them and nobody answered. I left a voicemail and nobody has called me back. Had an MRI, CT, and x- rays. All were done without a wait. Love the staff here, very professional. Got a copy of all my exams on a cd along with a copy of the report without any problem. Just fyi... you have to wait a couple days, maybe up to a week, for results. The tech's that perform the exam are not allowed to give results, they could even lose their job if they do, it's not allowed. Results are the job of the radiologist so once they review your test they will write an official report that will be sent to your Doctor. Your doctor should call you with results or you can call them. It can be hard having to wait for results but that the way imaging tests work. Often the wait is only a couple of days so it's not so bad. read more

He was frustrated I was "moving around" but I didn't know I was. It was awkward and tense as he sent me on my way. As a licensed Mammogram Technologist, I found myself walking in the shoes of many patients that have crossed my path. When I found my lump my supervisor allowed me to leave work to go to see my primary care physician. Carolyn did my breast imaging and was very gentle and professional, I must admit when it came time for my breast ultrasound I was reluctant because my co-worker was a male. Tim however was discrete and professional, I was not the least bit uncomfortable with him performing my scan. MDI made sure I had copies of all exams for my medical team on Oahu and the mainland. During my treatment this company allowed me to work thru my treatment, adjusting my patient schedule load. I worked thru Chemo and Radiation Treatment, only taking time off after my surgery. I don't know of any other company that would have done that for their employee. MDI helped me get through the first two years, I am currently taking time off for breast reconstruction on the mainland. I will be coming back to Maui after my breast reconstruction is completed, and I will continue to entrust MDI in all my future diagnostic needs. I look forward to returning and giving back to the company and da island that embraced me with "Aloha" during my diagnosis. read more

I had to actually drive there to make an appointment. I left messages because no one seems to answer but they don't call back! I went in and made an appointment but the day before they called and csncelled it. The tech said I had to wait until November 30 or my insurance wouldn't pay for it. After the appointment was canceled I called HMSA and they told me that the imaging center was wrong that I had not had one in this calendar year and as a breast cancer survivor I was eligible for one every calendar year. Now I'm trying to get another appointment and I have left multiple messages but no one answers the phone. I guess if I want to make an appointment I will have to drive down there. Not having disappointment means that my insurance covered visit with the oncologist, who wants the mammogram, will either have to be postponed or she will have nothing to look at. It's all pretty crazy.If you can make an appointment with another imaging center, I would suggest that you do that. read more
