I've lived here over a decade and couldn't find a dentist that I liked as much as the one I had back home, but that's changed! Cooper Mountain dental is tucked in a strip mall about half a mile off of 217. I've driven by it hundreds of times but it wasn't until I got a flyer in the mail and then read the great reviews online that I decided to give them a try. This is going to be my dental practice from now on! Everything from the front desk staff to the modern dentistry equipment to incredible bedside manner makes this place a 5/5 for me. Pros: - Plenty of parking lot space to park - On time! I got there and was taken back in less than a couple minutes. - Modern equipment. They seem to be using very state-of-the-art equipment/practices. This made a lot of the normal things (like x-rays) go by so much more quickly and less painfully. - They truly care. I see Dr. Ramkrishna, and I can't say enough good things about her. Compassionate, funny, always making sure you're doing okay. The entire staff is like this. - You'd think with how "fancy" the equipment is, the cost would be crazy, but this is on par with any other dental practice. Upscale without being pretentious or out of reach. - The work itself is really well done. I need to have procedures beyond a cleaning done, and it went by very quickly and I can already feel the difference in my tooth sensitivity. She and her assistant checked in with me regularly to make sure I was doing well. I healed up much more quickly than other experiences I've had. None: - None. I am also not one to leave reviews unless I really feel compelled to. It's been a few years, and my feelings haven't changed. My first impressions were positive. The hygienists are very kind and thorough. I don't believe they are the problem at all. However, red flags started popping up when the dentist began pushing a tooth extraction and an implant. They had noticed something on my xray that they believe indicated my tooth needed to be removed sooner rather than later, however I never experienced pain or discomfort from this tooth. They sat me down in a room with their insurance person and told me how it would go down. As someone who is under 30 and never had any dental issues in my life, I was confused. I have also been told many times over my teeth look great. They referred me to an endodontist. Payed $300+ out of pocket for a 20 minute appointment for him to say "yeah, well maybe, maybe not we will have to wait and see." They also casually mentioned that the owners of the dentist establishment were their good friends. I did not follow up with a tooth extraction or implant following this appointment because the endodontist didn't say it was necessary at this time. I went back for another cleaning 6 months later and AGAIN was heavily pushed to schedule an extraction and implant. My intuition told me to get a second opinion, because something felt off. My gut was telling me this wasn't in my best interest and not for the sake of my dental health. As a young person who has never had dental issues in their life I felt like I was being taken advantage of. It felt as though they thought I was naïve. It felt as though this establishment was truly just a business trying to make themselves and their friends money. I have visited 2 other dentists since my experience here and have asked them point blank if I needed a tooth extraction and implant because a previous dentist told me that I did. I told them exactly what the dentist at Orenco Station told me. Both dentists I have seen since said no. AND if that were the case, extraction and implant should not be the first plan of action for someone so young who is also not experiencing any pain or discomfort. There should always be an effort to save the tooth. I still do not have problems or pain with said tooth. It's been 3+ years. I understand each dentist has their difference in opinion and can use their own discretion, especially in private practice. Some are more proactive and some are reactive. However, my experience was that this place was purely a business looking to make money. They did not make me feel like they had good intentions or my best interest in mind. They were VERY pushy to undergo expensive treatments. For future or current patients of this place, just use your own discretion. Advocate for yourself. Get a second opinion. Trust your intuition. This is just my experience I felt compelled to share.

I work from home and Hillside is right down the street from me. My previous dentist had retired, so I chose Hillside initially based on close proximity to home. The nice thing about the office is that they'll print out a plan for the work to be done on your teeth (if you have lots of issues like I do)--in my case, this is a long-term plan over several years in order to coordinate my dental insurance and what I pay out of pocket. Fixing teeth is not cheap, no matter where you go! But I find Dr. B to be practical. She prioritizes the work, so I know what I need to get taken care of more urgently. She is professional but also friendly and receptive and has a good sense of humor. I always know she has my best interests at heart. Also, she is VERY patient when she applies the numbing agent (shot)--slow and steady. You may not think that matters so much, but I had a dentist a long time ago who shot me up so quickly and often didn't leave a lot of time for the solution to fully numb and inevitably would have to give me a second shot. I thought that was "normal" until I went to my prior dentist and to Dr. B. A dentist should not rush you through the drilling process, and I know Dr. B cares about my comfort and doing things right. Also, Sam is one of her dental assistants and is most often the one to work with me. Sam's my buddy and has a great personality and sense of humor. She, too, is very thorough and cares about doing things right. I used to need nitrous oxide before drillings with my prior dentists, but I don't need it anymore because this team puts me at ease and I know Dr. B is going to be gentle and take her time and drill carefully. The front office has endured a number of changes over the past couple years, but I haven't had any negative experiences. Up until this past spring, I had the same dental hygienist all these years, but there have been changes there, too, and I understand there's a serious shortage of dental hygienists everywhere, so it takes time to get the right people in place. That said, I've never had a bad experience with my cleanings. Overall, Hillside Dental has a good team of quality professionals and I'm pretty happy with my experience over the years. If you live anywhere in the neighborhood (or work nearby), Hillside is a great place to go.

We scheduled these appointments 6 months ago, and the clinic sent us multiple confirmations/reminders leading up to our visits, yet withheld the fact that the dentist took a planned day off and would not be on-site. I had a tooth bothering me and needed the doctor to address my concerns, but because he was missing, I now have to make a separate trip back to the office. The clinic said the dentist would just call if he saw problems on my mother's X-rays, but we do not feel a phone call should replace an in-person exam. Neither of us was given the choice to reschedule. I wasn't told until midway through my cleaning, and my mother wasn't told until her cleaning was finished and she asked where the dentist was. They told both of us this was a planned day off to celebrate his anniversary. It is a double standard that patients have penalties and communication requirements for missing appointments, yet this practice feels entitled to alter our care without any warning.
