Came into town over the holiday to visit family, and needed to get my oil changed quickly, before heading back out of state. Called 2 shops but all their appointments were booked. I do not recommend this auto repair shop. I had called to make an appointment to have my vehicle worked on and told time and date to drop off ( 9am) which I did, advised it would be 1-2 days before the vehicle would be looked at, which I was fine with. However after five days of no update no return calls, I returned to pick up my vehicle as it had not even been looked at, it was parked across the street from the repair shop. Both times that I called to check status I was told that parts were being reviewed/ backed up?? No clue what that meant... not good business practice, if you need work done on your auto I strongly recommend you read the reviews, which I failed to do so.. AAA listed them so I went with that. Complete rip off. Took vehicle to repair oil pan and diagnose a sputter. They had it over a month. Finally called to inform that it was "fixed". Paid over $1,300 to drive down the road and 3 miles later it broke down and shut right off. Call the shop and they informed it would be another $200 to tow it back to their garage. read more

I was coming home from visit to Syracuse University when, going full speed down the highway, I lost my steering. A Google search brought me to Maugeri`s. I was alone with my 16 year old daughter 300 miles away from home and pretty shaken. Thank God Google got me to this shop. I have a foreign car so parts are not always readily available or cheap. They not only helped me get a rental car but actually waited with us to be sure we were ok and back on the road, even after the shop had already closed for the day. Thought they were reliable - turned out they were scamming us! Don't go here if you want an honest mechanic. My family recently needed a new mechanic because our last one closed down, and we really loved them. Unfortunately, there are only women in our family and we were nervous we would be taken advantage of which is exactly what happened. Every time we brought in one of our cars, the price seemed reasonable, but the car kept needing to come back for the same reason! One vehicle came in 5 separate times in the same 6 weeks because brakes were making a weird smell PLUS they kept having us pay for it each time and the problem would come back up within a week ! We even traded in an old vehicle for a newer one through them and that was nothing but a head ache. They told us everything was covered, but then within one month of getting the car from them SO MUCH went wrong and they kept saying each thing wasn't covered! Also, each time we brought our car there they always said something was going to break soon and that it was going to cost hundreds of dollars. Also, the key to the newer car broke right in the door handle and they said they would have to take the door off and it would cost a lot of money to remove. How do I know that this was all a scam? Because we brought it to another mechanic our friend suggested. We told him about the brakes causing a smell, he said it was simple fix, fixed it on the spot, didn't charge us anything because it was so easy he said, and told us that they were putting in cheap fixes that they knew would break soon. He checked our cars and didn't see anything wrong with them that "needed to be fixed soon". Also, they took the broken key out WITH A MAGNET IN FIVE SECONDS and said that Maugeri's would have done the same and what they told us was a lie. Anyway, this new guy is great at Oriskany Garage. Unlike Maurgeri's, every time he fixes something - it stays fixed, he doesn't charge for fixes that take less than five minutes, he is honest about what is wrong with the car, and he doesn't charge hundreds of dollars for a small procedure. read more

I brought my car there with what at the time I thought was a leak in the exhaust. Got it back and was driving away and the transmission failed, it had been working fine before and was in excellent condition prior to visiting Maugeri's. Brought it to another place and they found there hadn't been anything wrong with the exhaust, just a small bit of rust. Unfortunately my parents (who owned the car) had it sent back to Maugeri's and they found a bunch of things wrong and effectively bullied my family into selling our old reliable car that we loved. read more

Do not, repeat, do not, under any circumstances, take your car to these guys. I had a wheel sensor issue on my 2005 Mercury Mountaineer cause the AWD to lock up in downtown Utica. A friend pointed me at this garage. The tow was OK, but things went rapidly downhill once we arrived. I told the owners it was a wheel speed sensor issue and to check the codes as soon as I arrived. I expected to get an estimate before any work was done. Instead, they tore apart my differential without asking and never provided an estimate. The bill? After three days they told me it would be $500 for what should have been a $50 sensor and perhaps an hour of labor. They did finally determine it was my wheel speed sensor, just like I told them. And they also said if I brought cash they'd reduce the price. They are without a doubt a scam and crooks. Beware! read more
